  1. Best advice I can give you is this. Either head to your local library or find a way to buy this book used, if you can't afford to buy it new right now. Shut Up, Stop Whining and Get a Life, by Larry Winget https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1118024516/ Don't be turned off by the title (I actually bought it because of the title, but that's just me). It's a kick a$$ book, not a self-help book. If you read it thoroughly and take it to heart, it will change your life. Trust me, I know. I first read it several years ago when I was feeling very defeated in life. I had recently lost a job I was great at, was functionally underemployed, had ballooned up in weight, had a big house I was struggling to make payments on (and was underwater on the mortgage, so couldn't sell), and was burning through the last of my available capital despite living as frugally as I could. It honestly saved me at a pretty rough point in my life. It got me to get my head back on straight and get moving again. I re-read it anytime I feel like my head's not where it should be. Good luck!
  2. I used Mary's 7836, and thought it was quite good for the money. The end links fit my gen 16014 case surprisingly well.
  3. 1) As others have said it will depend on your chosen case. 2) No matter what? No. Will depend on the case you chose, and also the dial. Some dials have tall minute markers. The more important question is are you intending to build it yourself? If the answer to that question is no, then I would just work with someone who builds them and let them handle the details. Mine was originally built by someone who is no longer around, but mymanmatt corrected an issue I was having and added his open 6/9 datewheel overlay (which is very good BTW).
  4. Well, if Ubi's back, I guess I better break out the Daytona .... If it's OK, I'll just stand over here and wait until you decide to part with it ....
  5. I went WTF? when I saw his username. Thought it was an attempt to mislead people who weren't paying close enough attention to it not really being Mike on a Bike.
  6. Knew that dial looked to good to be a rep ...
  7. Caci's brother from another mother for me today. So much for Valentine's Day .... it's Daytona Day!
  8. I'm still a fan of TC's. Cost a bit more but worth it IMO.
  9. My wrist is 6.75" and I can comfortably wear anything up to a 44mm case size with ease. Don't be afraid of the modern (or for that matter the vintage) Daytona. I've seen many women wear them. I'd also look at the 40mm PAMs with the blue dial (like a 69 or 119).
  10. I managed to find one of the old MBW hollow link 93150's for my 5514 build. It's the best option without trying to cobble something together. Still far from perfect though. The WSO 580's fit well on the HH case.
  11. My advice would be to not even attempt it. Given the age of the movement, the likelihood of actually finding all the parts necessary is slim, and you'd probably be able to buy a GMT movement for less than the sum of the parts. You may find this thread interesting, as the 1065 is based on the 1030 IIRC.
  12. I have a soft spot for the 024, but that's about it.
  13. Know I answered this in PM, but for anyone else looking, all the details are in my build thread.
  14. Well, first of all, eliminate the word "perfect" from your description if you are going for a 7750 based build. To get there, you are talking Phong case, and a v72 based build and spending $3,000 +/- depending on what you want to put into it. If you don't want to build your own, your best bet is to be patient (rule #1 of the rep hobby) and wait until someone offers up a M2M sale that you like and is in your pricepoint. They come up fairly frequently, but be prepared to jump when you see something you like.
  15. PBdad did my 1016 as well: Vac did my 3717:
  16. Same here. djpropel on eBay frequently has them for a good price.
  17. Wow ... your attention to detail is truly amazing ...
  18. 139 Posts and you haven't learned how to search? Whoopy12 is a member here who did several dial projects a couple of years ago. In the case of the 1016, he actually did two runs. There are plenty of posts about his various dials. Excellent quality. I used his 1016 and 5514 dials in my build. I don't think he has stick left so you're probably looking at M2M sales to pick one up at this point. Mary is AKA Watch International. She's been a TD on some of the other sites, but I don't think she is here. Her bracelet with the WSO 580 endlinks is about the best option for a 1016 other than gen.
  19. If it's the DW we all knew and loved (until he went bad), he sold great cases for the money. My v72 6263 uses one. Phong's cases, of course, are better, but a DW case was less than 1/4 the price. Unfortunately, DW started out solid, then got a little flighty, and then finally stopped fulfilling orders. He pops up in different ways from time to time, and rinse and repeats.
