  1. Great work, but I would relume the hands. Vintage is 1 thing, but loose/falling lume material is dangerous (not to mention unsightly).
  2. Both Flyingzg's & Josh's watches look to have the same case as Silix's ROLS176 (& variants). I agree with Alligoat that the watch used in the Bond films is likely a big crown 6538. The bad news is that the 6538 uses a thicker (15mm) case & the case on these watches is too thin (12mm). However, the good news is that it is just about the right size for the 6538's little brother, the 6536. This is 1 of the projects currently on my bench (awaiting a gen case)
  3. Looks good. What did the restoration consist of?
  4. Thanks.
  5. Datejust today
  6. Check with DW to see if he has any more asymmetrical-pushered A7750-powered 6263s This 1 has been genetically modified, but the stock (all rep/aftermarket) version is what I consider to be the Best Buy in Daytona reps.
  7. Your watch needs general servicing. Check your local phone book or the internet for local watchmakers & phone them to see if they will work on a rep watch. Some will, some will not. Phoning 1st will save you alot of time & embarrassment.
  8. I think Nikki has it half-right - the twitchy running seconds hand IS a well-known problem with all 7750-powered secs at 6 Daytonas. It occurs because of the slop (imprecise machining) within the relocation gearing. Short of remanufacturing the movement, I am not aware of a remedy. As the problem is inherent to the design, graphite powder will not effect it.
  9. Um, no. At least not this member.
  10. Nice find, Ubi. I hope it will see some wrist time now that you found it.
  11. I know that watch. Expended mass quantities of saliva (drool) ruminating over that beauty. It was 1 of the gen samples I used as a model for the enhanced patination of this
  12. The sides of the dial fit around the edge of the 1030's plate. The inner diameter of the dial is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the pillar, so once the dial is pressed down over the pillar, friction holds it in place. Dial orientation must be done by eye. On dials without a date window, simply align the 3 o'clock index marker with the center of the stem when you press the dial on (this can be done by hand, but wear finger cots or latex gloves so you do not mark the dial) & everything should be properly aligned. Once you have done it a couple of times, you may find that this type of dial is actually easier to fit than a dial with feet & screws.
  13. Beautiful timepiece. Well done, Raymond. Really, well done.
  14. Congratulations on completing your degree. I hope it brings you much success.
  15. Ending the work week Kompressed (pardon the dust) in CHS clay (ceramic) & still keeping COSC time
  16. Nice OP & you need a new crown (the inner spring is likely shot).
  17. The dial is press-fit onto the pillar plate & does not use any fixing screws. Because of this, you cannot generally substitute ETA or other non-Rolex movements for the original Rolex movement. If you are building a franken, you have 2 choices - either use a gen movement (with a press-fit dial) or use a standard aftermarket dial (with a non-Rolex movement). This type of layout is typical with Rolex watches powered by 10xx movements. The 10xx's case screws fit into a groove that runs along the inner perimeter of the container
  18. I would check out the Watch Collectors section (specifically Joshua or Trustywatchguy).
  19. Ditto. However, rubber balls (& similar devices) can be useful because they allow a screw-on caseback to be r&r'd quickly & easily for testing purposes. But I cannot imagine any professional returning a (repaired) watch to a customer with the caseback 'tightened' with a rubber ball.
  20. To the original poster (OP) - click me & read.
  21. My vote always goes for the 'Show Us Ur Tits Party'.
  22. Your watch needs regulation &/or cleaning (the movements in rep watches are either used or unserviced & generally require general servicing upon delivery). The accuracy of mechanical watches is affected by both the environment & your watch wearing habits, which is why the watch's accuracy differs depending on whether it is worn or not.
  23. Might the delivery contain something matte, flat & with 2 feet?
  24. Super collection, Stephane.
