  1. I think the Post Office also closes.
  2. I have had the same problem with 3 movements this month. The small gear that sets on the yoke corrector is to small to start with. Ive had to replace that gear and the minute wheel, which allows you to advance the cannon pinon to set the time forward. I replaced both with swiss gears and had no more problems. Oddly enough on another movement, the small gear on the other side that turns the date corrector wheel had the same problem. The date would not advance. Again, replaced with a swiss gear, problem fixed.
  3. All we have are pictures to go on. Having it in your hand is a huge plus
  4. This is a gen eta. It was built in dec 2012. Ive never seen one in any rep. While the chinese are very good at copying the swiss and convincing you that the movements in your rep you buy are swiss, believe me, they are not.
  5. Needle nose to remove it from the crown. A pair of tweasers using only one side press firmly into the tube and see if you can back it out, or screw it all the way through. You may need to heat the case with a lighter to loosen the remaining tube.
  6. I think on #4 he is comparing the value. A gen movement is say $1500, and that's used. It runs for years, then needs service. A gen eta cost $250. It runs for years and needs a service. Service on a rolex movement is min $300. Service on a gen eta is $125, or, buy a new movement for $250.That's still less than a service of the gen. Let's say each movement runs 5 years and then needs a service. At the end of 30 years, you have $3300 in your USED rolex movement.. At the end of 30 years with your eta you have $1750 in new movements. The big difference is your eta movement is NEW. I think #4 is spot on
  7. You will be very disappointed !!
  8. Good eye gentleman. The gen dial, which is perfect is a very expensive dial, If you can even find it. They run between $3-$400. Most of them are $400. The rep has been refinished and I have $130 in it. You are all correct on the flaws. First the refinisher had to keep the rr tracks centered around the markers. That's why it is offset on the dial. However, the rr track is a tight fit in the case and I am able to center the rr tracks and the dial in the rehaut so the space is the same around the outside. You are correct about the swiss made spacing. My refinisher has different width swiss made, and I think he chose the wrong one here. The plus, I've got to tell you, in person the rhodium finish is spot on. It's exactly like the gen. The font looks great to me. Maybe not micro spot on, but to the naked eye looks really good. Once the rep dial is mounted in the case it looks very centered and on the arm, 99.9% of all people will not know it's a rep dial. So, in conclusion, the difference in price is $270. For some people that is significant. This rep world that we live in is critical of all rep parts. I have to ask, WHY? In the end, when its on your arm, it looks good. If someone wants to see it, and you show it to them, they don't know what their looking at, they see a Rolex, or an AP, or a Patek, or whatever your wearing. If you will wear it like a gen, no one will ever know. Just like creatures in the wild can sense fear, people can sense if your nervous about your watch, then they think fake all the way. LOL Enjoy the holidays ladies and gentlemen, and wear those reps like they cost thousands of dollars, you'll be glad you do. Also, the rep is for a 2 tone. Crazy the way the camera picks up light.
  9. Glad you went with a new movement! Looking good
  10. Are you sure you cked all the screws. Is the cap jewel in place over the balance staff? Are you sure the screws in the train bridge are tight?. Is it fully wound? Is the movement mounted firmly in the case? Are the hands clearing each other? Got to be something simple. Good luck
  11. I think shipping to the US might be a little longer this time of year. What normally takes 5-6 days may take 8-10 days.
  12. Do not touch that watch! Find a smith close to you and let him or her set it for you.
  13. Very easy to tell. If you have a eta. The hole in the sweep second on a gen is much smaller than the eta. The hour hand hole is smaller than the eta, the minute hand hole is larger than the eta.
  14. He didn't say it was still running, he said it had not been serviced since 1969. I find that interesting, because the oil they used then, would over time jell, and be varnish like and would need to be cleaned off and re oiled. However, these guys know more than anyone on the planet about watches. So, in conclusion AMAZING!!!
  15. gentlemen, gentlemmen lol
  16. Simply remove your dial from the watch. Measure the diameter. If it's the same as gen, your on your way. If it's oversized a gen won't work
