  1. Looks good & if you write to PP, they may send you the catalog.
  2. Unlike Rolex, ETA does not train watchmakers in the intricacies involved in spotting modern ETA clones. I have seen long-time watchmakers with more than 25 years of experience be fooled by Rolex movement clones, which are obvious knock-offs to any of the senior members here. Never assume professional = well-informed.
  3. Ending the work week wearing my beater
  4. I prefer Nanuq's pair to Farrah's.
  5. It looks good & I would ditto alligoat's comments regarding Rolex service. But, as always, to be safe, buy the seller before you buy the watch.
  6. 1 of mine came from a DJ dial (I cannot remember which). The coronets, even on the same model dial, tended to vary, so just find 1 that matches the style of the coronet in your gen Daytona pics. It does not matter what model dial it comes from as long as the coronet is from a gen dial & the style is similar to the coronet on the gen Daytona.
  7. Buy a damaged/poor condition gen dial of similar age. Search ebay or the gen forums.
  8. Pics are not as clear as I would want to see, but it looks genuine. Still, as alligoat suggested, I would not buy without good, clear pics of the movement.
  9. Just past midnight & wearing this Sub
  10. Slightly being the key word.
  11. I have installed gen coronets on mine, centering them slightly better. But it is a very delicate operation - you have to be careful not to get/smear cement beyond the backside of the coronet when placing it onto the dial face. Also, because you cannot really fill the holes without drawing attention to the area, you can only move the coronet up a bit. From normal viewing distances, no one can tell, but, in the hands of an expert with a loupe, it may still be a giveaway.
  12. I would request good, clear (in focus) pics of the other side before anyone buys this. He has 3 of the same (out-of-focus) pics. Could be he is a goon or he may be hiding something. At that price, I would want to see what I am getting.
  13. Other options are NDT & MQ. Of the 2, NDT tends to be cheaper & more variable, MQ is probably the most expensive, but also the most accurate (most of the time). In either case, at this price level (high) I would recommend that YOU do your research (on gens) before clicking any buy buttons. No aftermarket part is perfect. They all contain flaws & YOU need to decide which flaws bother you the least.
  14. Welcome back, Chief. I hope you plan to hang around.
  15. Ending the work week wearing 1 of my Subs
  16. If you want a watch that is more useful, get a Sub with date. If you are a diver, or just want to look more like 1, skip the date (who cares what day it is when you are under water)
  17. Sorry, I did not mean to be critical, just trying to help. Here is a gen for comparison, see what you think -
  18. Sorry to be the usual nay-Sayer, but to be taken as genuine, it has to be fluid, smooth & clear. Not sure how to achieve that without the correct tools?
  19. One man's ($3) garbage is another man's ($30k+) valuable collectible. At least, in my case, all's well that ended well.........
  20. Some of you old-timers may recall the disassembled '42 I purchased from Ofrei several years ago that ended up being (mistakenly) sold out from under me by Bob Frei. The watch went to a flipper, who then parted it out on ebay. Well, it happened again.........unfortunately, not to me. This 1 was found by a collector at an estate sale &, amazingly, it was virtually the same type of find, even down to the plastic box all the parts were stored in.
  21. Wearing my 'Graph today
  22. Hey, Stac, good to see you back again. I cannot help much with rep Subs, but it looks like others are.
  23. Looks like a standard rep dial to me.......nothing special......& I would never buy anything from a seller with those pics.
