Big thanks when you do this Dan!

Good point from sneed above. Forgot to mention that my 3714 worked well for over a year (although with limited use) - only reason I had service done was that it combined well with a dial swap. Seems to be that QC varies of these movements...

I'd recommend Domi and his 3 jewel mod, i.e service and a couple of operations to reduce friction coefficient. Cost some $$$, but very happy with my 3714 since his work. Was very sceptical myself at first, since there is unclear empirical data to support success of the mod - let me get back in a year on how my 7750 is ticking...

My new toy for future PAM builds arrived today...

Great work marlin! -
Guess Akira need to step in if he wants to share his methods. Here's a pic of the dial from when it was outside of the case at an earlier phase: Thanks btw guys for the comments on the case - a round in the screws-and-bolts box and buffing might do it good. I'll see when the right moment comes to uncase again...

Have been lusting for a Rolex 6538 for quite some time. Especially the version with red triangle bezel and explorer dial... Guess it goes to back to seeing gen inspiration like these: Started hoarding cheap parts (total sum slightly above $100): - Silix ROL5 case set - 3-6-9 dial and hands from Rafflestime - Athaya 8 mm crown, 0,9 mm for auto movements - DG2813 movement, movement - Yuki pearl After a couple of destroyed dg2813's (or just with keyless works issues) and I started realizing my limitations when it comes to oyster homages. There also started to appear superb looking budget builds from Akira on the forums - especially some with stunning tropical dials... Took contact and it turned out he was a great guy to talk to, exchange inspiration and ideas with - and for some reason he gladly accepted to help to help. I was a very happy man, kudos mate! Here's how the case set and dial looked stock, pretty crappy looking dial to be honest: Pile of parts: Here's what Akira set out to do: - drilling lugholes - shaving, fitting plexi - reluming, ageing dial + hands - ageing insert - ageing, polishing case - drilling case and glueing Athaya tube into the case - tropical brown dial The hope was that the dial would end up magical like this gen: To be honest, I had no real hopes starting out with the cheap parts I did. It's not Phong and Minhq in the parts list after all... However, when the pictures started coming from Akiras shop I literally just fell of my chair And now, I just couldn't be happier with the end result I'll skip to end results now, hope it gives inspiration to the rest of you guys. Donerix was kind enough to make me a custom strap with buckle for this one. Please shoot in any questions here or comments! Wristies:

Cool, had never heard of Dennis Rudy before, thought only DSN had vintage BPs! $425 seems fair, given you get an eta 2824... Where is the replacement dial from?
-
Incredible work mate, that looks stunning! Might have to put this back on my wish list...

Definitely bracelet, looks great! I've tried out leather on my 1016 but didn't really like it. Currently have it on nato instead, gives a more relaxed look:

Wow! Amazing ingredients, that case looks stunning already. Thread subscribed Can only chime in on the praise for Akira btw!

Amazing watch and pictures. That WSO crystal really sets it off and you sure are a master at modding the noob eg series movements! -
Really need to get myself a Frankenstein watch with a gooseneck movement
-
Be sure to try out the 127 or the 217, great watches and reps - if you have the wrists for it.

Sorry Admin, tried signing up and went to verify with VISA - but it wouldn't accept my billing address. Probably due to Payza format and that they don't seem to accept Swedish characters... Anyone had same issue and gotten around it? -
Impressive parts sofar! Asked Minh on the price of that exact dial and well... Decided I couldn't move on Be sure to post pics of progress.

I'd say it depends. Some of my reps have had nice and greased o-rings, while other have had nothing but metal-to-metal. Don't have equipment to compare WR, but I wouldn't go swimming my a new stock rep right out from the bubblewrap...

Wow, those hands!! And here I was thinking it was rust appearing on the sides, but of course makes perfect sense that it's just pure brass. Looking forward to more updates here mate, that cg looks promising btw

This whole Texski thing is just tragic. I had rather tight contacts with "Mike" and we chatted about a lot of things. Also bought and received a few gen parts from him. I sure did recommend him to others. Do not know N in any deeper way, but the things I've seen him do (refunds etc, also before Tex vanished - eg last new year) have really given me a good impression. Guess it all goes back to the basic choice of choosing to trust until proven guilty or constantly disbelieving intentions. As an endless and naive optimist, I think it's a shame that he's so often lynched here (I assume due to issues before my days) - but then again, I'm a blue eyed guy who's been ripped off more often then I can count... Hope for all guys soon having their cash back and an overflow of cheap oem parts in the world
