Changing RWG

Admin

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Have a little time on my hands these days, so I thought I would get a thread going to get your input on any changes you would like to see here on RWG. Basically; How can we make RWG a better and more attractive forum.

I prefer your answer here, but if you want, you can leave anonymous suggestions here: http://freesuggestionbox.com/pub/rihxcft

So what kind of suggestions am I looking for? Well, anything and everything. Share your thoughts on what you think can make this a better place. E.g.;

I don't like the colors. Make it darker, it hurts my eyes.

Too many forums! (What should we remove/merge?)

We need more forums! (What should be added?)

VIP membership is to expensive.

There are to many ads for non-paying members

The admin sucks. Get a new one (Won't happen, but its a great suggestion :D )

Etc, etc.

Two quick suggestions:

1) Lifetime membership price.

2) I think the sales section is a bit awkward. Appears there are two posts for every sale, one "advert" and one "post". Additionally, the "New ads from our Classifieds section" can be deleted. Last post there was 2/10/17.

I would like to contribute to the forum but with a monthly cost for VIP makes me hesitate. I think more people would contribute if it were cheaper and in that way the forum would get more active. Maby@tomhorn is on to something?

Please dont change the colors. I like it when things are just the way its always been.

Bring back the old, more intuitive, M2M sales section format. The new version hasn’t added beneficial functionality. It also requires a workaround of double posting images in the “Watches” thread as well as in the “Classifieds” to reach the Tapatalk audience. Bottom line, a more intuitive M2M sales section will reinvigorate the forum.

I agree with everything so far.

Additionally, posting seems to be slow, even from the old guard here. We need to get the band back together, man!

In all seriousness, activity will ebb and flow as life gets in the way. If just seems that this ebb has occurred simultaneously for a lot of the main members that would typically drive conversation here.

At at the end of the day, it's all of our responsibility to keep the board alive, both from a financial perspective as well as content. The above is a good start.

I am sure this new forum it is much better for browsing if you learn how to use it properly, it has lots of new features and functions, but it is impossible to please everyone.

From a vendor´s perspective from my experience, I´d say people don´t use social media to login to these kind of forums, specially Linkedin because for some people being in these forums is worse than getting caught watching porn.

There should be a moderator on duty who helps to put TD´s website up to date in the section, I see that nobody cares and people just go to another forum to look for that info.

Greetings everyone from the Great China!

Hey T, the sales area is in a bit of a mess now and can be a pain to manage.
We should just have a single section and not “advert” and “sales post” sections separately.
Is there any way to clean it up and make it simple for members to post and crew to moderate?

Thank you

Toro I was under the impression that it was the dealers responsibility to update their sites. If you or any dealer is having a problem editing your area to update we are here to help but we are volunteers this is how you guys make a living hence it's the dealers responsibility to provide their customers w/ up to date access.

Well, if it´s the dealers responsibility, you should give access to the control panel in the mod/admin level, and that is not OK. as it can be changed only from there. None of the links exposed are functional and outdated.

Mike, this was a suggestion because you asked for suggestions. The guys are volunteers, fine, it takes 3 seconds to change a link, and it haven´t been updated for years.

Again, it is a suggestion and if you like it this way, I am totally fine.

I think it's rather unanimous that the sales section definitely needs a shake up (and by shake up I mean essentially going back to the old system). I won't drone on about that as it's well covered above.
I will add that I would definitely prefer the colour pallet to go back to how it was in the past. This very white look is okay but can be misery to read late at night, an alternate suggestion could be some type of night mode as many apps offer for nighttime reading.

I've personally updated your forum with your new address multiple times, as have others here. We're all here for each other, you need us as much as we need You, try think in those terms.

One small observation:  When you scroll down the homepage first you see 'the lounge' then secondly the 'trading zone'. This sends a message to the casual observer that we are more about buying and selling than we are about the appreciation of watches. I would suggest that the 'brand forums' be put before the 'trading zone' to emphasise what our priority is. If indeed talking watches is our priority. If not please ignore everything I've just said ;)
