  1. Yep, it's going to be terrible here today. May get all the way down into the high 50's tonight. If this keeps up I may have to break out a long sleeved shirt ...

    HELP!

One thread would have been quite enough. Send the picture of what you want to the trusted dealers and they will be able to tell you if they can source it. They can all get the same watches. If you don't like the looks of what they have, then remember these are reps. There are no exact copies.
  3. Yes, it just suffers from being too thick, due to the 7750 movement.
  4. I can't clear the conundrum up, but there is another thread going on that did. As for preferences, I hate the domed look, so I went with a service T-22 on mine, which was built using a gen 16014 case. I'm also not using a domed T-21 on my 6265 build ....
  5. Same here. He asked for me to be specific on what case and crystal I was using, so he could turn the proper bezel to make sure it fit.
  6. There are so many variations of the dials and then you have to deal with how the watches were taken care of, that you get all types of dials, lumes and patinas. Not to mention, the way the light hits it will also change the perceived color too. You probably won't be able to find the dial on Stefano's blog reproduced anywhere. At least I've never seen one with the tall crown in a rep. I'm quite happy with my Whoopy-dialed Explorer, with light patina lume and gen crystal. Everyone has their own preferences, so I would just build it the way you like and not worry about it.
  7. Yuki's dials have definitely gotten better. Welcome to the club ...
  8. Mike ... goes without saying that we're all sorry to hear about your illness. It's good that you are finding things to do that you enjoy while you are going through it. As for your project, your are unfortunately up against some things that don't typically go hand in hand with short timelines. Getting rep watches worked on is not a quick thing. The toughest part of your desired project is going the be the AR. I'm not sure I know anyone else in the US that does it for reps other than Vac. As others have mentioned Domi is about the only other one stop shop I know of that can do it all, but he's across the pond. Swapping the movement and the re-lume shouldn't be that bad from a time perspective, you just need to find someone that has a time slot that works for you. Just about any watchmaker can swap a movement. PBdad and Cwazy (over on RWI) have both done good lume work for me (in addition to Vac). Just as a shout out to other members ... if you have a watch that has the work done already and you can be without yours for a bit, think about helping Mike out. Swap your completed watch for his parts (and some cash for the build?) and get the build done again with a more relaxed timeline. I'm not an AP guy, so I can't help, but would definitely offer if I had one to swap.
  9. Well, that's a 7206 (rivet) bracelet. Finding one of the good Yuki's would be your best bet there. The dial looks like a 60's MK1 dial. ND Trading appears to have one. http://ndtradingcorp.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=297 Cant tell if the hands are gold or silver. If they are silver, then go with the TC hands.
  10. While all the pre-owned Rolex options mentioned would be good, I'd be looking at others, especially if he's not "brand" phobic. For example, I love the Glashutte Original Senator Chronograph for $6k. Sporty due to being a chronograph, but understated enough to wear as a dress watch.
  11. I recognized that name immediately too ...
  12. This is a bit of a mis-matched watch. The open 6 in the datewheel points to a 18038, but I don't believe the dial or the hologram sticker were used in that model. They would indicate it's a 18238.
  13. Nomos makes a great watch. Stowa has some similar models. In general, they are reasonably priced gens for the quality of the watch.
  14. That's not all that uncommon, not only for reps, but for gens as well.
  15. I'd like this answer for those of us on this side of the pond. Since The Zigmeister retired, I'm not sure who the best choice is either.
  16. I believe it will, as 2824's are normally the movement to be used in case sets where the 3135 is the gen movement, and that's the movement that was used in that case. I would send a PM to BK. He would likely know for sure. You could also search and see if anyone has done it with the WM9 16613, 16610 (v3) or 16610LV models. They all used the same case IIRC. I also think any of the TC cases that used the 2824 were the same.
  17. I am bidding on donor watches for my 6265 build. I currently have a black dial, but thinking about a silver for the final build if I can fid a decent one.
  18. Seems like weekly a v72 I am bidding on ends up being "one that got away" ....
  19. I pointed you to the thread over at RG about someone working in Oxford station, but did not read it. After reading the last couple of posts, it looks like that guy went South in a hurry.
  20. Everyone spies on everyone, and this was probably no more than a test of a new sub to see if it could be detected ... or as KB said, some sword rattling.
  21. The gen 14270 has a saphire crystal, not plexi. The gen crystal is a 25-295. I don't believe the lug holes are drilled out like they are for the 1016.
  22. You're not likely to get one by Halloween, unless you buy one from another member ... preferably in your country of residence. To try to get one shipped from China and through customs in 10 days would be a "trick".
