Nanuq, I appreciate what you are saying and doing, but there will always be new members, or even existing members who don't visit the forum unless they've got a problem, who won't / don't monitor the General forum and who will not see these threads and who will consider MD2020 OK for repair work. Members can only warn others if those others read the threads with the warnings. I imagine the mods can be more proactive - change his signature so it does not contain an advert for watch repair? Change the member type text so it says do not buy or sell from me like other forums do? Have an auto reply PM with a short description of current problems, so anyone PMing will get the information if they PM him (in addition to any PMs he may reply with, not in place of IYSWIM), so they are then aware of the current situation, can investigate it and then they can choose what to do from an informed position. Leaving it until after people send their work to him and then realise there are no comms and a problem becomes apparent is not protecting the forum members.

It's been wrong for bloody ages. Shame on whoever has to power to change it for not doing to.

I'm sure when it's all done and dusted the admin & mods will put up a warning post with enough details in it so people can recognise the person. Should members jump the gun and do it? I'm sure if they do and prevent someone sending a watch off, and so saved that watch, it'll certainly be appreciated, but personally I wouldn't do it without getting approval from a mod first.

I really wouldn't worry. Thomas puts these things together out of his desire to make stupendous, highly impressive reps and love of watches. If you read his blog he says he'll respond to emails in the same timeframe a normal human would, and I expect him to build my watch in a similar way. Not a business, but a hobby, to be done at whatever speed he enjoys working at. If he takes 50% longer than he said he would do when putting mine together, and he enjoys doing it as a result, we both win. I've got another super TC watch to drool over, and hopefully Thomas enjoyed doing what he does, working on it and building it

Today I decided on a bright, bold start to the week, so the Monster came out to play. Half way through the day I received a couple of bracelets I had seen on the Bay. I've ordered 6, two of these and 4 other different ones. They're all cheap enough to order them, try them on and see what they're like. This one is a stainless steel plus small "tread" pattern rubber blocks, it cost £25. It think it looks good, although it isn't as wide as the gen SS Monster strap I rather like it. Decent build quality, solid links, good clasp, folded end links.

It seems to me that whilst someone in Omega recognised this as a big advancement in escapements, changing just this is only a small step in the evolution of the movement as a whole. And sadly, the marketing people have heard about it and are blowing the (real) advantages out of all proportion, e.g. the "Co-Axial" movement branding, etc. So the co-axial excapement itself is real and a brilliant idea, the advertising and Omega marketing crap surrounding it is stupid.

Hi all, Omega UPOs (the last gen 45.5mm ones) do not accept the gen bezel without an adapter / spacer ring as Rovin made here www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/upo-gen-bezel-151469.html Now looking at those images I'm certain that the adapter ring doesn't actually need any teeth on it, the spring fingers are touching the gen teeth so should work just fine, but if teeth are needed they can be cut, just doubles the time needed to make one. I've found some thick walled metal pipe which should, with a bit of turning down the outside diameter and cutting the retainer spring groove, work just fine. Making it like this I can make it the correct "depth" so that when put inside the gen, it touches the back of the insert when the retainer spring is at the correct position, so it'll be a doddle to install. I've ordered 6" of pipe, a decent motor for my CNC mill (one fitted is way too weak and so very slow) and a bigger chuck for the lathe, and I've got a couple of gen bezels coming and when everything is here I'll start experimenting and seeing what works well. Once I figure it out, is anyone interested in an adapter ring? I'm hoping they will be able to reuse the retainer spring from the gen (may need to shorten it slightly), and will be a tight fit, secured by metal glue, and when inserted fully so it's touching the back of the insert, it will be at the correct depth. I'm not sure if the forum rules allow me to set a price, so I won't at the moment, just asking if there's any demand to make a dozen or two of them.

What is the breakdown of the £22? IIRC they charge something like a £12 administration fee which you've got to pay. So they're charging you £10, which on $35 is a bit steep, but just look at it this way, we all get caught once in a while, you didn't save money this time but have all the others!

Lighting. The seconds hand has all but vanished due to the same effect, and the hour and minute hands are just floating lume. Approve the QC pics, it's nice.

Steer clear of the pre 2006 (X100) ones. The next generation, X150 XK and XKRs are damn impressive rocket ships I'm trying to sort things out so I'll be able to buy a friends 2007 XKR when he sells it, getting rid of my Boxster S in the process. I don't think any car that's been made in the past 5 years is as unreliable or rust prone as they used to be in the 1970s? As to old 911s, I know they're lovely to look at, but they're still to "London Stock broker made a fortune and bought one with his christmas bonus" for me. Just too far down the "in your face" looks. Now a nice new 991 Turbo would do me lovely!

I'm sorry I can't help you with information but it looks a lovely watch and well worth getting restored. There's a few members here that have restored old watches for others and made a very good job of it.

Hi all, I'm browsing round EBay looking at the rep bezel inserts as I'm trying to find good quality ones, 2 x orange and 2 x black. Some adverts say 45mm, some say 45.5mm. I've even seen one specifically stating that it was for the 45mm model and wouldn't fit the 45.5mm model. However I can't see where the difference is? Is there any difference between them? Do you just have to measure and find out? It looks like the only one on EBay is in the states so I'll have to pay for postage over to here in the UK. Postage isn't a lot at all, but it'll be more than a little annoying if there are actually two watches and I order the bezels for the wrong size! Cheers, Richard
