  1. thank you, exactly how i'm feeling right now just needed to hear it from someone else tbh.. i've read how the dial has a purlish hue and completely different from the gen :(

hmm.. i guess i'll just keep my eyes open for the next batch and hopefully we get people chiming in if the problem's been fixed or not

No worries, I am also looking out for the re-release of the blue dial YM. It was released and recalled within a week. The problem is, why do they not spend some time to make the improvements before the release? It would be more efficient this way would it not? ;)

  2. .

It deff is nitpicking. Markiemark was kind enough to help me out! This is actually my 5th rep. But the quality is amazing. Almost as good as my TC!! Thanks for the help with the Pam's guys! Thinking about picking up a new strap from SNPRSTRAP

Ah then you were in very good hands. Markiemark is a good PAM guy, and you can trust him anytime! :)

  3. Can someone chime in on if there is a spacing issue with the "panerai" or is that just nitpicking?

    Thats nitpicking. ;)

Its a very nice watch, and frankly, 99% of the population would not be able to distinguish this from a genuine Panerai, especially on the wrist.

Its a good choice for a first rep, wear her well.

I foresee that the rep poison would course through your veins and cause you to fall deeper into this wonderful chasm of indulgence. :D

  4. So whilst browsing my trusted dealer of choice this morning I came across an new model that I had not seen anywhere else.

The Royal Oak Chronograph in 41.5mm.

    check out the link;

    http://www.p-cls.com/0aproc02002-royal-chrono-ssss-black-os20-quartz-p-15798.html

The movement is stated as quartz, I have no idea why they would offer this as a quartz, but the overall quality looks good.

I would like to hear some opinions as to overall build quality and if you guys hope like i do that we see a automatic version soon!

    TK

I saw this too, and like you, I have been waiting for a quality ROC to come along.

For this quartz model ,the 9 o'clock subdial is wrong, it is exactly the same as the 6 o'clock one.

If you can be patient, you will be able to look forward to a nice auto movement ROC release in a few months, if what I hear is correct.  ;)

The sec@6 movement worries me a little though...

  5. Haha! No hublots for me either. So far I'm in the Rolex/Panerai/IWC zone.

The only watch I now own is a TC Sub. I sold all of my watches, where 99% was a C&R. I'm pretty messed up in the head. Sometimes I look at my Sub and a I ask myself should I sell it and get something nicer?

Don't you dare to PM me to buy my Sub!!!

    hahaha... the hardcore minimalist!

I think you are the super picky sort when it comes to watches.

Incidentally, I am rebuilding my watch collection and I am looking for a TC sub. You wanna sell yours? :D

  6. I still don't own an AP! And I have no idea why. I like em, but something is stopping me every-freaking-time...

Yes I would not recommend you spend money to buy either of the new releases.. buying an AP ROO rep is like buying unpeeled potatoes from the supermarket. You need to do a lot of work to make it delectable. Which means that you end up spending quite a bit more than $1k for a reliable, visually accurate and gorgeous looking watch...

Let me guess, on a good day we would catch you with 4 Hublot big bangs on your wrists, 2 on each wrist? :D :D

  7. Yeah, not counting that going around with a 500k$ watch not sitting on a Rolls, Ferrari or similar would pretty clearly speak about the watch too ;)

It's a sin, as I'd like to have a "toy skull watch". But the BR Airborne rep is too bad, the RM is bad too and doesn't fit with my life style,

This Perrelet is very nice, but not repped:

The Daniel Strom "Memento Mori, Carpe Diem " would be good for some Grind metal music lover, but not for me:

This is lovable, but again not repper (Romain Jerome – The Death Watch):

And the same for the Hublot Skull Bang and the Takashi Murakami x Hajime Asaoka "Death Takes No Bribe” Tourbillon:

On a side note, I just noticed that your username is almost an anagram of mine. :D

OK random musing over.. yes I would agree with you, anyone wearing an RM should have the lifestyle or capability to back it up..

else it can be quite jarring to the eyes, for example, to see an RM (gen or rep) sitting on the wrist of a kindergarten school teacher with a modest lifestyle.

Actually the same applies to all branded watches, but Rolexes and Panerais are a lot more affordable, especially if you buy them used.

Recently, I saw a supermarket check out lady (about 40 yrs old) wearing what my eyes told me was a gen Hublot Big Bang, 41mm. I guess she either got a huge bonus, her husband's watch, or a strange personal preference for a career. It was a strange sight to behold.

  8. Hi Mr A

I will certainly defer to you when it comes to the A7750 movement. I have three AP ROO's with the sec@12. I bought all of mine M2M, two are fine, the third is the one that has been the source of all the problems. Mine are probably post 2012, outside of the Rose Gold RC which is the older dial design. Not sure when the rep manufacturers discontinued those and came out with the new model.both it and my Safari run fine.

AFA the jewel mod, I agree with you, it's certainly better than nothing, and more than likely improves the reliability of the movement. The single jewel mod that some are doing is probably not as good as the 3 jewel mod, but I certainly don't have enough knowledge of or experience with this movement to say. I believe that Vac is doing a jewel mod, not sure how many. I believe Domi does a 3 jewel mod. This is what I've read on the forums, but I'm not sure.

You are correct, the only way to really solve this problem is for the rep makers to clone a movement that is designed as a sec@12 movement, or at least a module that can be attached to an Asian movement.

This is not just an AP problem, the folks over on the Rolex forum have the same complaints about the sec@6 modified movements that power the Rolex Daytonas with the sec@6.

We learn together my friend. My watchsmith recently opened up a 44mm ROO (meaning movement in a very recent batch) and commented that the movement has improved due to the friction reduction measures taken. I have not had an A7750 sec@12 die or even stutter on me in recent memory, even when unserviced. The 3 jewels mod is done by Domi and I have a watch that is using that movement.. In terms of accuracy of keeping time and power reserve, it is very good. +2sec/day and at least 46hrs. I do not know if the power reserve is affected by the jewels mod or not, but the movement is one of the sweetest ever.

Anytime you have a question which you think I could help, you know where to find me mate. I am occasionally useful when sober. :D

  9. Asking the experts here, as I haven't been able to find out anything definitive about this using search. My first question which seems to come up on other threads is this, does the newer 7750 sec@12 come from the factory with a jewel(s) modification? Also, when approximately did the factory begin using the modified movement in ROO's?   Is the factory mod good enough, or is it just a "band aid" on the problem? And finally is their anyone in the USA doing the jewel mods on the 7750 ROO movement. I know Domi in France does a multi jewel mod (I believe), but I'm a little concerned about shipping  rep.watches back and forth from the USA to the EU and back. Reason I'm asking is I have a RGRC that I recently purchased from another member on RepGeek, who originally purchased on RWG. He's pretty vague about the service history, said it was "Serviced" but was done by the previous owner.I also have a White face RC that's incoming and the owner sold it to me at a reduced price as it has a short (12-24 hour) Power reserve when off the wrist, and that indicates to me that its going to need a service. So I will be looking at a service for one for sure and possibly the other at some point.

    Thanks all

    Hey Big A,

am no expert but here you go, some answers:

    1.  does the newer 7750 sec@12 come from the factory with a jewel(s) modification? Also, when approximately did the factory begin using the modified movement in ROO's?

Apparently, there are some improvements made to the ROO sec@12 movement recently. Not extra jewels, but the friction issue encountered in using 3 transfer gears is alleviated by the use of washers. This started in late 2012. The rule of thumb is: If your ROO came with rounded pushers from the factory, it probably would have a "newer" movement.

    2. Is the factory mod good enough, or is it just a "band aid" on the problem? And finally is their anyone in the USA doing the jewel mods on the 7750 ROO movement.

So far, the newer movements have held up in my watches. Or perhaps, they are still too new to be failing. I know Domi in Germany (not France) and Goin in Taiwan are doing the extra jewel mods.

    3. The "extra jewels" mod has proven to be reliable so far, and I personally have yet to see one fail. Essentially, the A7750@12 movement is a modified one and does not seem efficient to me with the 3 extra transfer gears involved. Until a clone of the LWO283 movement has been developed, I guess the extra jewel mod would be a semi-permanent solution to the movement issues.
