  1. No matter how much I've tried to resist over the past couple of years, I'm at the point where I feel the need to be one of those guys who MUST own a Daytona rep! I know it'll likely have a multitude of issues, but you know how it goes! Anyway, I find myself drawn to this one from Ryan: Daytona Anybody have this particular JF model? Is it decent, as far as Daytona's go these days? I'm not fanatical about minute details......... Thanks!!!
  2. My second trade on this forum and my first Rolex Daytona with an A7750.
  3. Here is a TOTALLY modified DW case. All faces reworked ! Top of the lugs, sides... It now has the correct early "tonneau" shape we all love to see. Note the extra clear and correct shaped Verlux crystal. The only aftermarket crystal that is a match to the original T21
  4. So... What's the consensus? A bit fantasy model? I for one, love the non-cyclops plexi. http://www.puretime.watch/shop/product/vintage-submariner-1680-ss-black-dial-on-ss-bracelet-a2824/
  5. So finally after searching, searching and more searching I stumbled across this beauty, The Rolex Daytona 6239 (by DW) and bought it...in a heartbeat. I bought just the head as I thought the GEN rivet I will find one day for sure. But I wanted it to mount this icon on a Bulang & Sons 19/16 vintage leather strap. And I think the end result is really nice and it is also very comfortable to wear. The seller I bought it from also informed about a website detailing more about this particular build `Daytona small dial` http://www.hqmilton.com/watches/rolex_daytona_6239_black_dial_with_early_small_daytona_with_white_and_silve/ I especially like the fact that it is not screaming Daytona or PN or anything like `hey look at me`...but that is what I feel is so attractive about this particular dial. The subtle `Rolex Cosmograph Daytona` just between center of the watch and the coronet. What I also like about this build is that the hand wind movement allows for a very flat build (guess as per gen looking at the dimensions). The watch has wear on it just like you would expect but not too much. And the engraving finishes it off just right. Not fully noticeable even when wearing a leather strap. So now on to the pics It all started with the watch head ....and even without a strap it is beautiful But I knew I had to get a nice Bulang & Sons leathers strap for this beauty...
  6. He got my money (950usd) for a vintage daytona on 22 february 2011 and the build time was then 3 weeks. Through the last year I have been corosponding with him but now he doesn't reply. Is it fair to keep my money for more than a whole year and not giving me a watch nor a refund? Please help me T
  7. Just bought a nice 6238 Lemania handwind powered. I can't really enjoy my new watch because of those unwatchable fat subdials hands. Any advise on where I can find a proper gen like thin handset ? Thanks in advance.
  8. Good morning, looking for a little help. A friend asked about changing his dome plexi on his 6263 to a flat top. I am not well schooled but it is my understanding the t21 is domed and the t22 is the flat top. Also my understanding that the inner diameter is the same on both plexi's, but the outer diameter is not. When we did my 1016 build, I wanted a domed t21 and we used a different bezel than the bezel that worked with the t22. I assume this would be the same case for the Daytona. If he wants to go with a t22 would he need a different bezel also? Anyone help me with this?
  9. Hi I am planing to build a Vintage Daytona Fap 6263 Would like to show my idea and would be happy about any inputs from you Guys this is how it should look in the End: Base Watch will be a Cartel 6263 like this: http://www.torobravo2015.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=39_214&product_id=1048 Crown + Tube from Athaya Dial from Phong: (it is the only dial I found without the daytona Writing on it... even tough it is quite expensive 450 USD) other options are very welcome! http://i821.photobucket.com/albums/zz133/HUGI91/19-06-2015%2022-19-03.jpg To install the Dial I will use this way: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=145508&highlight=MOD+6263+CARTEL+GEN+DIAL So what do you think about my plans? Do I need to replace the pushers too? Any benefits of it? Bezel replacement? (Phong charges 350-450 USD... too much for my budget) Any help is greatly appreciated Have a great Weekend
  10. Hi fellas, got a problem with my old Daytona from 2004. Watch runs perfect, just a 21J inside, but modded. But the clasp is wack. The springbars fall out, because the little holes are not deep enough. I tried to get a new bracelet, but i haven´t found one. My endlinks are massive and the most bracelet that i´ve found are not massive. So here are my questions: 1. Can i fix the problem with the clasp, if i drill the holes a lil bit deeper? 2. Can i change my old massive endlinks to a new bracelet? How? Because there are no visable screws. Hope you guys can help me! Bye Mecko ps: Here are some (bad pictures):
  11. hey guys, I just signed up today and I'm looking for a rose gold Rolex Daytona, rose face with black subdials, does anyone know who sells the best looking version of this watch? Thanks guys! And all input is greatly appreciated ;)
  12. So, last week I got word that there was a pretty great estate sale going on about a two hour's drive away from me. The private home estate of a jeweler and his wife had been purchased and put up for sale. Foolishly, I waited until later in the day to head down to the sale, and sure enough, by the time I got there much of it had been picked clean (of all the good stuff anyways: case sets, bracelets, dials, bridges, etc. all gone). Out of the corner of my eye I spied a little box filled with the unmistakable little wax paper Rolex envelopes. Not much left but I managed to score some gaskets, a T21 plexi and a triplock crown. Most notably though, was a little baggie of loose hands which I felt was well worth the $40 they wanted. These weren't in a rlx envelope, but based on the rest of the items there and sold, I figured there was a pretty great shot of them being gen hands that were at some point replaced or there waiting to be used as replacements. I know that most of these hands are for Datejusts, but I wanted to see if anyone had any insight as to whether or not theres more than just DJ hands here. So, onto the photos: Not in the most pristine condition, I know, but vintage hands sets are seemingly harder and harder to come by, so I figured it was worth a shot at 40 bucks. First, the steel hands. Hour hand is missing lume, but the two minute hands seem to have a lovely patinated lume and are in pretty good shape. The second group is the gold hands (the steel seconds hands is extremely bent and too far gone I think). The varying length of the minute hands especially is throwing me for a loop, not to mention the various sized openings for different movements/dials. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that some of these were maybe from a woman's model as well, but this level of nuanced comparison is currently a bit out of my league experience-wise. Accordingly, I'd love to hear what some of you all think! I know it may be difficult to examine visually and without precise caliper measurements, but any and all help is greatly appreciated
  13. Hey all! I won this dial on eBay for literally $61. The seller seems to be cranking them out readily, it even has a "Singer" stamp on the back, although highly unlikely it's a Singer plate. These are out of Mumbai and I was very dubious at first but since it's not a significant amount of money, I figured hey why not? Here's the initial iPhone photo's - I'll take high-res shots with the Canon later. I'm not at all an expert on these dials but this is my next build, and I'd like it to be quality. I'm planning: - Valjoux 72 donor movement with Phong bridges, etc. Will find one with rose-wheels, etc. - Phong Case, bezel etc. - Gen crown - Gen pushers if I can find them, or O-Frei if Phong's aren't up to snuff - Hands to be sourced - Gen Plexi What do we think of the dial? I think it's missing the concentric rings in each chrono section
  14. I am on the verge purchasing a dw daytona but it has a eta 7753. I noticed its noticeably thicker. Is this the case? Does the 7753 need a thicker caseback? does anyone have any profile shots of their 7750 or 7753 builds? Looking to buy a DW with ETA or A7750 if you are looking to sell
  15. Looking for a nice modded Spinmaster/Franken Rolex Daytona 6263 with white dial, black bezel, handwind movement with fully working chrono. Please PM.
  16. OK, so I was one of those that couldn't resist buying a daytona knowing that it would most likely be a time bomb. I know that the movement they use is not ideal due to the running seconds at 6, and this will always be an issue until a different movement is used. Here is what I am seeing; I've worn the watch on and off for the last couple of years. Lately the watch will run for a minute, and then it will consistently stop when the second hand reaches the 10 second mark, and won't move unless I shake the watch a bit to get things going again. So my question is this - is this pretty much the expected symptom of a daytona that is on its way to the trash bin, or is this possibly a different issue that could be fixed in some way? I'm not sure what the exact symptoms are of a dead daytona versus an issue that may affect the watch and can possibly be fixed. If it turns out it's yet another dead daytona, are there any other options at this point besides throwing it away? Looking forward to your responses. WR
  17. I am new to the rep world but have been monitoring this forum and few others. I am a current owner of a couple Andrew products. I am writing in this forum due to the recent order of TT Black dial Daytona from him. I placed an order for a higher end "wrapped" case and bracelet (ROLDYT0007A). But when I received the QC pics it was discovered the bracelet wasn't fully "wrapped" silver still showed on the side of the center link next to the case. I wanted to give Andrew a round of applause for his willingness to get this fixed offered up additional QC pics and be more than understanding of my concern. He without hesitation offered up a full refund since the QC pics did not match what was on his site. THANK ANDREW FOR THE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! He advised that gold full "wrapped" bracelet are no longer available. So I was curious if there is any other trusted dealers that offer up the fully "wrapped" bracelet including the center link? I have searched and came up with nothing in regards to wrapped gold.
  18. Hi, I have been looking to buy a rep rolex, I was very close to making a purchase but first done a search on the website where I was looking to make the purchase, found a review that lead me to this forum, glad I did. I have found this topic to be really saturated online and have discovered other review sites that surprisingly promote the same site for every post so i guess they are all interlinked. Obviously I do not have the money to buy a genuine rolex but don't mind paying £300 £500 for a rep that has made serious effort to rep. I am located in the UK. A few hundred pounds is a few hundred pounds and I don't want to waste on complete garbage so posting this for some experienced advise. I like the Daytona watch silver with white face, but I'm open yo any model.
  19. I would like to buy a swiss rolex daytona in stainless steel with a white face. Anyone know any trustworthy sites from experience that would sell them? I specifically need swiss movement
  20. The watch was a custom order Rolex in the 1970's; it's the only white gold daytona Watch pictured is from here: http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/talking-watches-with-john-goldberger
  21. Hello everyone, I^m looking for a Rolex Daytona 6263. I did some research on it. It seems that the DW Spinmaster is a very nice piece. But hard to find. I found an interesting one at josua site, have a look here: http://www.p-cls.com/0rldv00102-6263-ssss-black-asian-venus-p-10041.html (click on the same link a second time and the link will work) It says "the best vintage rolex daytona ever replicated.. surpassing all previous replication from woeher !..." blabla I`ve been long enough in this rep game to not believe any of this :-) But what cought my interest was this "made form blabla..... procured from Members of the Forums and Internet" Does anyone know something about this? I know they build a tudor with the help of the forum members over at RWI. But I didnt find any evidence that something like this happend on the 6263. And what do you think about this rep overall? greetings Arkon

  23. First off, mucho props to members of this forum. I am new to it and want to thank you guys for keeping me to 3 AM for that last couple nights. I could use some help in finding a reputable repair shop/watch guy. I need a repair on my Rep GMT Master II and a service for my Rep Daytona. I'm willing to ship them anywhere in the states or take go to a local shop/watch guy in Los Angeles. I am also patient, so I don't mind waiting for the right shop/watch guy. Thanks in advance for the help
  24. Hey I'm Michael I'm fairly new, I've been lurking for a while but I decided to make an account so I could buy my first rep. Anyway, I ordered a 21j Daytona with the frozen chronograph, not the best replica, but it appealed to me. I've always wanted a watch the the big sweeping hand. I ordered the watch about 3 weeks ago, and the wait for it to arrive has been just the worst. I got home today at 1pm after a night out with mates and have a card in the mail saying my parcel is ready to be picked up ... After 5pm. These next four hours are going to be the longest 4 hours in the world. :/ I just hope that when I pick it up that it actually is the watch and not something else.
  25. Hi guys! A short article from Hodinkee which caught my eye today: http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/on-the-block-a-first-series-rolex-submariner-but-with-a-different-name-on-the-dial Pics: Also for Daytona fans: http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/hands-on-with-a-selection-of-rolex-daytonas-from-christies-lesson-one-auction-live-pics-details Thanks!
