  1. Just an update guys, looks like they got him... http://www.hackneygazette.co.uk/news/crime-court/silly_hackney_father_admits_damaging_100k_aston_martin_outside_tesco_1_4222846
  2. Do you replace the rep mainspring?
  3. This http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NO-1000-Watch-Timing-Machine-Multifunction-Timegrapher-No-1000-e-/281501417713?hash=item418acac0f1 is the most popular budget machine. Syy's the limit from here on...
  4. Great comparison, thanks for showing us. I would be able to tell a rep from gen now by looking at the 12 & 6 o'clock numerals where they join each other. Notice on the gen they are joint just at the bottom but on the rep the numeral joint extends further up.
  5. Beautiful location, fantastic photos and a Man with class. Well done you!
  6. When choosing shoes get down to a shop that stocks plenty of variety. There is so much choice. My advice is go with Shimano SPD system as the cleat is recessed into the sole so you can walk more normally off the bike and there seems to be a greater variety rather than just racings/sports style. There is a lot to consider, trainer style, casual style or racing style. Soles ranging from very flexible through to very stiff. Lace up/Velcro or combination. Summer, winter or all rounder. Once you go to cleats, you won't go back
  7. Mountain Biking is my passion but I commute and stick road miles in during the winter when the trails become unrideable. London out to Essex is my stomping ground but venture further afield when 'er indoors' gives me a pass Only advice I can offer is enjoy yourself, there's a great social side to cycling. Riding with others brings motivation & laughs
  8. Slip that baby back on your wrist and nobody will get hurt. Move along Gents, nothing to see here...
  9. Indeed, it works very well. Unfortunately we all know how the Chinese screws perform, I can just see it now...Just as they tighten up onto your lovely dial feet 'snap' off with the head! Then your in trouble
  10. No, there are no other differences. You can use the 7750 with or without day wheel.
  11. All the A6497 mods are cosmetic. It is a good movement out of the box and of course after a service I have found it performs as good as the Swiss. The Incabloc mod involves a watchmakers lathe, the correct tooling and a proper watch smith to perform the mod. It's by no means an 'easy' mod. People have it done because it's the easiest tell to look for in a rep...Apart from the swan neck, micrometrical screw, winding gears, centre wheel etc, etc, etc! A member named Merlin does the best mod on this movement, but I wander if it wouldn't be cheaper to buy a Swiss 6497 and get it engraved
  12. Forget about rep fountain. The nibs are hit & miss to whether they will, write, write inconstantly or not write at all. Get a ball point/roller ball and put in gen refills. Saying that, I have 2 Mont Blanc rep fountain pens and after polishing the nibs they are a joy to use
  13. Valjoux 92 movement, at least it's Swiss
  14. What a way to introduce yourself, classic! Very generous and thoughtful Akira, nice one
  15. Thanks for the replies guys. Guess I will just go for the latest Noob version and be happy Does anyone apart from Angus sell it?
  16. Properly serviced 775- movements are pretty good once serviced. Trouble is a proper service will cost twice the price of a new asian movement. If anything is broken on the asian then unless a swiss part fits (many do) then getting asian parts is nigh on impossible. They are a complicated and at times, frustrating movement to service. The Swiss 775- is a joy to work on Unless you want to pile money into them, then swap out the movements for new asians or...Sell me the PN Good luck whatever you decide, vintage Daytona's rock !
