  1. I live in Asia, and Panerai is very popular. It's tradition in Cantonese culture for young couples to recieve all sorts of expensive gifts when getting married, so you see many gen panerai (plus Rolex and other high street luxury watches) on the wrists of 25+ year olds. I've never seen so many gens in a city. Generally HK is very wealthy so no one batters an eyelid (let alone think for a minute its a rep) about what you have on, as it's commonplace to wear a nice genuine watch.
  2. That's the spirit, and i agree. Only in some situations, for example business situations it really matters. It's fine not caring what people think "out in the world" but if it's a closed business situation a lot can ride on individual impressions. I think it's always best to appropriately sell yourself (age, percieved status) For instance if your selling consultancy services you may not want the potential client to think your fees support extravengecies such as expensive watches. Or for them to not trust you because they think you may have a replica. It's a fine balancing act. If it's just peoples opinion of you in the supermarket on a Saturday morning good for you if you couldn't care less. Its potentially different in the meeting room Monday when it's your company and all your collegues that may be at risk of being called out and losing business (livelihood) because you couldnt care less.
  3. Plus 1 on the vans and Rolex combination.
  4. With these new subs the proof is definitely in the real life wrist look and feel...
  5. Thanks for starting this thread...Toro has mentioned the pending release - Im surprised there is no fanfare across the boards. Makes me wonder whats up with the version. I'm sure plenty here would be keen to hear your comments and see some real life pics once you receive the goodies....
  6. Awesome updates there. EXP 2 and 3717 have to be keepers...
  7. Just bought a BP from the seller, been one of the more perfect transactions. Don't believe the hype guys. He's solid as an ox.
  8. I see you have it all covered over here. Congrats on a well refined and obviously considered collection. Be proud and wear them all well.
  9. Great efforts. I'm down with this. Please add me.
  10. There was fairly image rich thread during the release of the Noob 42mm EXP2 - 216570 White and Black dials. I managed some macro shots of my white but not a full review nor an SLR shoot. I have both black and white, and although the black dial is shiny compared with gen they are both great. The black GMT hand with the black painted pin end, helps cover up the ICHS quite well, of course until the hour hand passes over it.... http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/152850-new-rolex-explorer-2-42mm/
  11. I see there is a thread to this end already, apologies for the resurrection of this old one....
  12. I've not had time to look in detail, but is this what we've been waiting for? http://puretime.co/product/pam372-n-11-edition-on-thick-brown-leather-strap-a6497/
  13. Love the honesty Baxter. Great collection mate, keep it up! Thanks for sharing,
  14. Uniformwares are a clean, simple and modern watch brand from the UK. IMO they create very well considered restrained and modern designs that pay homage to classic watch design as well as modern design detailing like the work of masters such as Dieter Rams (Braun). They are popular amongst the creative scenes in England (Hipster). Beautifully crafted and finished pieces in the flesh, and something a little different. Arguably expensive compared to some top reps, but unique (well designed with good R&D) and affordable compared to other watch brands utilising quartz or cheap mechanical movements. There are a few spots in London that keep the range in store.
  15. Yeah, liking that a lot. Beautifully executed as always Marlin.
  16. Yep, I have those little guys. My Kevlar strap wouldn't rotate and clear the case without them. Assumed them as a Gen feature, but would be interested to have that confirmed. Love this watch, a great rep. Such a nice look, size and feel to have in the stable. A keeper, divots and all.
  17. Looking great Dutch! In the midst of a 1016 build myself, based on the fantastic Justin caseset. I have everything except the dial...no reasonably priced options to speak of. Anyone got any leads to any decent and affordable sellers? I'm talking well south of 100 bucks for dial and hands combo......clutching at straws here? Thanks for sharing Dutch. What did he charge you?
  18. Yep an exciting release all round.
