  1. ooohhh that looks classy on the leather strap!! very nice Lonnie
  2. its 30mm x8mm according to the auction thats the size of a ladies watch or a mini Tudor sub Lonnie
  3. Do it! haha i think the same way as you.. I vintagized a new rep Rolex Daytona white gold look with the black and red dial. It looked kinda dumb becasue i KNOW its a new model and it didnt feel right at all. Maybe we should start a new section here called "Future Vintage" and mod current model watches to look 40 yrs old. I think the planet ocean is a great watch for this mod My Noob is beaten to death and looks 40 yrs old haha.. I "over vintagized" it just a bit LOL LOnnie
  4. locktight - its like glue for holding screws and bolts in place so they dont loosen and fall out
  5. im not a big fan of two-tone watches so i know what you are saying. Lonnie
  6. also done!! AND i challenge all long time "VIP" "supporters" to match $20! Just think about how much you have learned here and how much $ you have saved by getting help from other members here.. $20 is the price of one bezel insert that you didnt screw up because someone here told you how to glue it in properly. its a small price to pay for access to the vast amount of knowledge available here! Lonnie
  7. HAHA yep... kleenex, Xerox, walkman, and now the Noobmariner!! Lonnie
  8. I love my Noobmariner.. i wear it more than my MBW16610.. the noob just feels "better" on my wrist. excellent work and great pics! Lonnie

    2824-2 Help!

removing the stem in the winding position? Does that apply to 'ETA' movements? I always pull the crown all the way out, then press the release... Lonnie
  10. HAHA i thought that was only here in BC? LOL thats a good one. i would love to one day visit Alaska.. its beautiful up there Lonnie
  11. Eeekkk!! sec@6! haha i bought one.. dead in 2 weeks.. now its lost in warranty-land never to return.. what a WASTE of money that was.. wow! I was a pretty accurate rep though i must admit.. everything but the crown guards but thats an easy fix.. Lonnie
  12. haha yeah what a good deal! sign me up for one. How do i send my deposit? Do i just flush the $200 down the toilet and hope they get it? LOL LOnnie
  13. uuhmmm thats not a "Noobmariner"... thats a "GMT Master II". If you want an actual "Noobmariner" Submariner you can get one from TTK with the Asian movement for about $100 and it wont have an off center clasp stamp. I dont think he sells GMTs though. A noobmariner is a SPECIFIC watch that only TTK sells Most others have more cosmetic inaccuracies (rehaut, date mag, crown guards etc) sure you can swap the clasps around. Its as easy as taking out some screws and a pin. The one rolex crown stamp on that GMT clasp is way off center.. Lonnie
  14. Heres an example of not being careful as to whats in the background haha I blurred it out for work safe reasons LOL Photo taken on a nude beach... (photo stolen from internet)
  15. nothing is worse that looking at your watch to see what time it is, an you see that your bezel insert is gone!!!! watchmaterial has inserts with nice pearls in them.. they are $25 i believe. Lonnie
  16. i guess it depends on the look you are going for. I like the heavy corrosion look of the lumpy darker varnish but that doesnt sound like the look you are going for. The clear matt spray will just make the whole dial look dull which is a good thing. The varnish will give it a bit of a darker older look. Whatever you end up doing please post pics if you can. I am very interested in this process and would like to see your results! Lonnie
  17. ya i was just thinking out loud more than anything... i honestly dont know.. there has to be someone thats worked on these before and knows an easy way to mount them. Have you contacted DW?? Im sure he would be helpfull. I have his email addy if you need it. Maybe Nanuq can help. Lonnie
  18. very nice. i like the background. Outdoors is always great for taking photos! Lonnie
  19. i dont know if it would work.. but... just an idea..what if you mounted some short little coil springs to the spots where the case clamp screw holes are? I am thinking little springs like inside a ball point pen some something but maybe a little stiffer... cut them to the right length and JBweld them or glue them to the movement. Then when you screw the caseback down, it puts pressure on the springs and hold the movement in place. You would have to get a spring stiff enough so that the turning of the caseback doesnt fold the spring over, and the spring would have to be still enough to provide enough force to hold the movement in place. It would be a bit of trial and error but i think it would work. You could even use a dab of the silicone you were mentioning also just to hold the movement securely while you screw the caseback on for the first time. Lonnie
  20. yep take out the movement and glue the marker back on. USe model glue or something like GS Hypo cement. Dont use superglue because of the fumes. There are a few tutorials here on how to take a submariner apart and how to remove the stem. Took me 15 seconds to find it go into Knowledge base section.. then watch repair and upgrade.. and its the first thread in the list How to take apart your Submariner Lonnie
  21. I only have an abused green LV insert and you are welcome to have it, but i was gunna suggest ebay. You can get them there for about $10 or so and they arnt too bad. Thats where i get mine LOnnie
  22. Hey buddy, Yeah i wouldnt send it back.. you have to pay for shipping then hope customs doesnt grab it etc etc. Ive been there, done that and its not worth the risk. i"ve lost 3 watches this way, the last of which was my new sec@6 daytona that lasted 2 weeks... i sent back to Paul at Pam111 and he recieved it (according to the tracking #) but says he didnt.. and theres another issue also... the dealer customer service and trust. Get a nice bezel insert with a nice pearl and glue it in really well. You could contact the seller and ask for a replacement bezel insert and a new crystal and gasket and see if he sends it. If not i would use some clear UV glue (crystal cement) and seal that crystal into the gasket. It might not help much but should keep it dry in the shower and during casual swimming. Be sure to grease the o-rings inside the crown also and verify they are there... in theory there should be 3 o-rings on the crown tube (aka Triplock) Let us know how it turns out and how you resolved it all Lonnie
  23. well as for the Noobmariner... Its the best sub rep you can buy right now... isnt that an Asian movement with red wheel in there? You can get those from TTK for like $100.. They are the cheapest and the BEST submariner rep all at the same time. i've never seen a real ETA that color before.. looks sandblasted. For the Daytona.. isnt that Valjoux 7750 butchered and modded with the 11 extra gears the same way the asian 7750 is? The asian 7750 is fairly reliable untill you toss this POS conversion plate into it... If its modded the same way as the asian seconds @ 6 Daytonas, then.... tick... tick... tick...
