  1. Looks good! It must be the cartel version with that bicompax movement- the ST -21 or whatever we call it- Venus, Lemania.... Does anyone know if these are still available from our TDs?
  2. Phong is negotiable, I don't know about yuki, I've just bought his stuff at the listed price. I guess I just always thought Yuki's prices were fair enough.
  3. JJ is Rolexaddict, over in Paris, or France at least. As for CONUS, mymanmatt might be able to help you out.
  4. From the markings that's a cartel version of an MBW! Sure, you can convert to a 5513. While you're at it, see if you can work on those stubby cgs and maybe put a better crown on there. JJ did a deal a while back where he improved the cgs on a cartel sub- straightened them up on the inside and recessed the area where the case tube goes.
  5. Never seen anything like it and given its extremely limited production run, I don't expect we'll ever see a rep like it. It's just too rare!
  6. The issue with the real datewheels is that they are a little thick, but I think that they can be made to work. People sometimes sand the existing DW to make it thinner. Also, a little more space between the DWs and the underside of the dial can help. Maybe some dial dots. Of course, this is where I go to my watchmaker and let him takeover!
  7. The pump pushers (Rolex pn 24-P3)on the 6262 are the same as what was on the 6239 and 6241. What distinguished the 6262/6264 was the 727 movement whereas the 6239/6241 had the V72 and the 722 or 722-1 later. For the crown and tube, the 24-600 would be correct.
  8. If you have a 15000 case which originally had a 3035 movt. in it, I think a 2836-2 (or the lower beat 2846-2) would work better than the 2824-2. I think the rafflestime #2 ring will still do the trick. The DWO with open 6s and 9s will be the biggest challenge. If I couldn't find one, I'd go with the BK or TC overlay and wouldn't look back.
  9. Depends on which model-6239, 6241, 6262 and 6264 all take the 6mm crown and tube. 6240, 6263 and 6265 all take the 7mm crown and tube
  10. Cool pair of watches Nanuq! If you threw in the DRSD, you'd have a triumvirate!
  11. Great watches! If you're having trouble with the 702 tube, try tapping the hole in the case with the 3.0mm x .35 tap. I've found that running the tap in as far as you can helps. Since the 702 has no internal splines, you basically have to use a friction fit type of approach to install it. Maybe a broach or a rat tail file could be used to screw it in. Blue loc-tite on the threads also helps lock it and seal it in place.
  12. Here's an article from Chuck Maddox http://www.chronomaddox.com/valjoux_7750_engine.html Like you say, the 7760 is the manual wind version of the 7750. This article also refers to a 'tricompax' 7750 which is the layout also referred to as a 7753.. At any rate, the nice thing about fredy.g's watch is that it has a Swiss engine in it and not the asian 7750!
  13. Looks good! The case could use some softening on the lugs to make it look older If you did the 8mm crown, it would be a 5510 and the depth rating would be 200m-660ft so you'd need another dial.
  14. Ok R, you're wrong, the 7753 is the 3-6-9 configuration and the 7750 is 6-9-12. Both can have a date and the 7750 can have a day feature also. I can't remember what the 7760 is but of course all of these are based on the 7750- maybe like you say the 7760 is manual. There's also a 7765 and a 7751
  15. That's pretty nice. It's a modern transitional 16610. Here's one that's just a shade earlier- with the old style bezel insert. And somewhere shortly after yours, the 16610 T case debuted with no lugholes, This was all around 2003, which reminds me, if yours hasn't been serviced recently, you may be due!
  16. Y serial- the last of the lugholes and your case looks very fine! Congrats!
  17. I haven't seen DW on ebay in quite a while. He used to list stuff, never used Rolex, but did use words like Daytona and Cosmograph. I have an old contact at dyrcsszw216@yahoo.cn he used that for PP a year ago, probably isn't any good now.
  18. Looks good to me even though I can't really see the pearl very well in the pic. The 4 in 40 would put it around 2004 or after.
  19. That is a very nice big crown and I like the 2842 in there- we haven't ever seen that one used in a rep that I can recall. Riyi002 has those rivet bracelets for a good price. I think he can even get the Rolex crown on the clasp for you if you ask. http://www.ebay.com/itm/20MM-SOLID-STAINLESS-STEEL-RIVET-OYSTER-BAND-BRACELET-FOR-ROLEX-MEN-WATCH-/350911669177?pt=US_Watch_Bands&hash=item51b3f723b9#ht_539wt_1160
  20. A 5513 would have originally had a 1530 movement in the early 60s when it debuted. Around 1965 that changed to a 1520 and that was used until the watch was retired around 1989 or so. Watches like an Air King 5500 also had a 1520 movement. A Rolex 1002 which is a 'Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified' or SCOC, would have a 1570 movement. This movement would be appropriate for a 5512 after 1965 or so. Your first order of business is to decide which watch you want to build- 5513 or a 1680. If you're on a budget, you should look at the offerings of Puretime and Josh which can be found with a 2846-2 movement- these are nice vintage reps that you can do some mods to and end up with a very nice watch- one that is dependable and even WR, at a reasonable cost. The frankens that I've built with a gen Rolex movement have all run over $2500. It might be possible to build a 5513 for $2K, but these are not for the feint of heart- they're somewhat expensive and realize that you'll most likely never get your money out of a franken like this, so you have to be committed. Also, an MBW 5513 is a nice watch which runs in the $400 range to start and if you do the mods yourself, you can end up with a fine rep maybe in the $750 range with some gen parts and the 2846-2 movement- these are a good deal in my mind. I'm just not a proponent of putting a gen Rolex movement in a watch unless your committed to going the distance.
  21. Since it's my understanding that they're somewhat different, I would figure they come out of different factories. But maybe the base movement comes from somewhere and two factories finish them out differently. I would figure Rolex isn't too happy to see this. But considering how good the reps are these days, Rolex probably isn't too happy anyway. We'll probably never know where they come from- we're not Chinese and don't have the time or ability to track them down and you know Angus and Yuki aren't talking.
  22. I wonder if he has a Vietnamese connection! So what is the tell on these cases that they are rep?
  23. Congratulations on a fine watch and LHOOQ and jmb are two fine guys as far as I'm concerned. They helped me build a very fine 1016- jmb made the bezel and LHOOQ sold me the great relumed dial. For a bracelet, you might try the 7836- it's the folded link predecessor to the 78360, but after the 7206. I got mine with the Josh 1655 Asian for around $150+. I then built a 1675 out of the 1655 case also.
  24. Very nice! I especially like it on the oyster bracelet. Like Freddy says- pure and simple
