  1. That splash of red completes the look and feel of it... Dave is right though, that lume dot looks a big green pus-filled pimple that is about to blow... Though he may not have expressed his sentiments with quite the same level of specificity :)

  2. since i was UNABLE to chose in that range of price...i went for a more basic choice...the denon AH c710...i'll write a little review as soon as i get them....i'll keep you posted! (Anyhow, this discussion was very usefull to me! i'll get the high range next time when they break....and i know they will...thats the rule of the market, things have to break so it keeps the market alive! :black_eye: ) :bangin:

An engineer wouldn't be doing his job properly if he designed something to last forever... He'd have nothing else to engineer!

  3. She's not much of a panerai fan thinks that they all look the same..lol ;)

 well they are, there's no denying that feminine logic... I've never understood why a woman needs so many handbags, I suppose our multiple-watch obsession can be a bit of a mystery to them... :)

  4. why would someone pre-order ... is the price going to increase?

I suppose the preorder ensures the first deliveries, also Angus has suggested that those customers that are not happy with the final outcome will have their payments refunded.

I agree with you, but cautiously optimistic they'll do a decent job on this one.

  5. As nice as the new 005/219/177/111 are im actually looking forward to a New auto contemporary /1950 much more than those

    I like and I want

The luminor case is very nice, but like you I'm hanging out for the 1950s case models. Let's hope they fix all the issues before production begins.

  6. I tried lots of models and wound up buying the Klipsch Image X10.

They take quite awhile to break in and "open up" but when they do ... WOW. :1a:

I've heard good things about these too... Tough choice for the OP, but between $50-$150 there are many decent choices.

Logitech buying out Ultimate Ears only affected the consumer end. UE still have their dedicated custom shop where they make bespoke, custom earphones based on an audiologist's measurement of your ear canal... Pretty sweet stuff, and not inconceivably expensive.

  7. Yep, and there was also one with a actual running 30 sec. chrono, but no 24hr hand function. Never saw much of it.

Which rep is closest to resembling the actual functions of the original? I would have thought adding a GMT hand was a few gears, and the 30s counter is simply different gear ratios. Of course every gear train mod brings the datewheel lower and lower and lower...:)

That GMT really is beautiful...shame it goes for so much in Gen form. Might give it the once-over at an AD.

  8. The 005K is probably the best luminor case rep, you'll notice the difference between a 005K and a 111 is simply the added logo on the front, they ae basically identical.

Straps are to personal taste, some like the OEM straps and others would rather go for something custom. There are many strapmakers on the forum, and plenty of new and lightly used straps in the sales sections, can't go wrong.

Just my advice, buy your 005 and get out while you can... I was like you once, thought I'd just get a nice navitimer and that would be it.. :)

Good luck, have fun mate :)

  9. the first one is the gen.. but the rest are some pretty dezent rep clasps

but on the second clasp wich looks a bit polished are this 4 little lets call it half-holes missing in the middle, you know what i mean P right? oh and the writing is upside down :p

but they all look good, but not sure if the open/close mechanism is so good on the reps :D

Come on Deniz! You let me make a fool of myself and then have a 60% shot of getting it right?

I wondered the same about the second clasp (missing slot bits) but the engraving was completely off.

I'm going to plead a defense, I'm seeing this pic on an iPhone 3GS without Retina Display :)

  10.

Maybe they just use my watch as an excuse to chat me up and get in my pants Dave, i really don't know. I just line them up dead in the eye, and I tell them, listen ladies, just because you're 5'11" and drop dead gorgeous, doesn't mean you're going to ply me with Hennessy cognac and have your dirty, sweaty way with me, OK? I MAY have on a droolworthy PAM, but I have feelings... A little respect!

    Sheesh...supermodels...

:D jokes aside, they do love the PAMs (wow, it's big but it's so manly!) and then they look up at my wrist... :)

Back on point (I hope the OP forgives our rather amusing digressions) this Gen PAM 329 is where it's at for me. I vote it Best All-Rounder on the bracelet (no way I'm bringing a gen croc anywhere near a drop of water :)).

You know what? I'll say it. next Bond Watch... There, I said it. It had to be said! If he could sell his soul and drive a BMW for two movies, then he can DAMN SURE wear a PAM :)

*cowers from the Omega Fanboys and the inevitable gang beatdowns*

  11. Total Kudos to you mate...I am not so sure I would of had the balls to give my opinion based on my post...Respect mate :):thumbsupsmileyanim:

I had these in my hand and had to keep checking a couple to be sure so its even harder on the pics, it is just interesting that even us guys can be mistaken so it proves these things aint always as flawed as we make out...including me !! ;)

For all your tatts, I know you're just a big softie Pete, and you wouldn't make me feel bad :) I had two stabs at it, and now I retreat to my hole and contemplate my rep knowledge and question all that I've learnt in the past year :) haha I've signed up for email notifications on this one and looking forward to your upcoming PAM deployant rep/gen lesson :)

  12. A few people had problems, most didn't.

Maybe give it a little slap against your palm?

Also this wouldn't be a problem of the 005 movement but of the A6497-1 movement in general if at all (from the H-factorys supplier).

If the movement is really dead, just get a Seagull A6497-2 for 40 USD and you are good for the next years. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Agreed, the movements are pot luck, send it to one of the service guys and get it repaired, if it's more than 50 bucks just do as Tom suggested. Having it serviced is better as your movement will be working AND serviced so no need to worry for at least a few years.

The new 005... Mmm petit miam... :)

  13. It's single coated.

I've been drooling for a decent 320/329 rep, if the new versions are good, I'm jumping straight on this. I'd love a Gen, and would happily reduce my collection to three watches if I got this one in the stable :) this would be the all purpose watersports / travel / business meeting / date night / all rounder. Probably the best single-watch there is... :) it does everything, love it.

P.S. Don't know why, but the ladies seem to looove Panerais... :)

  14. Great to see someone have a crack mate :thumbsupsmileyanim:

But unfortunately you are wrong on all counts....

Ok ok... I was just testing... :op

I judged it based on the small engravings on the side that goes into the long side of the strap, plus the depth of engraving. I've seen a lot of laser-etched ones that are rubbish, that looked most gen-like but the light favors No. 3.

5 is my next best contender, but don't tell us yet, let the others have a crack :) I don't want to be the only failed attempt :) looking forward to the breakdown Pete :)
