Amazingly detailed pics, description, and overall breakdown- The Zigmeister's teardown's make some of TZ's finest look like rushed amateurs... very impressive and you conclusions on the movement represent a big step in the reliability and service life of Asian movements. Thank you!!
I know people that have removed the cyclops from gen subs... they feel it's too ugly! I've never personally done much more than mods or have a watch engraved (My gen DJ has an inscription on the caseback)
That seems to be one of the problems: a standardized code of ethics regarding international breeding.
On a side note Dani my home state of Massachusetts actually had a line item on this year's election ballot to ban Greyhound racing...
UN certainly seems to go above and beyond! I've had varying experiences with gens... Rolex fixes the flaw and sends it back, Omega either fixes the flaw or offers a new watch, IWC fixes the flaw quickly... depends on your experience.
I'm in CT / MA depending on the time of the month / where my business sends me (I'm in Europe for the next few days) but if anyone does an NYC or Boston G2G I'll be in time permitting.
The only problem I have with this watch is the fact that Omega designed it specifically to show the new 80xx in-house calibre... with such a showcasing, the rep is easily identifiable.
Very nice writeup!
One quick correction though:
Vintage Omega movements were not plated with gold...the 321 and the 861 were both plated with a beryllium-copper alloy as proven in tests of various movement components

I agree...a great post Dani!
Near where I live many of my neighbors shun the thought of rescue or welfare dogs aiming for the prestige of a pedigree dog...
Genetics tells us that differentiation and diversification in the gene pool provides the healthiest dogs (or anything for that matter- look at the British royal family!!)...so I've never understood the prestige of owning something that is genetically predisposed to health problems and pain...
