  1. For anyone who doesn't follow Thomas' Facebook page he just announced a new watch:- http://blog.tc-sub.com/2013/09/495-caddell-submariners.html Edit: just seen that Thomas posted about it in the Rolex forum. I'm an idiot! Mods, please delete this
  2. There are quite a lot of duplicate posts there at the moment! Mine managed to get posted three times. When I clicked the Preview button that worked as it should, quickly. When I pressed the Post button it just sat there, doing nothing, for aaaaaaaaaaages. So hit 'stop' and Post again, hung again, ditto, tried preview, worked fine, tried other sites, they worked fine, looked at the for sale forum here and saw my multiple posts. Don't know what it is, but something's not happy
  3. Oy! Are you trying to infer something?!?!?! I haven't even posted anything yet and here diaby is thread crapping!! Oh dear! I've just made more work for the mods - sorry mods!
  4. Oh it's certainly not a problem including one (apart from when I forget to take one when I take all the other photos and then have to set it up again, or I've taken pics over 2 days and the date is yesterdays!!) I was just thinking I was going mad as I couldn't see that rule. Read them about 10 times
  5. I'm just about to list a load of watches, straps and a winder to sell 'em. Now I've read through the rules at the top of the watch sales forum, and the top sticky post and nowhere can I see anything that says we MUST post a tagged picture (you know, one that shows everything for sale in that thread with something with the user name, todays date and the forum name on it) Is that not compulsory here? I'm sure I've seen loads of people asked to put one up, but where is it in the rules? Ta!
  6. Has the Black Bay been repped yet? I had a search and saw mention that said some factory had got hold of one with the aim of repping it back in Oct 2012.
  7. Love it! Another watch to add to my "buy" list. (And here I was trying to stick to a reasonable number!)
  8. Now THAT is a bloody nice colour combo. Bezel, dial, lume, all lovely. Me want! I like yours too Deckard, but the lume on this one matches a bit better I think, yours looks a little green in your photos? Might just be the photo? I'm guessing one or the other has been superlumed?
  9. Well, the left one looks like it was lost in the desert by Lawrence of Arabia and then become the foundations of a scorpions nest, and the right one, well, has your butt been kinda itchy for the past 6 months? I think you lost something down there! ONLY JOKING!
  10. Hi and welcome to RWG! We have a sub forum that contains all the "trusted dealers", it's here:- http://www.rwgforum.net/forum/230-watches-clothing-accessories/ You can see that Trusty Time is listed in there, here:- http://www.rwgforum.net/forum/65-trusty-time/ His current site is http://www.ttw888.com/ And you are correct when you guessed that Andrew company is TrustyTime. Note that each dealer sub-forum has a "reviews" sub-forum, it's a good idea to check in there and read a few of the recent posts to get an idea of the dealer. They are all "trusted" - which basically means we have used them lots, and they can be trusted to send you the watch you have paid for, and will honour any DOA returns procedure they may operate (but not all do IIRC). Read each dealers own website carefully in regards to warranties - offered or not, and warranty terms if they are offered, if they will accept returns, if they use QC pictures, if they will send via "triangular shipping" (only relevant if you live somewhere in the EU that has problematic customs) Lastly be aware that ordering a rep requires patience, they can be in your hands in 5 days, or 5 months.
  11. The scratches on the clasp are under the bit that folds over so I'd expect marks there, they're covered up when you're wearing it so nothing to worry about.
  12. Gld to hear Reg is on the mend. From first hand experience I know how quickly it can all go wrong on a motorbike. It's not the falling off that hurts or breaks (much), it's coming to an abrupt halt as you say hello to a tree/car/van/sign post/wall/kerb or even a muddy verge in my case.
  13. Interesting project. If I were you I'd firstly get the movement off and checked and serviced - even if you don't want to proceed you should be able to sell the serviced movement and make a profit? Also if it needs unavailable parts, you'll find out now rather than after you've invested hundreds of $ on other parts. Then I'd look out for older rep 300s with compatible cases that will take NOS dials and just go from there, using gen where you want
  14. Thousands of years ago, the only reason mankind survived is that they remembered bad things. Tiger bites toe off. Owww! Tiger is bad! To survive, must remember tiger is bad! Apple is nice. Meh. Apple is no danger, forget apple, remember poisonous things. And round the fire next week, the tiger was 12 feet tall and swallowed a man whole. And what's an Apple? We're still exactly the same now, right here, in this thread. Just sayin'!
  15. I haven't got through anywhere near that number of watches, but I do seem to have a problem with the "sale" side of things... I've still got everyone I've bought.
  16. I used to wonder what's the deal with them, then saw a radiomir homage going cheap so decided to buy it just to see. It really is extremely comfortable to wear with the big wide soft strap, so I ordered 3 of the same style of soft straps and bought another two Pams. I just ordered a homage fiddy last night after giving up looking for one on M2M. They're definitely not a watch I would have more than 3 or 4, two main styles I like, and SS and PVD. You just need to pick up a cheap one to try it, but make sure it has a soft strap.
  17. You need reasons? Gen build quality is unbelievable, gen AR is second to none on some watches, no dirty movements, it just makes you feel good wearing a gen! Buy one!
  18. Is there a transparent paint / coating that absorbs UV? If so then you could paint the dial in that prior to luming, and then lume it. That way the lume would be exposed to UV to gain any benefit from it's charging effects, and any UV hitting the rest of the dial would be absorbed and not reflect.

  20. Can we have an "We Love Archie" forum? If that doesn't hook his ego nothing will!
  21. > What is the best crystal you have ever looked through? I think it's my gen Breitling Aerospace, but soon I'll have a franken Omega PO with a gen dial and crystal and I'm hoping that'll blow my socks off. > What are the qualities you look for in crystal and why? It fits properly, has no flaws and is slightly domed. I like domed crystals as flat ones reflect more light - domed crystals "shrink" any overhead light sources making them look smaller. > AR coatings? Which coatings? Does both sides matter? Not bothered which one, so long as it is very, very AR. Both sides, yes. I suppose if you did a physical job you may want internal only as the external AR would get scratched and make the watch look bad. > Do you find crystal thickness makes a difference with clarity? Not enough experience of different watches to say, but I'm not one for mega thick crystals. > Close or far from the face? Too far from the face is just a waste of space - why make the watch even taller than it could be? Water resistance depth is one reason, but really, who needs more than 50m depth WR? > Is a cyclops just annoying? Not if it does its job well!
  22. LOL, I was just going to say that! I think it's a Mercedes or an Audi.
  23. Yes, that is me. Just trying to help a fellow forum member
