Modifying date wheels to fit a movement?
krpster replied to watchguy51's topic in General Discussion
As AKTime has indicated you would have to turn the datewheel into an overlay. It is theoretically possible with patience and effort but there are a few things you will need to check first. 1) Is date position, size, etc correct for window in your dial 2) Is datewheel thin enough to fit between original datewheel and back of dial If all good then OK to go. Just be prepared for very fiddly work. -
That dial is freaking awesome! Please share the back story, never seen one of these before.

Could be that the stem is too short. Also potential that the spring tension in the crown is too low allowing it to compress instead of pushing the keyless works. Thirdly could be that your keyless works are gummed up requiring too much force to shift causing the crown to compress. Are you ever able to get it into winding position? If so is the crown tight against the tube or is there clearance?

Why don't you look at the same post you made a day previous to this

Rexplorer, I guess you failed to read forum rule [26]. Not cool.

There is a mega thread over on RG (the one started by PT showing progress of development etc) where members are starting to post wristies as they arrive. Don't want to copy over pictures without member permission so here is a link to the thread. http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=187824&page=262 Mine just cleared customs according to tracking so should have in my hands soon to share pics over here.

Third that. I think if you dig around TZ and WUS you can find some good benchmark data for how much they are going for. -

Oops moments, mistakes in watch modding/building
krpster replied to AKTime's topic in General Discussion
Earlier in my watch repair adventures I had some trouble keeping some of the more "springy" parts in my tweezers. So much so I made this little tutorial for those that suffered from the same issue Actually more for entertainment purposes...but still http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/138289-how-to-find-lost-parts-back-from-the-bermuda-triangle/?hl=%2Bparts -
Happy birthday! Very cool book, I also have a similar one in English. A nice "light" read Thing weighs a blody ton! Congrats and thanks for the upgrade to VIP as well.

Less than the price of a single Starbucks coffee and it will ensure that all the knowledge and info here stays put. Can't beat that. Even Wiki is now looking for support. An interesting stat from their support request header "If everyone reading this right now gave $3, our fundraiser would be over in an hour"

I am with you Cromag. There are so many aspects to nuclear energy generation that have no good solution. Instead there are short term, stop gap solutions to help perpetuate the industry. Also, the fact that once one of these reactors gets out of control (which can be triggered by many uncontrollable circumstances) there is no going back. Fukushima is a prime example of this. There is no solution to the now festering cores burning away in the bedrock of the area. This will go on for the foreseeable future with no means to correct that our current technology can provide, all the while it will continue to pollute the environment and atmosphere on an ever growing scale. Very scary technology. When it works it seems to work well (ignoring the byproducts of course) but it operates on a knifes edge...

Very cool dial. I would be afraid that unless you can colour match one of the existing shades on the dial any touch up would be more noticeable then the naturally worn vintage look it has now. Also, if you only repaint portions they won't age the same and may look funy down the road even if you get the colour to match perfectly from the start. I think I would either leave it as is or do a full restore.

Very nice start! Once again my hat goes off to you for your dedication. I await eagerly to see the rest
