Some harsh words have been said to me and i am very dissapointed and puzzled since they were said by a known member here but mostly by someone in the forum that I considered a friend.

Words like that I look 'rep' with contempt that some of my acts are against the "spirit" of the community (like the outrageous genuine parts sale prices) and that I am a purist now and in other words that I don't belong here.

..after all that I have offered the last 4,5 years in RWG.

It made also think that maybe there is some truth in those words since for the last years I do not own a rep and basically I do not plan to have another. I am more than happy with my gen Pams. I am a perfectionist and honestly you can only get perfection to my eyes from gens (even then it is not so sure)

People might think that by showing my genuine Pams here is like saying.. nah nah nah look what I got and you don't.. I know some of the newer members will think that.. but I honestly just want to share my joy and toys with my fellow friends.

Plus if I do not do that my post will be limited and my presence here will detoriate in time.

Anyway I just feel this community as a home to me.. I have long forgoten it is a Replica Forum and MAYBE in principal I do not belong here...

This is upsetting ... I myself have historically collects gens and I have posted pics of them here. Not to show off, but to share my excitement with the forum. I now collect reps, mainly because I don't have the financial means to own multiple gens (went through a long expensive divorce) and I love vintage Rolexes, which I could never afford anyway. You belong here V. Don't pay any mind to this crap. The spirit of this community is to share our love of watches, gen or rep ... nothing more, nothing less.

V,

If anyone here, needs to be 'called out" as a gen lover.... aim those parties this way, as I have not bought a rep in years!

However, when I find myself, fortunate enough to be involved with the source of the best horological info on the WWW, I will continue to absorb.... like a sponge... the wisdom available in these pages.

And I am forever thankful that I stumbled across TRC all those years ago, which finally lead me here... to my "home" and this wonderful resource.... built by all the contributions , from a great group of watch purists ( whatever their persuasion)

Forget the naysayers.... this is where you both contribute, and receive!

Strange of you to say this.

When i got lots of gens in my collection i felt a cold shoulder from some here some are very trusted and long time members.

Maybe some cant handle other peoples good fortunes?

Cheers

The reason for all that happened was my gen parts sale which he considered basically a rip-off of the members here.

Fair enough.. everyone is entitled to his own opinion. I don't agree but still I have asked to the Boss to delete the thread because that was not my intention.

But that struck me in general and I thought that if a friend said all those things then many others who don't know me can say the same or worse about me...

The way I see it, we are a watch forum. Sure, the focus is on Reps, but in order for us to move even closer to the perfect rep, we need to understand and know the gen first. I think that all our gen collectors are a huge resource for us. Forget the [censored] and keep doing what you've been doing V.

V,

I will second what others said: you belong here.

This place, in my humble opinion, is a community.

Sure it started up with Reps for all of us.

But year after year I guess it is only natural to go for gens.

Don't let others put you down: it's pure jealousy probably.

You enjoy gens and have the budget for them? That doesn't make you a criminal, is it?

You contribute here and made a lot of friends, well that is what it's all about in priority.

I'm sure that there are lot of members owning gens and willing to share them with us.

But probably some do not want to be seen as "Showing Of" their gens.

Which is quite stupid in the end.

In my circle, I have very few persons enjoying watches.

That is why I'm happy to share my passion with my RWG friends.

I sincerely think that the person who was rude to you is NOT important.

Your stay here is!

Cheers

Stephane

Whether it be gens or reps, we all belong here due to the passion we all share in relation to watches.

Many members here including myself buy gens and reps.

V, now you solely own Pam gens, this doesn't exclude you from being a part of our community, and selling gen parts here is something that Pam fans appreciate very highly. Not only the availability of parts and services, but also your expertise.

It saddens me that someone has spoken to you in this way, and I know I speak for the whole forum when I say you are more than welcome here, you are part of the exclusive club of people that in fact if you weren't here, the community would be worse of for it.

V. You don't know me as I'm generally just a lurker around here (I'm one of the RWG1 'refugees' currently lurking in the loony bin ;) ), but please don't take this person's misconceived comments to heart.

I've enjoyed many of your posts - especially your photos of your gen PAMs (I'm a PAM nut too - difference being that I can't justify the cost of a gen Panerai right now), and I know that many of the members here hold you in very high respect. As a sometime gen owner and irregular rep collector for the last 5 or 6 years, my firm opinion is that being fascinated by watches is the only qualification to belong here or at any of the other forums - whether rep or gen shouldn't make any difference.

Guys it is not really a matter of staying or leaving the forum ( i am not a drama queen.. i ve done that with Elliott for those who remember :p ) but more of the way others may see my contributions here.

Plus I would have said f*** off is he was someone i didn't care less for his opinion and wouldn't considered a friend. That's what hurt me most...

Felt the same way when I posted pictures of my second gen Panerai recently.

I was very jazzed when I got the watch and chose to share my experience here, not to show off but out of true enthusiasm for the brand, and a feeling that after approx 3 1/2 years I was a part of this community.

It occurred to me that the majority of the hard core Panerai click, did not bother to wish a long time (rep) Panerai and now (rep and gen) enthusiastic well on a new chapter in Panerai collecting.

Although I'm very new here, to me you are a gen member of this forum. Apart of your amazing CG's and your very good looking straps, I see that you often contribute a great amount of information, knowledge and experience.

As a former rep and current gen owner I believe that you are a gen value to all of us.

I personally would feel lonelier without you Kosta.

bro. you belong her more than most. the expertise, ideas, and wisdon you've given to noobs like me will never be forgotten.

i've never thought of you as an elitist. you, like many many many of us(including myself) strive for perfection, and to get that you've gone the route of the gens. there isn't a damn thing wrong with that. if I could afford it, I would too.

i love reading your posts, and looking at your pics. it's just awesome to be able to see photos like that here on a rep website.

for the sake of my health, and the health of many others PLEASE DON'T LEAVE. we need your input. your ideas. and most of all your friendship.

cheers mate,

from a noob!

@V, shrug it off friend and keep doing what you're doing :victory:

i suspect/hope that your exchange with the longtime member re: your parts sale was a misunderstanding (written words can always come off / be interpreted wrongly), and things can be mended -- there is nothing worse than broken relationships. these are just watches after all.

and don't forget you still have that rep ferrari pam in your collection ;)

If you considered the "friend" a friend, he cannot be that a bad guy. Most likely he had a very bad day.

Keep yourself open to apologies, I suspect they will arrive sooner or later.
