  1. Congratulations, it looks great mien Deutsche bruder
  2. So I'll wear it a little while and then send it to our foremost Alaskan modder for a little gentle case and dial ageing.
  3. Okay, I hold you personally responsible if my new watch isn't A+++ and takes all gen parts. Wristie and review in a month or so I guess.
  4. Totally agree, 36mm is gentleman size. Discrete, fits well under a suit and shirt, elegant.
  5. That watch never grows old, I love it, but it seems bigger than I imagined. I thought it would be about 33mm
  6. I agree with @MRWOZZA70, the watchuseek sub Homage threads are a very interesting read. I'm no fan of Squale, but their are some great microbrands out there.
  7. I imagine a good percentage of the answer to your question is quality control, there just isn't the economic possibility of the same standard of QC on a $500 watch as a $10,000 one.
  8. We live to share knowledge, even if it is bad news sometimes
  9. Welcome to our community. Don't be tempted to think it an either or choice. You can belong to both fora.
  10. Caveat Emptor or a fool and his money. I know what I expect a franken to be and I know what the parts are likely to be valued at, I know because I read a lot right here. Anyone who wants to pay $1000 for a $500 watch isn't going to have to worry about me buying it before them.
  11. I can't write or even say a single word in Thai, sorry. However you are very welcome to the community as well
  12. It may get be worth looking at Tiger Concepts. I bought a couple of sterile watches from them last year and was surprised by the quality to price ratio. Not a TD by the way.
  13. I have heard of virtually indistinguishable copies of G-Shocks, but as you say it is not a major interest around here. Although I have a couple of G-Shocks, I know virtually nothing about them and couldn't tell a good copy from a bad one. Sorry I don't even know where to advise you to ask.
  14. I sympathise. I was like a junky without a spoon when we were upgrading the forum. Try to see it as a holiday and hang with us until it's time to go home mate
  15. Probably the best watch smith and modder on the forums is in New York. @misiekped
  16. Sharing information, it's what we are all here for?
  17. Yes Ryan is a TD here and over on RWI and I've just double checked that is his current website
  18. http://www.chrono24.com/audemarspiguet/royal-oak-offshore-navy-blue-mens-chronograph-42mm--id4927542.htm It is based on a real model as the link I've posted shows. Replicas are never A++++ Swiss made, indistinguishable from genuine no matter what anyone tries to tell you. They all have slight differences and knowing them, understanding them and working to fix them can become both very satisfying and deeply annoying. Examine the two links, open them in separate windows and see what differences you can spot. The date window is in a slightly different position and the hands are slightly different. In the end it comes down to what you can accept and what you can not tolerate. It would be be worth doing some reading of threads in the AP section. Some of the guys have built amazing frankens using genuine dials, hands, crystal and different movements, but the cost can get eye watering.
  19. My left wrist is 6 1/2 inches. I find that size is not the whole story as some watches wear smaller than others of the same size. I have a V&C Overseas white dial which at 42mm wears fine with jeans. I also have a black bay replica that is also fine for casual wear. I don't have my notebook to hand at the moment. But IIRC IWC actually reduced the size of the MK line and some are smaller, a google enquiry might be a good start.
  20. Aquatimer is 42mm I believe. The best thing to do is scroll through TD websites, most give the case size. I have girly wrists and prefer smaller watches too.
