  1. Thanks for all the nice comments guys! My wife loved the watch. She even shed a tear . The engraving on the back was the finishing touch!
  2. Absolutely right. Although most are strangers they are like family! Nice to see you check in once in a while.
  3. A couple of days ago my wife gave birth to our lovely baby girl. Today it's "Mother's Day" so it's time to give her her present. The Oyster Precision I bought from HartDoc which I had engraved .... Can't wait to see her face Loïs says hi! The Oyster completely refurbished of course...

Great watch. So tempted. Waiting on Noob to see what they got in store... How is the crown on this one Scotty?
  5. Love the Eta 7750 with Breitling dial and hands he has. Really cheap!.... Wish I had a case
  6. Read your post .. and again... but still do not know what to say. Other than great you found a local repair shop.
  7. Who is ianm and why was there polish on the bezel? That story sounds like BS. Somebody tied to polish it! This does not happen when wiping off abrasive.
  8. Wow cougar that sucks!... that indeed looks pretty bad. Thanks for the heads up! I better stick with the new SMP 50th than as that one has the markings cut out.
  9. Problem is that dealer websites are not up to date. There are also models on there that are no longer made.
  10. Well guys, Admin was so nice to hook me up with my own section. From now on I will be offering my services on this board. Know that I don't do bulk services and repairs (and never will). I love the personal touch and small quantities of repair/ service jobs give me the ability to strive for perfection. So on one hand I can deliver great performing movements and high quality service but on the other hand I sometimes have to disappoint members because I will not take on any more work.... hope you understand. Take a look at my section and tell me what you think. I did a lot of text editing so I hope most spelling mistakes are gone now. But it's almost midnight here so can't see straight anymore. Before I forget. There is also a 'tech-section' where you can ask all your movement questions Thanks! Mark Look-y-look
  11. What is up with all the guessing?
  12. Always nice if people have the decency to reply right....
  13. Scotch brite and a light Cape Cod finish for a little luster. It are simple an cheap solutions but don't expect a true 1:1 gen finish.
  14. Cool! What a magnificent animal.
  15. I do not look at post count but at contribution and attitude. I know members with 3000+ posts and 2000 of them are in line with " great watch, wear it well, nice pics" etc.
  16. If you look at it from a distance servicing a movement is not expensive at all. A €200 service for a €2000+ watch seems ok. But a €200 service for a €200 rep seems insane. It all is a mater of perspective. The price of the watch is irrelevant to the work that is put into servicing a movement. Some buy reps, wear them and if they break they will buy a new one. Others want to keep and maintain their rep as they would a genuine, in their eyes the rep becomes genuine basically. A personal choise. You can find some interesting discussions in my signature. And all the discussions about pricing is irrelevant. I can do a 'full service' for €30 bucks. Does that mean I will? No. Like I mentioned earlier. Buy the craftsman and not the service. Everybody can give you a quote on a full service but you need to be confident you will get what you pay for! IMO a lot of so called watch makers or local jewelers cut corners and only a few will give your watch a true tear down.
  17. The lume application actually does not even look that bad..... But all the other stuff is a big no no off course.
  18. Sorry to read about your experience. For future reference make sure to buy the 'craftsman' not the service. Make sure you know the guy and are confident about his work before you ship out. Everybody can call himself 'relumer'
  19. Wish I could afford the Diamond membership at the moment. As you all know my wife and I both lost our jobs and are expecting within a week. Looking pretty gloomy at the moment. When things settle down and I find a new steady day job I'm in off course! To top it of my PayPal got frozen last week due to 'questionable transactions' so I don't have acces to that money at the moment also.... Just having a real bad luck streak lately.
