  1. Try buying from our TD's or M2M.
  2. I like the fact that, here, sales photos should remain permanently visible. If only because I can check the thread 6 or even 12 months later should I decide to sell the watch. I can then see what I originally paid for it. Anyway, it's horses for courses, or in some cases like RWI more like donkeys! Still the good news is that soon we will have SSTEEL all to ourselves!
  3. I've chipped in over there for what it's worth. Anyhow, Micky fits in fine here.
  4. I never knew him or had any dealings with him but the sentiments here are a reflection of his character and how much people thought of him. RIP, condolences to his family.
  5. With the likes of Rolex, Omega, Brietling etc - the mid range brands, you're paying for their marketing and sponsorship of sportsmen. Yes, they're nice watches when compared to Pulsar, Invicta etc and there are a lot of development costs but many of these brands are owned by the likes of the Swatch Group/ETA. I expect she was talking about the movement being a generic ETA movement. Well that's not a bad thing as they are cheap and readily available. Alternatively, just buy a good rep for 1/10th the price of a gen!
  6. Nice IWC GenTLe, hope your wife doesn't like Amber jewellery!
  7. An old Eterna that I picked up today for £3, that's less than $5! Sounds good to me, although it will need a service. It's too small for me but I thought I'd rescue it anyway. Guess I may send it to SSTEEL when he's back up and running.
  8. Well done all. Let's hope Micky can now grieve in peace. It's a terrible thing to lose ones parent, even though it comes to us all. Whatever PB thinks about SSTEEL this is NOT the place for it. That has been done to death next door.
  9. You're not wrong buddy! I've averaged nearly one per week since I joined here! Trying to sell a few off now though as I'm short of funds.
  10. Would you expect anything less? We all feel for you so Andy came up with a great idea and the fellow members agreed with him to try and support you. We are honoured to have a great watchsmith here too. So much difference between forums in the way people get treated eh?
  11. Micky, even though you were expecting it, it will still be a shock to you and it will take time to adjust. ANY customer of yours that doesn't show compassion/sympathy should not be welcomed back in my opinion. Yes, business is business, but this is community (as AJ has proved) and people should understand and support you. Send your group email, explain that you will be in contact in a week, two weeks or whatever. It's not going to cause anyone problems not having a 'fake' watch for a few more days.
  12. My condolences Micky At least you had a chance to say goodbye.
  13. Glad you had the time with your mum Micky, and that you've made it home too. Keep us updated on the situation.
  14. Good. I know it's an awful situation, but you both need this. If you want a beer later let me know.
  15. Loving my Titanium Seamaster Chrono.
  16. Her comfort is now paramount. She maybe holding out for you to get to her, don't make her wait. Fingers crossed that you get there in time to comfort her.
  17. Take the above advise Micky. Everything else will be there next week, your mum nay not. I'm still around London at the moment if you need anything. Drop me an email if you do.
  18. lol, thread bump! However, yes the sub dials work just fine - on mine at least. Lovely rare watch, much less common than the blue one. Good luck hunting one down.
  19. Sorry, I'm in the UK so don't follow CONUS modders/fixers too closely although I know that there are a few. Try posting in general or use the search function.
