I for one always like hearing about places I've never been, whether its a report about shopping for reps, or just general information. Go for it!

Worked on my 1016 project a bit....... What do you think of this dial?

I have a few times actually ... never received a response ... -
Most of the Lange and Patek reps have a lot more issues than case size. Because of the movement complications, they aren't even close to gen. I believe the Patek Nautilus and Calatrava models are correct sizes.

Wish he still made that one. I'd have finished my 1016 a long time ago ... -
I don't really care one way or the other, but the reality is we're participating in a forum that deals with the trafficking of counterfeit goods, and the hobby surrounding it. So, apparently there's no moral problem with that, but somehow avatars that don't cross the Admin's lines of decency are an issue? I get panermaniac's point about a child walking by (who doesn't understand the content of the forum), but if people are worried about adults seeing things, the last thing they should be worrying about is the content of an avatar. Quite frankly with all the posts I read each day, I haven't seen anything remotely distasteful enough to have made me even remember it, much less want to notify a mod. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.

Thinking I remember seeing something about Clarks selling them. I haven't been down this franken path yet, so I can't give you any insight as to how good they are.
-
Well, the information you said you needed was in that thread, and also in several threads by Stilty using his rings. And since you don't "give a f... about what you think", I guess I won't bother cracking the case of my franken and shoot the picture I would have if you said you still needed it after reviewing the other threads. Good luck with your search.

For parts like that, you're likely going to have to buy them retail. The odds of them coming up for sale via a WTB or a sale post here are pretty slim. Ofrei and Cousins UK are probably your best bet. I think I have posted the correct part numbers for a 2824 somewhere if you need those. If not here, I may have done it at RG ... can't remember.

Search is a beautiful thing. Might want to try it, instead of bringing up multiple old threads (this one's from 2008) asking people who probably don't still own the watch for pictures. For example, this is the best DJ thread I have seen, http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/158976-diy-how-to-make-a-frankenjust/ Whole set of instructions on what to do with the movement ring.

Quick question for jerkstore ... is the Clark's crystal really that opaque on the sides? My gen crystal is clear. Maybe it's just the lighting?

Yep, he is a "brand ambassador" ... because of course having a Rolex on the wrist get you the ladies ... http://espn.go.com/golf/story/_/id/7062562/tiger-woods-endorsement-deal-rolex

I hope there are one or two in there without date windows ...

162xx cases can use a 2824. The Stilty ring actually makes it a breeze. I wish he was still selling them. The higher CP (or long post hands) are needed to get the minute hand to clear on dials with the stick markers.

Excellent tutorial! Hopefully that will become a sticky ... hint, hint mods ...

I recognize that dial ....

Here is a 3717 with Vac lumed hands and dial.

I assume he's talking about this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-1016-EXPLORER-Jet-Black-Dial-/251265013242?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3a808fd5fa

16013 never came with sapphire. Was always a plexi. 16233 was the sapphire version of that case. I am in the process of the same build (16014 case and a gen 25-22). What did you do for a dial? That is my sticking point right now. Hoping whoppy's dial project comes together as planned. Otherwise am probably looking at NDT's.

TAG Heuer does not get the credit that they deserve!

My first automatic was a Classic 2000. Nothing nearly as fancy as the above, but a solid watch that still get a lot of wrist time.- 29 replies

All gen but the movement ...

I actually disagree on the 2836 for the 16000 case. I know a lot of people use it because it's easier, but the stem position can't be centered as well as it can with a 2824. It's close enough not to cause major issues, but IMO the 2824 is better if you are willing to do the additional work (dial and DW spacing).

^^ what he said ...

The 160xx cases use this one (with minor modification): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Movement-Ring-for-ETA-2824-or-others-that-fit-Size-2-/151005643075?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2328a34143 Not sure about the 1603 case though. Also, just as an FYI, the gen 1603 came on a Jubilee bracelet, not Oyster.
