  2. Beautiful shot of the Tudor Black Bay and the Rolex Submariner No-date. Shot in Lausanne, Switzerland.
  3. Hello All, I wanted to compose a list of Submariner "tells"; I know there are a bunch of various model. Let's make a list for the most popular Submariner; 116610LN Submariner Ceramic date. We're not going to make a list of-dummy tells for dirt cheap reps, let's try to compose a list for high quality rep "tells". Let's not talk about the interior of the watch, but the exterior. (What is to be seen for the naked eye.) I know it isn't easy to just make a list, because you'll have to see things; but let's try. Rehaut misaligned. (Could sometimes occur on gens!) No micro-laser 'etched' crown @6" (Mostly found on good reps nowadays though!) Poor magnification on Date. (Less than x2.5) Uneven spacing on the date. Lume brightness does not match between hour indices, non-hour indices and hands. White bezel numbers. (Numbers on Gen. bezel are Platinum dust-filled) Incorrectly centered pearl. I'd like to hear things from everybody, so we can make a big list, for clarification. Many people will benefit from this, since there are usually members looking for perfect reps (aren't we all); this is a way to at least know what to look for! ~
  4. I understand that it's Maron, who's reputation has become more public thanks to Mr. Mayer, but YEZUS this thing is hard to look at My 'favorite' parts include the dial, crown guards, and case back engraving. What do you guys think? http://robertmaron.com/product.php?productid=16262&cat=0&page=4&sold
  5. Hey all, After sending out the 1016 explorer dials to members kind enough to help me with the preorder, I thought I'd raffle one away! The dial has a gen-spec diameter at 28mm, has feet for ETA movements, and all of the fonts/misc details have been hand-traced from genuine examples. The rules are simple, just reply to this thread, and you'll be entered into the raffle by your post order (just your first post will be counted, though feel free to post more if you like!). On Wednesday the 6th, I'll use a random number generator to pick which member the dial will go to Cheers, Whoop
  6. Hi folks, i´ve seen a Rolex Daydate yello-gold on a Customers wrist. I´ve thought, maybe the DD could be top small for me. But now i wanna try it. On Trusty´s Page is one DD that i like. 7. Hello all! This is my first "Big Crown" and second build for Rolex vintage, so I've taken some time to source the parts and it is now done! Many thanks Big Dazza for a great dial and Athaya for a grate crown. What I've got here is Big Dazza dial Yuki 20mm bracelet. Probably will try to source yuki 7206 bracelet. Yuki gold hands. Lollipop second hand from ebay. Silix 6538 case set and plastic dome. Brassy egde, lower the plexi, redrill the lugs hole, drill and tapped for to the match new tube and lugs bevel by me. Helenarou red triangle insert. Faded by me ETA 2846 movement Athaya 8mm crown and tube 2mm fat spring bars. Thanks for looking.
  8. Dear All, I've got a really pretty Rolex Submariner, 2014. Blue lume. The movement is a 3135 one. I'd love to share my pictures with you guys, and hear your opinions. (Just be honest, I can take critics!) If you have any tips, tricks or whatever; I'd love to hear them. Enjoy! Leave your feedback! Thanks!
  9. Hey everyone, I wanted to start by saying how grateful I was to find this forum and the wealth of information it holds. Over the years I've collected a few reps along side a few gens and it was very much so a solo experience. My previous job has me traveling to Asia with somewhat frequency, so I would just purchase a handful of quality reps there and bring them back for myself and friends. Since changing roles, my travel has stopped and I needed a way to find quality products with real reviews., I spent some time googling and never felt comfortable purchasing online as I assumed the worst as far as quality. Well, that has changed after finding this site! I've ben searching for a Milgauss for some time and thanks to the reviews I was able to see for Trusty Time, I went ahead and purchased one! It should be arriving shortly and I'll definitely be doing a review once received. Alright, that being said. I need some help! Previously there was an older gentleman that ran a small watch shop that would do work on reps. A few years back, he closed and since I haven't had the need for any service. A few things I've read so far seem to imply I should be taking the watch I receive in for service almost immediately to ensure it's oiled and working properly. Is that accurate? If so, what type of service should I be looking for? That's only one part of the problem. Additionally, I am not sure the best way to go about finding someone in my town who will work on reps. Is there a good way to understand who will and won't without flat out asking? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
  10. Hey everybody, I am looking for a Sub and have a few questions..When it comes to trusted dealers (ie. Honts), are they really using gen swiss ETA movements if that is what their product description shows? Furthermore..can anyone direct me to the best rep sub close to this full gold My budget is basically anything under 800$, but I can budge for 900$..thanks everyone! Other watches I am interested in: green sub Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Last, but not least, are there ANY sellers that would consider taking bitcoin as a payment form??
  11. I'm thinking about a high end Comex 1665 build with possibly a gen Rolex movement and Phong made case but, who has the best Pisani dial? thank you for all your help and input. Max
  12. ...and no, I don't mean sandwiches, while I do love those as well. Lately I've been debating whether or not I should finally take the plunge (pun intended) and buy a Sub. Something I could hit the water in my imaginary 73 foot yacht with, then dry off, put on my power suit and look just as good in it at work. With the release of these new V5 models from Noob, I've been VERY tempted. Only issue is, I, being as indecisive as I am, have been flip-flopping between the date model and no-date model. I've even had the occasional thought of going gen *gasp*, but that wouldn't be for a while. It seems like this newest batch of Subs is the most accurate yet, but I am by no means an expert. Please bombard me with wristies of your Subs so I can come to a firm conclusion of which model I want to buy (or end up even further confused). Thanks mates.
  13. I want to build a GMT 16700 as I´ve just bought a GEN Dial and Pepsi insert. Now my question is which case would be best suited for this build. I have a 1675 vintage from Intime but the cg´s are ok for a vintage1675 but not for a 16700.
  14. So I was lurking on replicawatchvideo as I do every so often, and something caught my eye...A Yachtmaster II! http://www.replicawatchvideo.com/yachtmaster-ii-11683-ssyg-white-dial-on-ssyg-bracelet-a7750_e851191da.html Is it just me, or have the factories not made one of these guys until now? I've always been a fan of the model even though a lot of folks I know can't stand it. On the rep, the Regatta chrono doesn't appear to be functional sadly , and the "yacht-master" lettering on the bezel is a bit too thin for my liking...but then again, I'm not an expert. What do you think, gents? I, for one still quite like it, but my better judgment is telling me to pass on this one and go gen instead, but nevertheless, I figured I'd share what I found!
  15. Only 4 reps at the mo but I'm happy with each. Thought I'd stick a few camera phone snaps up in one place... Seiko Pepsi Diver (gen obviously) LMPO TC 2015 LV Miyota decorated Royal Oak v2 MH ROO Cant decide what to get next but i fancy a PAM 111 again and maybe a Seamaster 300
  16. I just received a USPS tracking number from TC....and the only item due is one of his new production LV bezels. See his site for more information. I believe these to be the finest LV bezels next to gen. ...and it has only been two years!
  17. Hi there. I love the design and size of the DSSD, but for some reason I am not comfortable with the OGEV/RLS text on the SS version. I was totally kicked when the ProHunter PVD version was released and bought one from Sead. I wrote a thread about the different versions of the ProHunter rep somewhere here. As for the noob DSSD ProHunter, I’ve always thought the rep PVD on the ProHunter was a bit too shiny (probably due to the fact its not beadblasted prior to coating), and have always lusted after a matt DLC DSSD – the kind of DLC that Avitt is (was?) famous for. However as you know those are rare as hens teeth now. To my luck I ran across one such custom watch on one of the rep fora M2M sometime last year and snapped it up. The original watch modded by Pbdad had the following specs: Noob DSSD V5 Swiss ETA Sandblasted and DLC'd by Avitt Stealthed datewheel overlay Double AR sapphire crystal Completely sterile caseset (All Rolex markings removed from caseback, crown, between lugs). Waterproofing The watch was shipped off to Kenny (Matej) for a good deal of customizing including his nuclear lume, a dial swap, and a bit of paint. The whole procedure with Kenny was spot on, excellent comms, he anwered a lot of my stupid questions with great patience – and really quickly, and I couldn’t be more satisfied, he is a real stand up guy. Kenny, if you are reading this - much appreciated for everything! Kenny’s mods: Swap dial to V7 DSSD dial Satinize new dial Relume hands, markers, rebuild and relume pearl Paint seconds hand and bezel indices bright yellow Waterproofing Here is what I was looking to achieve: this is a gen I believe. Here’s some pics of the work in progress and how it looked once Kenny was done: I decided to go a bit more tactical on it and stripped the yellow off the bezel insert. I had initially planned to do the PPP mod on the insert, but kind of liked the look of the bezel insert without any paint on it, and thats how it is now. Looks awesome coupled with the double AR crystal - the dial and that yellow seconds hand just pop, even more so in the sunlight. Wearing it on a black Cudafrane strap (Benarus), as I like the look of the strap on the watch and the Cuda is a little stiffer than the Isofrane. As you can see I chipped a bit of the DLC off the lower lug at 7 o’clock just below the bezel, while attempting to get the bezel off. I was trying to get the damn thing off so that I could tighten it, cos its so loose it would turn if the wind blew strong enough. Lesson learnt and did the floss trick, so now it turns both ways. Can live with that, at least now it sits pretty firm and doesn’t rotate easily. I am anal about the pearl at 12 so I have gone from adjusting it like 20 times a day to almost none now. Just need to look into getting a matt black pen to cover up that ugly chip. So here are some pics of my tactical DSSD Code Yellow. Cheers T
  18. Hey all, A 1952 Rolex guarantee booklet I purchased just arrived today. Of course, after whipping out my loupe, also recently acquired I began to have some serious doubts concerning the booklet's authenticity. While not SUPER versed in different types of printing, lets just say I know what "dot matrix" printing is, and when it hit the scene (1968). Below is a thread I remembered reading on VRF of a similar forgery, and also a nice macro of an example of dot matrix printing. http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/thread/1405105199/Need+help+please!++Authenticating+SUPER+RARE+booklets http://www.caldwellgallery.com/original_copies.html Check out the macro photos below and let me know what you guys think. Authentic; yea or nay?
  19. Hey guys, My buddy is looking to part with his two Gen vintage divers: each is pretty dang cheap! He's not a member here (nor is he into the rep world), so I thought I'd see if I could help him out. Watches: Rolex 1675 GMT and a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Aqualung These are both within the 4-5k range, which I think is pretty inexpensive for what you're getting! If anyone's interested, just shoot me a pm and I'll give you some more details
  20. Hey all, Ever since the original run sold, I’ve received a bunch of inquires on whether a second batch of 1016 explorer dials would be created. While I didn’t plan on making any more dials, I will be making one last batch of 1016 explorer dials exclusively (sorry, no other models will be made) if the demand is high enough. I would be making 30 total dials, but would need 20 dials accounted for to start printing. The original design has been tweaked so the text/details will be thinner than the original run (which was a bit too thick). The 1016 design that will be printed was hand traced from a genuine dial, and then further edited and refined in a vector program to get optimal printing results once the cliche is made. As before, dials will come unlumed, so you can apply glowing or non-glowing lume. If anyone is interested in a 1016 dial, kindly start a list below and add your username. Once the list/orders are filled, I estimate that the dials will be finished/in transit in 60-90 days. Dials will each be $179. First 5 members to sign up will receive a $10 discount. Previous dial version can be seen below. As mentioned earlier, it will be the same 1016 variant, but with thinner printing http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/171126-my-explorer-1016-build-is-finally-complete/ To clarify, this is not a sales post, just want to gauge interest! Special thanks to bangalter for getting this rolling Update: And the most prestigious gold star for tomhorn
  21. Hello First of all, thanks to everyone that contributes to this forum. I have been checking out posts, researching and fawning over a lot of Rolex reps on this forum for a few months now and the information here has been invaluable. Recently I started my first modding project (ageing a Rolex 1675 bought from Kingwatch) To my surprise, everything has gone to plan and I am really happy with how the watch has turned out. To fade the insert I tried all sorts of techniques (Bleaching, dipping in acetone, UV light) Unfortunately none of this made the slightest difference to the pepsi insert. I tried buffing with a dremel and brasso and ended up getting a really nice look. I didn't want to over do it too much so I stopped and re-assembled the watch. A few hours later I thought I might do a little bit more to the insert. Unfortunately I didn't take the besel of the watch before I did this and I have caught the crystal ever so slightly with the dremel. Im not sure if the crystal is as accurate as it could be anyway as I have seen some other reps on here where the crystal seems quite high. Would any of you knowledgeable folk be able to point me in the direction of which is the most accurate crystal for a 1675 and where I can get this? Many thanks,
  22. Was surfing eBay for spare parts and came across this "gen" 16610 bezel insert. The pearl looks off to me, but I admittedly have a tough time telling with this one. Legit or no?
  23. Happy to share photo of the 1680 installed. The yuki dial is wrong. The triangle on 12 is too short. I can't find a good red dial. If anyone knows where to find a good dial, please let me know. -Case from PT reshape cg and lug hole by me -Refinish brushed lugs by me -Yuki dial -Athaya crown and tube -Gen vintage insert removed pearl and fade by me -After market bezel and end link -Clark Plexi -fat spring bar spec -PT bracelet + TC clasp -silver date open 6-9 For Rolli I want also to make 1665 Double red, maybe. Thanks for looking.
