  1. hi guys ! Over the past two years I have built a lot of different projects. Frankly , many I do not like. All the matter is that if you want to build the best , you need to find the best ingredients . I realized this when in love in Cali . My first experience of building you know , I've created a separate topic dedicated to it . But it was not what I wanted. My search came up against the main problem - dial ! All the beauty of Kali in its dial ! When I saw the work of Dow then realized that it was exactly what I wanted! But Kali from Dow was to find not just ! now it is very rare ! those who have Cali from Dow very proud of them and I know these guys ! Today I have a holiday ! I received my Kali who arrived in Australia from my friend ! When I picked up this face , I realized that you need to build a very lushy project! _________________ - Case Silix my modification tips. 2. Yesterday, while at work I was approached by a coworker, telling me of this Rolex that he has laying around in a drawer, collecting dust! He goes on to explain that it's an "Oyster, or something," and "I think it's the real deal." He tells me that the watch is quite small, he thinks it is a womans watch and he can't wear it, if I'm interested I might aswell have it, he'll bring it in tomorrow... Well, tomorrow is today and today he walks in and hands me a watch on a stretched out bracelet that is only attached at one side of the case, the bracelet has come off the 6 o-clock end-link. I take the small stainless steel time piece in my hands and give it a quick once over and say "This is worthless, likely fake, let me throw it away for you" Okay, I'm kidding. After looking at it quickly, the watch appears to be a cir.1960's Tudor, Prince Date, automatic. it also has a dial that I have never seen before, a white dial with both 12h and 24h printed indicators, the inner 24h markers are red. I'm not really a Rolex/Tudor guy and know very little about vintage peices from this manufacturer... that's where I hope some of the experts on this forum will really come in handy... This is the watch, on brown leather, his is on a bracelet, I'll get the bracelet model later, when I have access to the watch. I could see that the movement appeard to be running, just from transport so no issue there. I unscrewed the crown and slowly proceded to wind the watch, being careful to feel for resistance or any obvious problems. The winding was vey smooth so I continued to wind the watch to give the movement a good charge; I am hoping to assess accuracy and approximate power reserve over the next little while. I pulled the crown out one position, this is the time change as I dont believe this watch has a quick set date, I carefully started to move the hands through 24+ hours, the date change was good, ~12:00 and most importantly, it worked. I set the time and put the watch aside until I have time to work with it some more (photograph it). I plan to update this post with pictures of the watch as soon as I get a chance to photograph it, I am busy for the next few days but should get a chace to work with it soon. Why then am I telling you guys this? 1. I thought it was a cool story, sometimes neat things happen and it doesn't always involve someone saying "Hey buddy, nice watch" which by the way, never happens. 2. I am hoping that some of the Rolex/Tudor Afficionados on this forum will be able to enlighten me about this piece, I'm sure there is more to know than google can share, as it is predominantly ebay sales listings for other Tudor Prince Date pieces. Oh, I almost forgot to mention 3. He would like me to sell this watch for him... it may end up available in the sales section here, this thread should make for a nice preview and introduction into this watch that might be just what someone is looking for. I hope to update you all soon with lots of detailed pictures of this watch, until then, talk amongst yourselves and please, if anyone has anything to share on this peice, I am all ears.

  6. Hello everyone, I^m looking for a Rolex Daytona 6263. I did some research on it. It seems that the DW Spinmaster is a very nice piece. But hard to find. I found an interesting one at josua site, have a look here: http://www.p-cls.com/0rldv00102-6263-ssss-black-asian-venus-p-10041.html (click on the same link a second time and the link will work) It says "the best vintage rolex daytona ever replicated.. surpassing all previous replication from woeher !..." blabla I`ve been long enough in this rep game to not believe any of this :-) But what cought my interest was this "made form blabla..... procured from Members of the Forums and Internet" Does anyone know something about this? I know they build a tudor with the help of the forum members over at RWI. But I didnt find any evidence that something like this happend on the 6263. And what do you think about this rep overall? greetings Arkon
  7. a couple of new vintage 6152/1 builds
  8. Well i found myself quite bored today waking up early on a Saturday with not much to do. Then i remembered that i have a Donerix Tobacco strap laying around that i bought off another member here on pure impulse at a good price. I wasn't really as fond of it as I hoped when i received it and it's been laying in a drawer waiting for a watch that's on repair anyway. So I figured i would give it some character and patina (please forgive me Donerix ). And since I'm a sucker for vintage and aged looks, i gave it a beating. So this is what the strap looked like before i went berserk on it: And two hours later after dish sponges, keys, lip balm, forks, lotion, knives and general abuse while watching TV, this is the result: I am really pleased with how this came out, and now I'm really looking forward to putting this on my 186 Arktos once it gets back from repairs! I might give it a rundown with proper leather wax later and another wack or two later on if it gets to dry.

  10. This was a watch I was crazy for a while back. I was going to buy from J&W and then this appeared on the sales forum and I dropped a LOT of money (I shouldn't have) on it... It's the Vietnam case with gen valjoux 72 movement, with correct assymetrical gen screw in pushers and tube and crown. Raised crystal (can't remember if this is gen?), old school bracelet.. and I love the red dial, definitely different. I also have the white dial with black subdials. I guess the chase was the big thing for me as it's quite small for me but it looks lovely! Here are some pics:
  11. first of all, sorry for the bad quality picture... just have my iPhone at hand... finally i have my IWC collection ready... but just as last few deliveries arrived, i got hold of some genuine parts that makes me want to start a franken project... 12. Not terribly fond of the non-Eon-produced Thunderball remake, but to each his own Back on topic - After commenting earlier that the initial batch of dials would be my first and last, I have decided to produce ONE more, totally redesigned set of Vintage rolex dials. These will be perfect if you’re building a super-franken. Just a few of the improvements: MUCH thinner fonts Redesigned from the ground up for even more accuracy GEN plates I have already sold a few, but this marks the first time they will be available for RWG members' to purchase. Dials available: 1665 Comex 5517 Military 5514 Comex 5513 concept/proto (don’t think these were ever “officially” released) 1665 SINGLE red sea dweller (the real reason I decided to do one more batch) As I don’t intend for this to be a sales thread, just a project update, please check the parts/tools section for more info + price.
  13. Hello all, I understand this must be a variation on the classic " Best Sub" Question, however, I am trying to find a good, if not the best out there, Rolex Red Sub, Vintage 1680. Have any of you had any luck? Any suggestions or direction would be a huge help. Btw, I am noticing a big flaw on some are the silver/metallic date roll....weird...so I am trying to avoid that. Thanks all in advance!
  14. Hi Guys! I want to show you my last purchase. This project started up a few months ago after a conversation with my friend Darío (Reziarius). We talked about we would like to get a Seamaster 300 vintage NOS (he already had one, so this one would be his second ). After an unexpected delay because of a missing piece that refused to appear, I can finally enjoy of this full GEN timepiece. Darío, thanks so much for your amazing job! :kneel: Hope you enjoy the pictures Some wrist shots Thanks for looking! All comments are welcome
  15. Thought I would post some quick snaps of these two. The Datejust specs: (gen)ETA 2892A2. gen Rolex 16233 DateJust case set E serial (1991) gen Rolex 295c crystal + gasket gen Rolex DateJust silver sticks dial (markers are white gold) gen Rolex tudor hands gen Rolex engine turned bezel gen Rolex SS crown gen Rolex datewheel gen Rolex clasp Nearly everything visible to the naked eye is gen. Even the springbars are gen, though you can't see them. Weight is within 2 grams of a 3135-equipped DJ. The sub took like 6 months to get to my door. It got lost in the mail. Supercool member Coolchu001 waited patiently with me while everything got resolved. He also shot the first two pictures, which made me want the sub in the first place. TC 16610 LN Gen Insert TC 'Combi' bracelet V3 with V2 clasp Clark crystal Thanks for your time!
  16. Hi all, Looking to buy a 5513 from one of our TD's. From whom should I buy and which version would be the best way to go? Josh, Trevor, Angus ? Thanks for helping me out! If anyone wants to part with their 5513, please keep me in mind as well. Thanks!
  17. This is a Homage 2533 I've spent quite a while building, the latest re-do was the hands as they started to rust badly. I've been looking a box to present the watch in for ages, I've found a few options in the past but nothing that really did it for me. Then I stumbled on this in a local craft shop and I think it will do the job LOT'S OF PICS..................... River 3646 case set. shaped and softened, crown tube and wire lugs soldered by me. Crown and movement ring aged Binbin hands, sized, blued (many times), and lumed by me (cornholio lume) Cort 616 (NW engraved) cousins plexi front and back. Amazing Daytona dial, painted, resin filled and lumed by me. Strap made from old postal bag by me and fitted with an Elias knife edge brass buckle. Box....aged by me
  18. Hi guys, Lately i'm really into vintage watches, especially vintage Rolex. Now i'm wondering how you mod/edit/create a vintage look. I've looked at the forum and on internet but there is not a "tutorial/DIY" for vintage a watch. I really want to make a vintage look on a Rolex, but I have no idea how i'm going to do that. So if you guy's know what to do or can give me an internet link, that would be very helpfull! And if it's to difficult to do it myself, my hunt for a vintage rolex goes on Thanks in advance!
  19. Hi, Venus 170 movement Does anyone can tell me some information about the Venus 170 chronograph movement ? (also named "Up and Down chronograph") I've heard it's a high end movement used back in the 40-60s by companies such as breitling and other top brands. I've heard it's beats slow (18,000 if i'm not mistaken), and that it is a workhorse movement. For how much do these vintage chronographs go for (in $$$) ? I'm interested in information since I have a chance to pick up one of these and i'm quite interested, but dont know much about it. Any info will be much appreciated. Many thanks! Db1
  20. Recently had this made-to-order vintage tan waxed canvas strap made by Eric (Donerix) @ Hamilton Leather Works. Great communication and timely delivery as usual. Strap is made from great quality materials and with excellent craftsmanship as always. Here are a few pics of it on my Omega Broad Arrow, but it's ultimate home will be on a 16800 custom franken TC sub build in progress. And a wristie... It came a in a quality branded canvas pouch as well, which was a nice touch. These were the options Eric provided me for this made-to-order strap: Keepers: vintage leather (like in pics) or matching canvas Edge: raw (like in pics) or folded (for a cleaner look) Tail: square (like in pics) or rounded Buckle: vintage roller buckle (like in pics), other or none He also has other waxed canvas colors available. I have already ordered a couple more in different colors and sizes.
  21. This has been 8 months in the making, not long by some standards on this forum I know, but the longest for me. I've had some great help along the way, special mentions to Mel, mark_midlands, Elias and 951MAX. The original inspiration came from the movement that I picked up late last year. I know it's not gen but it's a beautiful thing and I couldn't see it mounted in anything else. The case is River's 6154 with a lot of reshaping. Because the stem was 0.9 and I couldn't find a replacement I decided to replace River's crown and tube with one from Athaya (his new bronze 8mm would look amazing here but he doesn't have it in 0.9mm) I drilled out the hole for the tube and wanted to raise the tube away from the case and solder it up like the old Rlx's , after many failed attempts mark stepped in and did an amazing job at soldering for me. Never one to let it be and despite Marks amazing job, I had already ordered the 'correct' solder and decided to add to what Mark had done and sand it back. The dial is one of V's amazing Rol's that I have lightly aged, it is so stunning that I can't bring myself to go nuts with it. The movement is still a little vague, as far as I can make out it's Swiss made and branded Nacar, and all I can find reference to is Turkish railroad pocket watches. I gave it a clean and filled the engraved text with red acrylic, it's the most accurate movement I've owned. Hands are Adrians, I had a spare set of cali hands that I'd stripped off the blue and had been heat treating but I decided to 'borrow' a double pencil minute hand from another set and treat it the same, it's a combination of heat, then egg in a bag, then lumed with the good old stuff AKA cornholio, topped off with a faux CP The strap I made along with Elias's nickel vintage knife edge brass buckle. I wanted it to have some vintage Rol feel the way it is stitched and it is soft as butter. On to the pics, I just re-finished my 6152/1 with an LP dial and new hands so that's crept in to some of the shots too
  22. Anyone see this? Looks like they revamped the case: looks more like the yuki case methinks! http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_66&products_id=10829
  23. I just finished building this 1675: Ingredients: Silix old-style 16750(ish) case, reworked Clark's aftermarket 25-116 crystal, shaved to gen spec height and installed with UV lamp/glue Cartel 1675 "1:1" dial, lightly aged Hands aged and re-lumed with vintage patina Base bezel insert, faded _____________________ Even though it has a wire-type bezel construction, I chose to mod this Silix case because it's got the right thinness compared to my gen 1675. Plus it's a little cheaper than the Josh 1655 and the Cartel "1:1" As my first real vintagizing attempt of a full watch, I thought it would be better to start with something I wouldn't be too [censored] about completely screwing up. The donor watch comes with a really annoying dial. The 1675 did not carry a movement with quickset date function--although the later model 16750 did. To set the date, you had to do it the old-fashioned way: winding the hands around and around and around. So, the 1675 dial simply read "Oyster Perpetual". Even when Rolex intoduced the quickset date feature to the 16750's, along with the "Oyster Perpetual Date" label, they did it on a glossy dial with metal markers. So, a matte dial that reads "Date" kind of doesn't fit anywhere--certainly not in a 1675. Even though it is also flawed, for that reason I chose to put a Cartel dial in the Silix case. The original dial is the standard 29mm width, but the 28mm cartel fits OK. A gen spec 26.5mm dial would fall right through the rehaut opening. As for the cartel dial, for some reason the makers chose to stop the minute markers short, before the edge of the dial. If they had just continued them... Oh well, it's still a rep, right? In any case, I have a gen 1675 (that's badly in need of a service). I used it as a model for the case reshaping and as inspiration, along with all the detailed posts that Rolex Addict has made on the subject. Using lots of sandpaper and my new dremel, I spent probably too much time slimming down the lugs, reshaping the crownguards, and adding a beveled edge to the outside edges of the case. I couldn't get the crownguards perfect because (1) they're too stubby, (2) too thin, and (3) they slope down at the top quite abruptly, unlike the gen. Also, (4) I'm new to this. The crown on the gen is also noticeably smaller than my 6mm rep crown. My goal was to vintagize the dial and hands as close to my gen as possible: aged, but not like they were found around the wrist of a dinosaur skeleton. I aged the dial markers using my patented worcestershire sauce/oven treatment. I also had a couple glasses of a nice Rioja to keep me company. To reduce the sheen of the dial, I mixed some cocoa powder with water and dabbed it on the dial face. The bezel construction on the SIlix case is a very reppy wire framework. However, you can fit the 25-116 cyclops with some heavy sanding. I tried to get it as close as possible to gen height. One tip: bezel fading goes faster than you think it will. In my case, less than one minute sitting in bleach got me to a nice shade of powder blue. I was not happy at first, but it grew on me. After looking at gen pics of pepsi 1675's, I'm actually really pleased with it. After spending all that time putting this thing together, I'm going to give it away as a gift! I have a jubilee bracelet soaking in oil right now, and it will be friends with my build real soon. But for now I just have a NATO strap... Here are some parting shots of my latest creation...
