  1. Quite right - I suspect that half the UK population could not even tell you the name of Edinburgh's two teams.

Even the London-based news have little clue about Scottish football - there was a funny moment when one newsreader thought that the Dundee Utd ground was in Italy. "Tannadichi"

Come to think of it, in Scotland I think to opposing fans just the fact that you support another team is intrinsically insulting. So you can cuss by just calling them what they call themselves, perhaps sprinkled with 'bastard' at the end to make the point. But then the supporters even tend to adopt the insults - Aberdeen fans sing "we're only sheep shagging bastards" all afternoon.

One thing that is a bit unique is that in Edinburgh there is spot on the street where everyone can spit on a Heart of Midlothian. Tends to freak out the tourists! Next time you're in Edinburgh....

  2. I took my family for a lovely day out....last bloody week!!

I said to my missus when the truth dawned, "why didn't you tell me it wasn't mother's day?" And she said, "you wouldn't have taken us out!"

Now I've got to do it all over again!

  3. Probably shows how silly the Poms could be, getting Multiplex to do anything.

Their history of completion here is so appalling that they have had to go O/S for work- won't get too much more here.

When's the next FA cup final?

I think they hired Multiplex because they had done such an 'amazing' job with Stadium Australia(!)....slightly overlooking the years of continuous grief and f*$k ups in the run up to Sydney 2000! I guess they never got to see The Games...

London preparing for the 2012 Olympics will be hysterical - I love their endless optimism. But for a city that can't build a stadium on time for AU$2 billion (I was a billion out before), can't build train lines for about the same amount, and only managed an indoor car park (Millenium Dome) for about another $2 billion - it will go pear-shaped at great expense!

FA Cup Final kick-off is midnight tonight on, where else (?), SBS.

  4. What?? Are we playing an Aussie Rules game in Cardiff????

 Ah, Cardiff, that hotbed of Aussie Rules....

Intriguingly, the English FA Cup final is only being played in Cardiff because the English FA paid the Aussies (Multiplex) a billion dollars to build the new Wembley....and they haven't quite got around to it yet. But it's on their 'to do' list.....
