I have the same 5514 case with working HEV. Almost done mine.. just need to send the dial somewhere to get it aged. I have a nice NDtrading white sub dial i may install instead. Then it will be a 5514 with white submariner service dial. My white sub dial is already modded. I would just have to mod the feet to fit my 2846 ETA movement...

haha good call Andreww!!!
Thats my favorite quote also. I never laughed so hard as when i first read that!! lol
"I hate Pugwash"
I think its still in his signature isnt it? haha
Lets keep this going!!
5514 still under construction....
Still needs a little work on the lower crown guard...
Here we go, thats better... gen Triplock crown and clarks tube installed...
93150 Bracelet and clasp after some modding. This was a brand new bracelet never worn.
Thats all for now, but i thought these pics would make a nice BUMP for this thread
awesome mod.. I wonder if this would work on my bentley 6.75 with the big date? I could just glue on some gen datewheels maybe? How easy would that be!!
This could be the 'discovery of the year' that you have posted here!!
lol
wow I also had no idea that the crown came apart like that. Its definatly good to know, especially in the case of this Brevet crown.. you can fix it!!
good tutorial!!!
i would go with the clarks t-39 superdome. Then you know exactly what you are gunna get. You dont want to end up getting one that too tall or too short or the wrong shape completely...
I have a gen superdome on my franken 1665 but i have a clarks on my 1680 submariner and i must say its a very nice crystal.
and please be sure to get an MBW or better.. the ones on the cartel websites are horribly incorrect and can be spotted as an obvious fake by anyone who knows Rolex's. As Nanuk says, Freddys single red is one of the nicest examples that i have seen .
All the reps are made from solid stainless steel. The watch weighs about HALF the weight of a real gold rolex. Gold is twice as heavy as stainless steel. The platinum version of the watch is even heavier. There isnt much you can do to mimic the weight of a real gold watch.
thats a nice project watch. i would start with a clarks crystal and better insert.. maybe a gen crown. You'll never find a Brevet one but maybe a old style 702 triplock or a new 703 would be a somewhat acceptable service replacement. I'd do a little sanding on the case to take the sharp edges down and send the dial out for some vintage work or swap it with an NDtrading dial. I dont know much about these early subs so i cant comment on the dial. I would bake the dial for a bit to turn the writing a bit more of a gold color then have it lumed with vintage looking tritium paint.... then of course you toss in the gen movement
