  1. If it were me, I'd get a new case and crystal and call it a day. the parts itself looks good hm
  2. ya, thinking about it, i kinda regret buying the case set which is now still sitting in a corner untouched (not till the next couple of years at least)
  3. without any markings on the movement it's almost impossible to identify because sometimes the case maker differ from the movement maker. It is very beautiful though
  4. I agree on your point though, the one on the right has such sharp print and the serifs are really good that I doubt they're aftermarket. I wonder if they can be used as an overlay? too thick? :bangin:
  5. if you could post some reference pics of the genuine, this would help a lot. this is from Ronin's post which would suggest that the one on the left is a genuine, but can't really tell because the pic isn't exactly an exact match to the datewheel in question
  6. genuine insert, but the bezel is just in immaculate condition. what were the description in the sale? is it NOS from the late 70s? hmm
  7. that`s why I usually just forget tracking and add insurance XD Less worry hmm
  8. outsourcing is definitely an option, just check out the work by the panerai guys. DIY is always labor intensive, prone to procrastination especially when you're so busy.
  9. don't drink and drive!! enjoy your drink. cheers mate
  10. looks very elegant. excellent choice
  11. well, stainless steel chronograph pateks are always different than their gold cousins in terms of shape randy (just see that it has lug holes), you have to compare apples to apples. Just take a look at the stainless Patek 96 shapes and you'll see what I mean. Don't be fooled into thinking that because it's a patek it means that they use an in house movement. These vintage pateks have a valjoux 23 ebauche, which is a very common movment. There's a lot of replicas floating around. Regardless, it's a nice watch. I'm sorry if the critique seems harsh, but for such an expensive watch ($300k range), you'd really have to be extremely careful. The fact that it still has a pouch doesn't give it more credibility either, in fact, it gives it less
  12. It looks like a patek 530, but there's just something off about it, especially the shape of the pushers and crown, and the dial lacking any sort of vintage silver patina. Also don't like the fact that the crystal is brand new.
  13. here's an update on my order with Steve: (this was during december) As I've posted before, I ordered the case set and only the dial arrived. So after a week of complaining and PMs it took David 3 weeks until the the rest of the parts are finally re-sent. Here's what came: - mid case, caseback, pushers, ONE stainless bezel (with defect in the engraving), one crookedly installed crystal, one of the pushers sliped out when I tried to unscrew it, and as for the handset, one of the chrono hands is missing. - the dial isn't exactly perfect either, 2 markers missing and TBH, it's crap
  14. Donerix straps are really nice looking. But for my 6.5 '' arm, my strap is too big to be worn near the wrist, it's a pain when wearing it in the wintertime with jackets, but a really nice summer strap.
  15. gen yes, 700, and the second one is missing parts
  16. looks like this auction doesn't need help. As evidenced by you finding it here. My guess is 4 days before the auction ends someone is going to post this on vrf questioning its authenticity.
  17. oh that yea, I screwed up 3 of the dials trying to lume it, and gave one away to jmb. Then work and winter caught up with me. I spray paint these outside and padprinting requires good ventilation (i'm doing this in my basement). There is evidence that my style of dial is the one ian fleming was wearing: http://www.hodinkee....serial-num.html but this is probably after he wrote all the books since it is made in the 1960s. There's very few examples of this dial in particular. I've only managed to procure 2 images of it while prowling through vrf and antiquorum.
  18. for the sake of the discussion of course the dial that Ian Fleming originally wore in case you were wondering what ever happened to that project, I shelved it away due to snow/ freezing temperatures and lack of time in general
  19. makes me want to finish my own project, which has been sitting on the shelf for 3 months now
  20. This is the transition period from tritium to superluminova in the year 2000, in which dials had "swiss" and afterwards finally changed into "swiss made" edit: boobs + rolex :clap2:
  21. it seems puretime got a different source for the 1665 now. >.> It no longer has the correct lug hole size and comes bevelled.
  22. spectacular....*grabs reference book*.... mark 4 sub
