Its funny that as we grow old and our time on this planet gets shorter, the value of time and the instruments that keep track of it become more important to us. Thanks for sharing a rather sad, but very inspiring story Andrew.
Its funny how the second watcheden pic is missing the pearl
Really wish they'd make this one as well. Although they seemed to have missed the boat by never making one of my personal favorites.
I don't think a tenth of a mm will be that much of an issue but it will be interesting to see how the date window lines up. They look to be a little different?
You gotta build one of these for me some day mate. I've given up hope that we'll ever see a beter tricompax rep as the model will likely be updated by Breitling any day to accomodate their in house movement. The work I have seen from you is legendary my friend!
Looks like a perfect fix to me. The Navi does not have a screw in spring loaded crown so I don't see any reason why your fix won't be a permanent one. Good work Pete!
I noticed that you set the time and date to "Breitling Standard Time", but you also managed to take your shots with the second hand at zero without hacking the movement! Now that takes dedication! Great attention to detail and thanks for sharing.
I agree, Greg was one of the few people on these boards that took the well being of the membership seriously. He was dealing at minimal or no profit. As an example my V3 Skyland cost me $150! Too bad he isn't around anymore
My advice would be to buy a completed franken in the sales section. They seem to come up fairly often and tend to go for far less than what the seller has in to them.
If the allegations can be proven, action should be taken. If a dealer will resort to that kind of thing, how can they be trusted in day to day business. That said, Josh isn't exatly clean as a whistle, although he has been a lot more reputable over the past few years.
Remember, there is no honor among thieves.
Love it or hate it, you have to admit that it looks much better than the Superocean that it replaced which had a very dated look to it. I think this one does a very good job in filling that low end slot in the Breitling lineup. I would assume that this one is geared toward the younger market and I think it will do quite well. Probably not a watch I'll be buying unless they do a budget 4813 version though.
Thanks for taking the time to do an excellent writeup mate!
