  1. ...was I bidding against today? When I found this listing last week I thought it might fly under the radar because the movement wasn't listed correctly. It looks like some caught on. Vintage Gruen So, was it anyone here? Almost perfect specimen for the 7032 build with a 45 min totalizer. Only drawback is the red date font. My biggest concern now is the condition of the movement. I hope it's in good shape. A bit of a leap of faith. Sorry to anyone here that I may have nudged out.
  2. Nice review of a cool piece. Just to confirm for you, the knurled collars on the gen THC chrono pushers are functional.
  3. Sorry to hear about your problems, especially with your first. Believe me, most of us have been there. Unfortunately it is a normal occurrence in the rep game. There are no guarantees especially with movements. It is best not to confuse QC with a quick visual check. I work in an industry where QC is a whole area of procedures, policies and systems and I am quite sure this is not what the dealers are doing. Although they have come along way. It appears that the weight has come free from the bearing. This is a pressed in part. If you can get the case open it is a pretty simple repair to at least get you going again. Just remove those four cap head screws and pull off the case back. Next pull out the weight to get it out of the way. Then you will need a small jewelers screwdriver (probably 1.2mm) and remove the screw holding the bearing to the movement. Once out (be careful not to loose the screw) you can pull off the bearing. Now set the weight face down on a hard surface, place the bearing in the hole then press it in. It should pop right in there. Then reattach with the screw and reinstall the case back. Good to go. I know I know, sounds easy right....it really is. Good luck.
  4. Not bad! Looks pretty good on that mesh, not a combo seen often with the PO.
  5. Wow! Not a rollie fan or anything are you Very nice.
  6. Good choices. I also suffer from the inability to restrain myself.
  7. Amazing restoration. Kudos to Domi. I kind of like it actually. Wear it proudly as I am sure your grand dad did
  8. Quite a video. Really have to applaud urwerk for innovative designs.
  9. That Motion Link unit looks pretty cool. Where did you get it?
  10. Don't have one but I am interested to hear more. I am in the market for a tablet but can't decide. iPad was the leader for a bit but that is probably only because I see them the most in the wild. Big turnoff for me is no flash. They all seem to offer different things.
  11. Nice piece. I think you would regret selling this one.
  12. True. But why not just keep a set for yourself? Click to embiggen. Managed to "extract" the images. I have the rest if anyone is interested.
  13. How hard do you guys think it would be to convert a 7733 to a 7734? Given the number of 7032 sets that are flying out the door as a result of DW sale I expect that 7734 will get harder to come by where as 7733 seems to be plentiful. Just curious of the involvement and whether it is worth attempting. Looking for options.
  14. Not often you get caught by a fish. Should be the other way around no? Welcome to the B side
  15. Sounds like you have the making of a great project there. You should have no problem fitting the ETA 7750 into the rep case. Lots of people do it with lots of different watches. The ETA7750 and the A7750 are the same dimensions so it will drop right in. The hands is where there are differences. If you have a set of gen hands use those with the ETA 7750. They will fit since Breitling uses a modified ETA 7750 in the actual watch. The rep hands won't fit, at least not without modification. So have it it and post some pictures of all this stuff and your progress. We all love to see a cool project come together.
  16. Pretty cool but at $450....no thanks.
  17. OK. So here is the deal. First off the span of the built in spring bars is too short (at least for my PO Chrono). Perhaps the regular PO isn't as thick and may be closer to fitting but I have my doubts. Also, the sleve where the spring bar is fitted to the strap is designed for one location only so there is no possibility of inserting it at a different location. So the only possibility is to thread it through the PO spring bars the old fashioned way (sorry for my lame photos. Best I could do in my man cave at night ). The only drawback was that the fit was quite tight with the buckle in the last hole on the strap. I have a 7.5" wrist so that should help you gauge it. Again I think this would be less of a problem on the normal PO since the PO Chrono is very thick. Hope this helps.
  18. Nice work j. Looks pretty good for a budget piece. I think others are right, if you take some meat off the outside of the CG's they will probably look taller. Alternatively you could just dress them in vertical stripes
  19. Actually, I do have a POC with orange numerals to try it on (should be close to the 45 PO). I will give it a go tonight and post pics of the result.
  20. Given how much you like the watch I would say get it serviced. Of course that depends on the overall condition. If it is in good shape and you are happy then definitely get 'er fixed up. If it is beat to heck then maybe worth starting with a clean slate.
