Hi folks, I'm a newbie here so apologies if this is a thread that has been exhausted but some of the threads I've managed to find seem quite old. I own a genuine GMT master 6542 that I inherited form my dad. It was fitted (still is) with a steel smooth bezel from A Rolex Milgauss 6541 after the original bakelite bezel disintegrated. I've tried without success to find a genuine replacement bezel set due to the rarity of such a piece, as you can probably understand. I have come to the conclusion that the only way I can get the watch looking right is to try and source a high quality after market bezel to give the watch back some of its originality, albeit not original . I'd be grateful to any members if they could share some of their knowledge and experience to point me in any direction where I might be able to source one. I'd be very grateful. Hello chaps, just purchased a new omega Seamaster professional 300m in black. I love the watch but the bezel insert is sheeed. I purchase from Ofrei all the time but it looks like they don't have the bezel assembly and insert in stock. Does anyone have any ideas? I have asked around but it looks like Omega are clamping down pretty hard on spares. Thanks

I am looking for the thin wide font like the one shown. checked ebay and one guy is selling them for $350.00 was looking for more in the 150-200 range. Are there any other options out there? Guys of Rolex land. I got one question! I'm going to answer it too but want to know for sure caus I can't make my mind up... (all parts gen) If I will use used bezel with used crystal retaining ring, what will happen? It will sit loose or friction ring will hold it OK or bezel will fall off? I'm asking it because Im so in between of buying used or new parts. New will be twice the sum but they are new. Thanks!

I am working on a Tudor chronograph project and need to find a black bakelite-in-metal-ring style bezel assembly, like the image below. I am not concerned with the diameter, as I can modify the case as needed to accept it. So, anyone know of a good source other than Phong. His looks great, but $350 is a little too rich for my tastes. thanks

Hi Guys, Need your advice here. Just got this one from ebay.. I know, that's why I'm here I'm looking for 1016 bezel for more than a year as apart of my explorer project.. Pics of case bezel from listing were not too bad, looks like someone tried to make 1016 out of DJ. Here what I got.. 2mil serial 1601 DJ from 69, case looks a bit wrong to me, comparing to 1500 and 16000 I have.. The main concern 1016 Bezel here looks wider and flatter that it should be, as for me, hope I'm wrong. But from other hand case is looking not too bad, and crystal looks like GEN.. again I could be wrong. Desperately need your advice. I'll try to attach some pictures, sorry not the best ones. I also compared bezel wit pictures of 1016 case with bezel from internet Also here is comparison of two cases and bezels: on the left - 1016 (sourced form internet), on there right 1601 case with "1016 bezel" LEGIT? Hello everyone! As promised, here’s my DSSD Gen Bezel mod. I guess you can say that I fell into this one. I was looking for a gen dial after reading PeteM’s post on the differences in Rolex gen dials for the DSSD. So when one came up for sale on the boards, I couldn’t help but jump on it! That same member was also selling a gen bezel with gen insert. Well, after a little salesmanship and negotiating by the Sacsah1, I had a gen bezel assembly with gen bearings and click. Very exciting! Now came the research. I had reached out to PeteM, BK, and the member that sold me the dial and bezel, Sacsah1. Pete built an incredible franken DSSD from gen parts that he stumbled upon, so I picked his brain a bit. To no surprise, Pete being Pete, shared a wealth of info on his journey to building the ultimate DSSD Franken. But most of what he did also included a lot of machining parts and mid-case. He did all the work on his own. Being the son of a Tool & Die Maker trained in Germany, I was not without some skills and more importantly… tools! Sacsah1, as I learned is a great connection to the gen parts world! He also had a lot of insight into what you can do and what you can’t do. He has worked with a few of this forum’s best modders on his own pieces and was a wealth of info for me as well. What I learned is that this mod of fitting a gen bezel on a Noob DSSD case was a problem that has frustrated some modders. BK provided guidance from what he learned that works with the Noob case and what needs modding. Here’s what I learned. First, how the gen is broken down. The clamping ring is the part that would need to be modified, as it was larger on the Noob than the gen. The bezel would not snap down on it. CAUTION: By trying to force the bezel on, I nearly destroyed the fastening ring. The fastening ring is a nylon ring that sits inside of a groove in the bezel. I was able to repair it so that it was functional. But it’s damaged. Some of it was flattened and nearly torn. Thanks to Sacsah1, I have a new one on its way! The Noob DSSD is actually pretty amazing! They built it part by part to the gen. Not necessarily to spec, but really close. When chatting with Pete, he mentioned that he had some extra parts and a double AR’d crystal. I purchased the crystal from him without hesitation and he offered to send me all his extra parts for just shipping cost. A truly noteworthy member of this community! In order for the bezel to fit, I had to machine down the outside of the clamping ring to a point where the center groove is cut. So it’s practically smooth all the way down. I could still make out where the groove was cut. I checked my progress every now and then by putting the clamping ring into the bezel (without the fastening ring installed) until it rotated smoothly inside the bezel. I used a sharp tipped Jewelers file to hand cut a new groove into the clamping ring. I later learned that I cut that groove about 0.75mm too high, leaving a gap between the bezel and the mid-case. I ended up machining down the height of the ring by 0.75 mm. By machining the clamping ring down, the rep bezel would no longer fit. I got a bit nervous that if this didn’t work, I’d be up the creek. I reached out to BK who had an extra clamping ring in his toolbox and sent it to me for the cost of postage. With a plan B, I felt comfortable to push this forward. Clamping ring before: After machining: Bezel gap before: After: To say that I was a bit anxious when it came to putting it back together would be an understatement. I did realize that that by machining the ring down, I did stretch the diameter a bit. I decided to heat the ring up to a red glow and quickly cooling it down. That did the trick and it was back down to its original inner diameter. I found some pics of a gen mid-case of a DSSD and saw a machining pattern on the case under where the bezel sits. I decided to cut the same pattern into my Noob mid-case as well. I also sealed up the HEV with clear Jeweler Epoxy while in there. When I had everything apart; I ultrasonically cleaned all the parts and rebrushed and polished the case and bracelet. I used Bergeon medium and fine Satin Bars to achieve that Rolex look. It came time to reassemble the case and see if this whole endeavor worked. I carefully reinstalled the fastening ring into the bezel and made sure that all the pinched areas were deep in its setting and placed the bezel over the clamping ring, and it snapped into place! HOLY CRAP! THIS WORKED! It rotated smoothly and had that perfect click! In order to have the top of the crystal sitting evenly with the bezel, I pressed the crystal in place with the bezel already on. There it is! Gen bezel and insert on a Noob case! So, This DSSD has the following: Gen Bezel and insert Get click and bearings Gen Dial Double AR Crystal I have to say that the AR’d crystal makes this whole thing pop. The gen uses a very high quality crystal that almost looks AR’d. Pete compared it to his buddy’s gen and the rep looked better. Not by much, but better. With this crystal, the dial and bezel really pop! I want to give a shout out to those that helped make this mod possible! Thanks to Sacsah1, PeteM, and BK! Thanks for reading! P

I knocked my Rolex Submariner MBW 1680 against a fence in my yard and the bezel fell off. I could only find the bezel and not the washer/spring that goes between the bezel and the watch and now the bezel is very loose and spins around to easily. I hope someone can help me with these questions: 1) I see that there are 2 parts that hold the bezel tight a tension spring and a friction washer. Is this correct (see attachment)? If so, which one goes first? 2) Where would be a good place to order these parts online? Thanks for your help Bezel_Parts.tiff

My Bezel on the Black Bay seems to have way to much play in it. Is this common? Any know fixes besides Dental Floss?

I recently replaced the bezel insert on my BP Omega PO Cr Ti 45mm and thought I would show you guys what it looks like inside and share some advice. Differences in the bezel I bought my Titanium PO in October 2013 and BP updated it with a new batch in November, so I was a little unlucky! Andrew @ Trusty has confirmed that these were updated and said that BP claimed everything was new. I’m not sure I believe the case has been changed, but the bezel insert clearly has been and perhaps the dial too. The pearl is now centred and much improved, but the most important part is that the bezel insert is now made from CERAMIC! For me, the insert was the only thing that didn’t quite sit right with this rep. It wasn’t really the right colour – too dark and had a greenish blue colour – and lacked the Liquidmetal shine as per the gen. I was still pleased with it but having fitted the new insert, it has made a HUGE difference to the overall appearance. The bezel now shines like it’s made from glass, has that greyish hue to it in low light and the brighter paler blue colour in bright light. The numbers/markings are also slightly finer. It has really improved the watch to no end and it feels far more gen-like to me. To anyone who bought their BP PO Cr Ti before November 2013, I seriously recommend doing this. Anyone can do it. Andrew sold me the bezel insert for a reduced price since the original I bought from him was so bad, but I think it normally costs $30-40. The only negative is that the grey markings are still only painted on and are liable to be scratched off through bumps and general wear/tear, as dredd0606 (on RWI) has found out. No clear coat on top. If you want any more convincing on whether to change your bezel, have a look at the other thread I have posted with pics and a video in the Omega section. How to remove the old insert I tried to take the bezel insert out by warming it up with a hair dryer (to soften the glue) and levering out the insert with a razor blade, following advice from forum members (thank you Sputim!). I attempted to lever out the insert with a knife but couldn’t get the damn thing out. Worried I was going to slip and scrape the watch, I ended up drilling into the pearl using a gimlet tool and pulling it out. This worked extremely well, once the gimlet’s threaded part had a grip it came out easily. Warming up the glue no doubt made this much easier. How to attach the new insert I used Unibond Extreme Power Glue and spread this using a wooden cocktail stick. Using glue was a BAD IDEA! This was because: a.) it left a residue in the gap around the insert (looks like dust in the pictures), although most of this dropped off over time and it now looks fine b.) it’s too permanent, if anything isn’t right when you’re done, you can’t change it without damaging the bezel c.) it doesn’t lift up the insert to make it properly meet the crystal/bezel. If you look in my photos, you can see the bezel now sticks out slightly over the insert, particularly near the pearl. It’s more obvious in these photos than it is in real life and I’ve learnt to live with it, but it’s not perfect. Sputim mentioned in another thread that he changed his bezel insert and used double sided tape. This is what I would recommend. The factory appeared to use a circular adhesive insert rather than wet glue (the type that has a glue on both sides) and this evenly lifts the insert by about 0.5mm, thereby eliminating problem ©. This is also helpful as this new updated insert seems slightly thinner than the old one, so it needs the extra lift. Double sided tape would also allow you to change it if anything isn’t perfect, thereby eliminating problem (b.). Of course no problem (a) either. You just need to make sure you use a very strong tape to avoid the insert falling out and clean out all the old glue to get the height of the insert right. Right, I hope that helps anyone who wants to attempt this. Here are the photos of the process. Be sure to check out the photos and video I have posted in my separate review thread to see how it looks in various levels of light. Part of it has come off with the old insert, which is why the new bezel now doesn’t sit correctly, as shown in photos below Comparison of bezels Bit of glue residue on the crystal that wiped off - another reason for not using wet glue! The unevenness of the insert is most clear in this photo, with the rim of the bezel sticking out over the insert. It’s not anywhere near this obvious in real life but still something that could be easily avoided/corrected by using tape or less permanent adhesive. All that glue residue that looks like dust in the gap around the insert has now fallen out. The finished job:

I could use some expert advice on removing and replacing the Ceramic Bezel on my 116613 SUB TT with Swiss ETA 2836-2, purchased from Andrew. One of the link screws came out and the watch slid off my wrist and hit the pavement almost flat on the Crystal. Not a scratch other then the Ceramic Bezel Pearl Dot broke off/shattered and a piece of the Bezel came with it. I temporarily glued it back on with a tinny dab of super clue. So I ordered a replacement Bezel from Andrew.....and here I am let me qualify that I love this watch! keeps great time and looks awesome! Need the Help on: 1) Good Procedure for removing the old Bezel. 2) Procedure for Replacing with the new Bezel. Also recommendations for adhesive. I have been reviewing the posts and read where you remove the pearl and use a dental pick to lift off the old Bezel through that opening. Confirmation and or better step procedure would help. I have also seen pictures or reworks where it looks like the Bezel was glued on. I would hate to screw this up - some part of me wants to just purchase the lesser expensive Asian movement equivalent (no offense, I have several others and so does my son) and just swap out the movements which should be straight forward.

I´m looking to build a sterile sub with a personalized dial to give as a gift to the winner of a golf tournamente y play once a month during the whole year. 1 - Where can I source a sub case to hold an eta 2824-2? This case needs to be waterproof, at least for recreational swiming. 2- I want a green bezel and as I mentioned before, sterile back and crown. 3 - Wich will be the best sterile rivetted bracelet I can get? I´ve already found someone who can build the dial for me and I will also buy mercedes hands at the bay. I am missing something else? thanks Marcos

First of all, can I hashtag a forum post? I think I just did Down to business, I am having some s#itty luck with my Reps lately, they just seem to be falling apart. My latest issue is with my 116610 Submariner. The bezel pearl (which wasn't great to begin with ) has simply fallen out and of course I have no clue where it could even be, nor do I plan to look for it. Any idea where I can source a gen, or good rep pearl for this watch? While I like the look of a vintage sub that is a little beat up and missing the pearl, that look doesn't seam to suit this watch just yet and I would quite like to fix it. Any advice would be very much appreciative. I'm also still looking for a replacement DSSD dial, just throwing that out there. I also don't have a picture, I think "the pearl fell out" is pretty self explanatory

Hi All, I was wondering if my fellow Hublot collectors would be able to help me out please - I'm in need of a good source to locate another bezel for my HBB. There is nothing wrong with my current black bezel as my watch is the black evo with the silver screws, but feel I would need to spice it up occasionally with preferably titanium/grey bezel, also a Hublot screwdriver advice would be ideal Sorry if the bezel question has come up before guys Thanks in advance Guys and girlz !!
