hanswurst
James Bond: Dr. No (1962): The Rolex Submariner Sean Connery used in "Dr. No" was lent to props by Cubby Broccoli, and was fitted with a black leather strap From Russia with love (1963): Rolex Submariner worn by Sean Connery. Goldfinger (1964): Rolex Submariner on a Nato-Strap. Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) wears a Rolex GMT Master while flying Goldfinger's jet. Thunderball (1965): Sean Connery wears a Rolex Submariner on a Nato-Strap, and a Breitling Top Timer, with a Geigercounter included. Another Breitling (Navitimer) is worn by Domino's brother. Here the Nato strap is very visible: You only live twice (1967): No watch visible. Casino Royale (1967) Many of the cast wear various Rolexes. There is an extreme close-up of a Submariner held by Ursula Andress, which doubles as a two-way T.V. monitor and radio. When Peter Sellers visits Q Branch, his watch is described by Q's assistant (Fordice) as, "1965 Rolex Oyster Perpetual, date indicator and log table around the outer band". This watch is replaced with the same model but with the two-way monitor and radio features. A close-up of this watch reveals it's a Rolex GMT. On her Majesty's secret service (1969): George Lazenby as James Bond is wearing a Rolex Submariner on an Oysterbracelet. He takes off his Submariner, places it on top of a photo-copier and then peruses a Playboy magazine. A Rolex chronograph 6238 with a silver dial and a stainless steel Oyster bracelet is also worn by Lazenby. It is seen twice when Bond times the cable car. A Christie's auction of entertainment memorabilia in London 2003 exhibited the skyrocketing value of such collectibles, with a stormtrooper's helmet from the original 1977 Star Wars fetching $34,161, far more than the $5,000 to $8,000 that the auctioned house had valued it at. A Rolex worn by George Lazenby in the 1969 James Bond flick On Her Majesty's Secret Service drew the highest winning bid -- $40,373. Diamonds are forever (1971): Sean Connery shows no watch at all. Live and let die (1973): Roger Moore wears a Pulsar Time Computer Quartz LED and a Rolex Submariner 5513. The Submariner's powerful magnetic force was used by Bond on a number of occasions throughout the film. Not only did it save the lives of Bond and Solitaire (Jane Seymour) at the end of the film when it turned into a buzz saw, enabling Moore to effect their escape from the hoist above the shark pool, it also gave rise to some of the humour in the film, when Bond used the watch's magnetic powers to undo the zip of this Italian girlfriend's dress she remarked on the delicacy of this toucj to wich he gave a tipically sardonic response "Sheer magnetism, darling!" "That's a particularly handsome watch you're wearing Mr. Bond!" On 17 September 1998, Christie's conducted an auction of James Bond memorabilia. Lot No. 130 was the actual Rolex Submariner used in "Live And Let Die". Rolex Reference 5513 and case No. 2912634. Its movement had been removed for customisation and the indices on the black dial had been pierced. The man with the golden gun (1974): Moore wears another 5513 Rolex Submariner, Francisco Scaramanga (Christopher Lee) a Rolex Cellini King Midas. The spy who loved me (1977): Seiko Quartz LC Chronograph which can print out messages. Moonraker (1979): Seiko LCD Digital which contains a small amount of explosive and detonator cable. It's accessed by removing the back plate of the watch. And a very subtle product placement: FOr your eyes only (1981): Seiko Quartz Analog/Digital Alarm Chronograph and doubles as a radio/receiver. Octopussy (1983): Seiko Sports 100 LCD and a Seiko TV watch with LCD Never Say Never Again (1983) An unknown watch given to Sean Connery by Q Branch which contains a laser beam. A view to a kill (1985): Seiko. Living daylights (1987): Timothy Dalton wears a Submariner in private but shows no watch in this film. Licence to kill (1989): Dalton wears a Rolex Submariner 16800. GoldenEye (1995): Pierce Brosnan wears a Omega Seamaster Professional. Goldeneye had the first appearance of the Seamaster in a Bond film. In it, 007 wears the quartz model 2541.80. Former fellow agent 006 wears the same watch, but on a custom strap. Special Q-Branch features include a laser beam (comes out of the bezel marker) and a remote explosive detonator. Ironically, there is an error in the appearance of this watch in Goldeneye. You first see 2541.80 in the pre-credits sequence which occurs in 1987, seven years before the events in the rest of the movie. Yet this style Seamaster Professional was not introduced until 1993. Tommorow never dies (1997): Omega Seamaster Professional Here comes a interesting shot, Bond's watch collection (Rolex Datejust, Cartier Santos ...) In Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), 007 switched to the automatic chronometer version, model 2531.80. This version (supplied in the film by the Chinese Secret Service -- not Q-Branch - maybe it's a rep. That's probably why there are near perfect Seamaster reps out there!!! ) also has a remote explosive detonator. But this time the watch also includes the explosive itself, in a small removable module behind the helium release valve. Interestingly, the opening credits for this film include an x-ray view of the interior of the watch! The world is not enough (1999): Omega Seamaster Professional In The World Is Not Enough (1999), he again is wearing the model 2531.80. Two special versions are used in the film. One provides emergency lighting, the other has a piton that fires and deploys a strong wire for Bond to swing to safety. Die another day (2002): Omega Seamaster Professional The model of choice continues with the 2531.80 in Die Another Day (2002), though with no new gadget features. The watch is used as a remote detonator (improved design though) and the standard crown mounted laser. Interestingly, a vintage OMEGA stopwatch has a momentary closeup in the film, too. Here is an ad for Omega: The Seamaster 007: To celebrate the 40th anniversary of agent 007's first screen appearance, Omega has also produced a limited edition of the Seamaster Professional chronometer that James Bond has worn in the past three Bond movies. Purists will welcome the subtlest of changes that set this particular model apart from James Bond's standard-issue Seamaster. The characteristic blue dial and blue aluminum ring are maintained, though the standard Seamaster's wave imprint makes way for the famous 007 logo with pistol, which is also applied on the dial, as are the luminous hour markers. The watch's exclusivity is shown by the case back, which has the limited-series number engraved at 6 o'clock, as well as the inscription "40 Years of James Bond - Limited Series" surrounding the Omega and 007 logos set in the famous lens motif seen at the start of every Bond movie. The Bond theme is even reflected in the rather unique production run of 10,007 units. ... alligoat
It's always fun to see Bond w/ those Rolex subs on his wrist in the early pics. I remember when Thunderball came out, that's when I first started to pick up on the Rolex Submariner. It cost $210 back in 1965!
