  1. So it was late, I'd had a few Jim Beam and there I was innocently looking around on the forums when I stumbled across a watch that I instantly fell in drunken love with so I jumped on the bay and ordered one, beer goggles or not you decide........ Spec's Part Number - CEM75004B Crystal - Mineral Clasp - Deployment Clasp Case diameter - 46.00 Case Thickness - 13.00 Band Material - Stainless steel Band length - Std Band width - 22.00 Dial - Black Bezel material - Stainless steel Bezel function - Unidirectional Calendar - Day and date Movement - Japanese 21j automatic And of course a wristy.. I for one love it and for a value for money Gen it's hard to beat and comes with a decent warranty too ! Its 46mm but It wears like a 42 mm watch as the height is only 13mm and its fairly flat on the caseback, it's also pretty lightweight too, comparing it to the new Ceramic PO 45mm which I did find too large this feels totally different on the wrist. The clasp is very secure it's got side pushers and a lock too which snaps down securely, bracelet is 22mm with no taper to it. Lume is fair to average but better than rep lume, the dial though is a real beaut, really clean and easy to read too, you could wear this piece for dress or sport whichever you need. Uni-directional bezel has 60 clicks and moves well, the pusher at 1 changes the day which makes it easy, the one thing I don't like is the small crown, it looks nice and fits snug but is a bugger to grip with my fat fingers just noticed that the date is a bit off in the pics, my fault I didn't turn it all the way when I changed it (see fat fingers!) Hope you enjoyed the pics (hope I'm getting better at taking them)! All in all if your in the market for a decent dive watch or maybe like me your not into dress watches, this would make a good purchase and at around the same price of a rep you just can't beat it for value for money Thanks for looking

  9. "I don't want to get called out." You are expecting a $30 watch to match the gen. What are you expecting for $30? Its crap, if you are happy wearing crap you should buy it.

  13. That's really cool, engrave the case back imo and don't worry about the value. It doesn't hurt the value that much if at all and I doubt she will ever want to sell such a thoughtful sentimental gift. It's really up to you as far as what to engrave.

  17. As above, for $40, you can't go wrong, it's a really nice piece (I only buy budget on principle (and because I'm broke ) ) As for your age being an issue... I do understand what you mean. I didn't feel comfortable wearing a Rolex till I hit 30. But. That was because it was the latest model 16610, and looked brand spanking new, and I knew nothing about Vintage... Looking back, had it been an older model, or beaten up enough to not look brand new, then I probably would have felt more comfortable. My advice is to buy it, but when you get it, spend some time brushing the entire watch with a green scotchbrite pad to put some artificial wear marks into it (especially on the clasp and underside of the bracelet) Don't go crazy, you don't want it to look totally fucked up, you just want it to look worn. That way, when you wear it, it's going to be less eye-catching. Equally, don't let the watch wear you... Don't wear it like it's a several thousand dollar Rolex, just wear it like it is what it is: A $40 watch. Chances are, no one will even notice or comment on it. Anyone who does... Just say it was a birthday present and leave it at that. No need to lie about it or build a cover story, as that's probably what gets rep wearers a bad name. If anyone asks, just tell the truth. If they have a problem with that, then that's their problem, not yours [Edit to add] If you're worried about being called out, rather than going for a Submariner, which is a very noticeable watch, maybe consider a DateJust with an oyster bracelet and a flat bezel (or an original Explorer) They are seriously low-key, and go with anything, from dress-shirts to T-Shirts, so less chance of attracting attention

  18. Not every trusted rep merchant has a "big store" .. some are one-person shops, who you speak to directly in email. Regardless of size, each has been with the Community for years, and is a trusted merchant. Jos Nana = Joshua of Perfect Clones and is one of the biggest "big stores" http://www.1-pc8838.com BK is a watch **modder** not a watch retailer. He imports select high-quality models into the USA and re-sells them with the option to have them variously improved before shipment. Bergie deals exclusively in top rank soft goods. (clothing/shoes/luggage/purses/accessories) - he is a 2 person shop. PM him here as user "KB" Connie King has a "big store" at http://KingShowBox.com Sead at SuperMirrors runs a 1-man store. He'll send you QC photos of any watch he has, if you ask. He is also a modder and can procure custom exotic leather straps for your watch pre-shipment. David Sen builds to order. He's that rare breed of builder-retailer. Watch International is a 2-person operation; they take your order, then walk over the the watch bazaar and hand-pick your pieces for you ... have you tried watch-international.com ? Your best bet is to email them, anyway .. the web site is not updated properly. The most important thing you can learn here, is that almost every dealer has the same watches. It's not like they make them in their own basement. What you want in reality is someone who you can trust with your money, and who also supplies a decent return policy if your piece arrives broken. You can get the same watches sold by the trusted dealers on a lot of internet web sites but those sites will lie to you about chinese or swiss or automatic or quartz movements, and charge you hundreds of dollars extra per watch. edit: to sum it up .. the web site you're mentioning is an unknown. why send $400+ into a black hole in China, hoping a watch will come back out of that hole.
