Can you help me to find an accurate Explorer 1 36mm rep
Bc1221 replied to PrivateJoke's topic in The Rolex Area
most of the exp i reps are pretty good. i think youre getting them mixed up. ive never seen a exp i with lume filled 3,6,9. the vintage models with the painted dials have lumed markers including the 3,6,9. my only problem with modern exp i reps is they all seem to be either 2813s or SA3135s. the ones that actually come with the preferred eta clone seem to have the wrong hands. the one in M2M now is a pretty good one. 2824 based movement which is good and it has the right skinny hands. http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/175338-fs-explorer-1-36-mm-eu/ it LOOKS like it has lume in 3,6,9 but im pretty sure thats the reflection. if that was CONUS, it would be mine for sure. -
ironically, his domain seems to have gone down. ive only ordered parts from him in the past but hes great to deal with. eager to help and very friendly. quick responses too.

My TC went off to get all fixed up so it's the PAM today. Eh. Flash makes crap pics.

rep prices are just getting insane these days. there was a time when i thought TC was expensive but for what you get and the recent prices make the TC seem cheap. i was really looking fwd to the tudor ranger getting repped but theyre damn near $400 bucks with a asian Clone. $400 was usually ETA pricing for older reps and the ranger is a pretty basic watch to rep. really not sure why its so expensive. doesnt even come with a bracelet.

yea.. id love to know where you can buy speedmaster sub dial hands for a ST19. i always figured id have to wait for someone to sell a dead speedy so i can swap the fat hands on my daytona to skinnier ones.

For somebody who thinks reps are a joke, King frog sure as hell likes to hang out in rep forums. I see he's already gotten around to bragging about his Vette and his Harley. Lol I don't see the ban hammer come out on this forum often but I have a feeling it'll be swinging soon for KF like it has on all the other forums. Good luck buddy.

Never ever quick set the date with the time at 12. Set the time to 6 before changing the date. That's usually pretty safe. You can google why this is bad. There are many videos and sites explaining it so I won't bother typing it out.

Hrmm. Didn't know Ryan sold PT 1680s. The 1680s he had were the ones with the lug holes too close to the edge. PT 1680s were prob the best ones. They actually had the right dial. The chunky crown guards you can work with and would take gen spec (26.5mm) dials. If yours takes a gen spec dial, get a whoopy dial. It's about as close to gen as you're gonna get without breaking the bank. The dial on your watch isn't bad though. A puffy relume would finish it off nicely.

The cartel versions arnt bad. They just need a little work (cg shaping, relume, 702 crown). Of course the MBW is a million times better but impossible to find these days. If you can find one, expect to pay a lot. Cartel 1680s do have the wrong size dial though. They use the 26mm dials so if you ever wanna swap it for a gen/yuki/whoopy dial, it's gonna need some modding. Puretime used to make really good ones. Gen construction bezel, the right size dial. The tube would take a 702 crown. The dial looked better too. Not exactly sure why they changed it.

Some amazing builds here. If I had to pick just one, I'd be completely torn between ceo's 16613 and misiekped's 16610. Amazing! -
One of my many grail watches. Stunning!
-
I don't think oferi sells it. The only place I know of to even get a ST19 movement is from alpha.

First commissioned revision on a particular watch...

Pretty cool Why are there 2 lume dots on 5? -
I'm not usually a fan of gold but that DJ is a beaut! Love the dial!
-
nice work! reluming those rectangles are such a pain in ass! lol matte lacquer should finish it off nicely. just be sure to get the kind without acetone in it unless you want the textured look.
-
6.5k euro?!? Maybe worth $6.50. Looks like a 21j cheapie. Hell, half the gold is fading.

Doubt it's real just for the simple fact that tritium would have yellowed quite a bit by now. The coronet doesn't look right but the serifs on the text look ok... If I had to choose, I'd say rep

Absolutely stunning. The movement on those speedys are a work of art that should be displayed IMO. I was all but done with omegas since nothing they had really interested me much. That changed after I saw a coaxial 57 speedy in ss with bracelet. I MUST have one of those! Thanks for sharing. Love this watch

Best Speedmaster or Seamaster that is actually waterproof around $200?
Bc1221 replied to UnLoOpY's topic in The Omega Area
Speedmasters are not waterproof. Even the gens arnt waterproof until you get to the later models with the gasket system in the pushers. The rep pushers really have no way of resisting water. It's just 2 o rings on each pusher. I wouldn't go near water with that thing on. As for the seamaster. It can be made water resistant. Take a bit more work than a standard dive watch bc you have to take the movement out and epoxy the He valve. Do that and grease all the seals. That should be more than enough for showers and quick pool dips -
Sad story about one of our long term seniors...mikellem

Cancer is such a horrible disease. I hope he and anyone else in this thread dealing with that monster nothing but well wishes. I was never much of a pen guy but for good cause, I'll buy damn near anything. Wish you all the best. Now I'm off to look at some pens! -
Hand's at 10. Must be gen Seriously though. Some of those are downright fugly and the rest are pics of gen. I wouldn't order a thing from that site
