Hey! I got my first Tag Heuer rep on Santee Alley in Downtown Los Angeles back in the late 90's when I was about 10-12. Was yours a Tag by chance? I would have to get a new one every few months since the gold plating would bubble up on the underside of the case and bracelet.
First, I don't think full gold isn't classy. It's definitely in your face but it can still be classy. Especially on a DJ, an old DJ, the more worn the better. As far as love, if you enjoy it that's all that matters.
One thing I would double check on is if he is willing to deal with an auto movement. Not everybody is. If he is, then Magrette make a nice large Panerai inspired sports watch. You can also get him a nice sterile Big Pilot homage as they can be sourced really easily on eBay or even Amazon these days.
I asked him a few questions about the straps. I also asked if I could come check them out since I live less then an hour away. "We don't have them here, we drop ship." Ok, thanks, bye.
Yeah, that's why I posted here and not RWG.bz I just read the link posted above by droptopman. Now my head is spinning. I know the rep I am going to be getting will be far from perfect but it will get me by until I can find the right build M2M. Picked up this gen bezel on eBay. It looked like a Pepsi in his picks but in hand and compared to another aftermarket bezel I purchased it looks more like a Coke. He said it was from his 1675 but now that I have read the material posted I am thinking this isn't from a 1675. It definitely looks different in construction then my aftermarket bezel though so I don't doubt that it's vintage. What do you guys think?
Wow, crazy. Thanks so much for the info. I can't believe Rolex would swap out the guilt dials for white dials. Regardless of value that changes the entire look of the watch. I am going to read up. But also I am going to try not to worry too much about the smaller details as in my many years of collecting reps I have found that there is a nice area where cost and accuracy meet to provide a watch that is "good enough"
Interesting, so would someone have pulled the gilt dials out at some point to put into a better case? Wow, so I guess any and all of these are pretty much accurate. Thanks for the replies
This. IMO Omega's movements and finishing are on a higher level then Breitling, and they have made a hard push for branding between Bond and the Olympics. Plus, you can never forget the Speedmaster. Their role is secure in wrist watch and American history.
Hey guys, I am possibly going to do one or two light builds of the 1675. I have two different stock reps in transit. I know there is always talk of crownguards amongst the fora and while I am not going to be too picky, I'm just curious why I am seeing what seems like two different kinds of CG shapes on gens. Was it just one of the many differences between production years, or have some been so polished down they inevitably change shape? Sorry if this is a common question but I am just starting my journey into vintage land. Style 1: Style 2:
I picked up a limited B&R for under 2K at Ashford. Got a Hamilton last year. Ashford consistently have some of the best prices but limited brands unfortunately.

Looks great. Waiting to pickup a 1675 build and I brought a gen insert in anticipation. Do you pry off the entire bezel to do the swap or is there an easier way?
