  1. Well of course not but the price difference is quite high. For the money, a cartel isn't bad.
  2. I hope you didn't buy a WSO click spring. I got one of those not too long ago and they're too long. The bezel doesn't turn with them on.
  3. Oh wow. I think I've had all these phones. First phone ever being a Motorola bag phone when I was 16. Cell phones were like a $100 a minute back then Who's got the clear case beeper? You know you had one.
  4. Phew. Those arnt cheap. I think they're not reviewed much because they're very expensive and most snowflake Tudors I've seen were usually built. A cartel base with a yuki dial and hands is a lot cheaper than phongs.
  5. great builds! wish i had the skills. im happy if i can fix a minor issue without messing something up completely i did manage to mod a 1680 but nothing half as good as these. im always amazed at the skill some of the forum members have.
  6. i saw those and none of his pictures really give you a good shot of the pearl or really much detail at all. i emailed him to ask if they were authentic and to see if he would shoot me some more detailed pictures. his response made me uncomfortable so i went to see an old friend who works at the local AD to get mine. when something seems too good to be true, it usually is. used or not, everyone knows you can get a lot more for a gen insert than $60 bucks. i would be careful with deals like these. good luck though
  7. here are some shots of mine ive been playing with this macro lens adapter thing i got for the iphone.. and the ever important lume shot. only upgrades ive done is gen flat 4 insert, rolex click spring, rolex tension washer click spring and washer makes a small difference but it was free so why not. i know its not period correct but i love the vintage look the flat 4 inserts give it. planned changed are flat crystal (no cyclop) maybe a gen AR'd crystal one day id like to get the red YM second hand. aside from that, this watch doesnt need much upgrading.
  8. im having a similar problem. all these other watches are going unworn since i got my TC. truly a work of art. mine had llike 2 pieces of lint on the dial that was driving me insane but i was able to get them off. added a gen flat 4 insert and a gen click spring + tension washer. i know its not period correct for the model but love the vintage look the flat 4 inserts have. absolutely perfect.
  9. ah so you dislodged your keyless works. if you fixed that and mounted the hands in the wrong place, this happens. just turn the stem changing the time until the date flips. mount the hands to 12 then and youre good to go.
  10. I'm pretty sure just about any TD can get that watch. It's a pretty popular model and I know I've seen reps of it. Personally not a fan so never really paid too much attention. They do exist though
  11. ive seen some insane builds with practically all gen parts except the case. while beautiful, it makes no sense financially. unless youre doing all the work yourself, sourcing all gen parts for a rep and having it put together is gonna probably cost more than the gen. if youre doing the build yourself, i can understand the appeal. its pretty fun to build/mod and its very cool to be able to say "i made it". add up the numbers. if it costs as much as a gen would run ya, then sell the movement. doing a rolex build with a ETA or clone is more than enough since they all have closed cases. personally, id go with a TC2824 + whoopy dial and if you can find one, a MBW case. selling your gen movevment will pay for that build.
  12. yea.. what problem did you fix? did you remove the hands to fix it? if so, you probably just mounted them back in the wrong time. take them off and turn the stem until the date flips over. that is midnight. mount the hands there. easy fix.
  13. i think you ^^^ have too many daytonas. you should sell me one. im not a chrono guy but the 2 i plan on owning soon is the Tag Space X. probably in quartz. im not a fan of the A7750. that and the Cream dial 6239 with a ST19. beauties for sure.
  14. i dont think TC hands fit a gen movement.. i dont know how much yuki cases are going for these days but last i heard, they were pretty pricey. you have a beautiful gen movement which im sure houses a beautiful gen open 6's,9's flat 3's date wheel. id go with a 1680 build personally. Yuki dials are pretty good for the money. Whoopy is also a good option. your biggest hurdle would be the case. most gen spec cases that are worth a damn arnt cheap. like someone else mentioned, if you go for choice parts worthy of a gen movement, youre gonna be better off buying a gen no 10406 financially. tough call. i know that movement is beautiful but the damn vintage sub cases are so expensive if you can find a good one.
  15. Yup! I have a hard time taking the TC off. Lately it's between that and my 1680. My other watches just sit in the case. I think I'll go with the 1680 today though
  16. i dont think any sub dial is 29mm...
  17. hrmm. i dont think you can put a plexi on a modern sapphire case.... if anything, you could do a 16800 build.

    Gilt?

that watch aged nicely! im not really a fan of the gilt dials but the patina on that thing is enough to fall in love with it.
  19. you NEVER turn the time backwards past midnight. EVER. bad bad bad. i hope you didnt break something.. i think the backwards date setting thing was possible on the old movements with no quick set. (1570) i dont think it works on modern movements (3135). regardless, its never a good idea to set any watch backwards.
  20. wouldnt it be easier to shave the dial rather than the case?
  21. eh. after shipping, you may as well pay a little more and get a TC. the dial has the anorexic crown. crown guards look horrible. Hands are nowhere near TC quality. Dial print doesnt come close to TC. A2836 so the stem height is gonna be too low. insert printing doesnt look good. pearl isnt bad. the crown doesnt look bad bracelet and clasp look good too. SEL fit seems nice but overall, its no TC. www.trusty-watch.com/bmz_cache/9/9f4e9a6b4c2535e45230b4e24fa0dc64.image.733x550.JPG the print is already falling off the dial. i highly doubt these were made by "swiss trained technicians"
  22. Orly?? damn. let me know what you get. i wouldnt mind a 14060 dial
  23. ebay theres only one seller that sells them so it should be easy to find. theyre decent spring bars for the price.
