  1. Damn! All these 6538s discussions is making me want one... Another black dial watch??? Insanity!!!
  2. I'm bumping this thread. I'm curious as to whether a sapphire version with the same dimensions as this Borel mineral version has ever been found specifically for the SSD. Likely not, as it would have come up by now. Thanks!
  3. 3atm is all I can test locally and that's good enough for swimming in my books.
  4. One day, I will own a blue snowflake. Great shots, gentlemen.
  5. I think that's exactly my point. The "inner circle" gets the real deal - 100% genuine original articles. After that, loose parts are gathered and cobbled together for the rest of us. You have to read between the lines there. Sometimes,it's disclosed as "correct hands and insert". To me, that means replaced with period correct. It's not clearly stated. Or my favorite, "this has a white dial but the serial is perfect for a red dial." I haven't issues with a true Franken - all gen parts assembled. But my guess, there are a few Phong cases sold regularly there.
  6. Just saw this on VRF. http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/thread/1364582566/Wtb-+dial+for+Calibre++1555-+Day+Date I think he's on the wrong forum! Yet, he's getting some positive responses! Goes to show you, the difference between "our" watches and "their" watches is disappearing. Vintage is a Franken game!
  7. I like my watches fresh looking from RSC.
  8. Excellent post! I was boarding a flight 2 weeks ago. I'm sporting a high-end Franken Vintage Daytona. The attendant scanning the tickets says, "that's an awesome watch!" I thank him and glance at his watch. I respond, "yours is nice as well." He was wearing a modern Daytona. I did not stare long enough to determine if it was gen or not. However, I walked away thinking it had to be a rep. I can only assume he imagined mine was gen because I can "pull it off"
  9. I love this watch. I've been tempted to buy the bezel assemblies as I've seen a few for sale. I just can't get past the ICHS. It will likely pass the test at a glance but on a close inspection, it's a dead giveaway. Still, a nice gen insert is that way to go. Great catch. Hopefully, you're modder can get it done.
  10. As others have said, TC and BK build the most accurate 16610's. With BK, you can pick up a few genuine parts or ask if he can source and have him put it into the build. With TC, you will have to find your own watchmaker unless you are handy. Alternatively, you can always pick up a nicely modded used BK or TC 16610 on the sales forum.
  11. $70 JUST for tracking??? Was it shipped in an extra large suitcase? Surely you meant $70 for the whole deal!
  12. Looks great! I can't wait to get mine back!
  13. I miss my MBW 1665 Great White that I sold recently. She was really perfect... Luckily, I sold it to a fellow Aussie! Over the years, I have tended to upgrade. I went from having only 1 gen to selling it to fund multiple OOTB reps. Over time, I've become too nitpicky that I now focus on high-end Frankens and a few gens. It's crazy how I ended up here to save a few thousand bucks and years later I have spent more on watches than I ever imagined even in my wildest dreams!
  14. Can't wait! My same dial is with The Zigmeister at the moment.
  15. That is very nice indeed. What's the price on this particular model?
  16. Nice! That's true love. Beats putting "Sophia" on your arm and being stuck with it after Sophia leaves you for your best friend!
  17. Circle? I'm curious as to what this thing looks like!
  18. Where can I source an after market retaining ring for a Phong 1665? Thanks
  19. And that's why it looks exactly like my MQ dial! I remember you commenting on the quality of the P when I showcased my MQ QC pics. Congrats!
  20. It's an old school MBW / MBK case. I had 3 1665's. One is already fitted with a gen 1570, a second was sold and the 3rd is giving us a hard time. This last one was sourced from a member who purchased it from George many many years ago.
