  1. Yesterday was visiting the rafflestime store and they sell the R-buckle if You want to get one later on. Imo the green shark skin looks awesome and much compliments the watch. As for straps on R. very generally I think they look great and may be very comfortable. Using straps longterm all the time, not on all, but on some:)
  2. Hi, I´m not a specialist on these but as a general rule try to buy only a watch that has been purchased, reviewed and pictured by a member. That way You get to see what is otherwise "hidden" or not mentioned. Skip the others. 1:1 and used a genuine doesn´t mean too much either in relation to the gen because of limitations in caseset thickness or dial position, although it does imply that other models are better. For this specific watch I would go with the somewhat similar OS20 quartz version, these are normally microsteppers so the chrono seconds should sweep, it´s the FM046c if You search on the site with "same caseset as the A7750" version, which is generally a good sign. As nothings breaks, squeaks or rattles on a quartz, I find them often to better replicate a gen feeling and reliability, but that´s just my opinion.
  3. Now that´s a watch with it´s roots way back in time and a story to tell. Great, congrats
  4. What I find to be really comfortable is a leather NATO from cheapestnatostraps.com, like this:
  5. Normally I´d say just use the leatherband with a standard or (rep) Rolex buckle, if You want You find a deployant clasp as well. Some places to have a look are strappedfortime and watchbandcenter.com for deployants and straps, I´d recommend Martu straps for a nice vintage leather (ships the week it´s ordered)
  6. No links, but was actually wearing this today on a RAF-strap:) and 2 days ago on an excellent supreme XL NATO from Miros time in the EU, goes well with a vintage Martu strap too:
  7. It´s always terrible when tragedy suddenly strikes. So sorry to hear this sad news. It is never easy to loose a parent, no matter your age. I pray for your peace and comfort as you continue to rebuild your life, Legend. A fighting Falcon never surrenders. Words are never adequate in moments like these. May God's peace be with you. We from rwg hope that the love of family and friends will comfort and strengthen you in the days ahead. Sincerest regards
  8. I just love it when You take one glance at a watch and immediately notice it´s something very special - and this one does it. Beautiful Datejust - congrats:)
  9. Great and well done story with the pics interlaced. This was very enjoyable:) thanks
  10. It´s a Bulang&Sons type handmade, goat&calf leather Martu strap from South-America, ships the week it´s ordered and my fav. 20mm strap: http://www.martuleather.com/store/p47/Slim_hand_vintage_brown_Leather_Watch_Strap.html
  11. That´s one big find:) And it´s a Glashutte. Thickness at 11mm, small seconds is fine and the seethrough caseback - on a quartz - is quite unique. It´s really got a lot of appeal at that pricetag. The Lago GMT would be an option 4me if it did not have the large ticking second hand.
  12. Hi, please read the Noob introductory section as well before buying, but I just checked and You´re right, so here´s Toro´s updated link with the special offer section, choose one non-chrono or a non-chrono and a chrono at once and all will be fine: http://www.torobravo2015.com/index.php?route=product/special
  13. With lower priced gens Seiko&Citizen still offer the best value for money in my opinion, although that "Datejust" looks very nice.
  14. That´s a great Wilton Precisionist Chronograph with one of the smoothest sweeping seconds hand ever (16 beats per second, not 6 or and a 1/1000th sec precision chronograph. Waterresistant to 50 meter, no lume as it´s a (rather large) dresswatch for the conservative Tech-Guy. An electric Bulova was also the first watch that stayed on the moon when Astronauts left and the other watch generally used on Apollo missions (as it was not known how automatics would behave in space - one of the Omega Moonwatches popped the crystal) Quartz watches are great to use for "hit"-sports like Golf, Motorcycling or Trap-shooting where it´s better/reasonable not to have an auto. Here´s mine with the black dial:)
  15. It may happen that ith a TD it simply just doesn´t work out. Can´t You just ak for Your money back and that´s it? As Gentle said try Toro and Supermirrors, I´d agree on that and regularly use them both. As for Omegas the Seamaster 300 Coaxial is available and it´s a fantastic watch, very happy with the looks&feel, it´s very well done:) Lume is not fantastic, looks good but it´s weak and wears off fast, only flaw on this one, the pic was just after luming it up
  16. no mods V5.1 Diver, still a superb watch to wear:)
  17. There is nothing like the beauty of a smooth sweeping second hand of an automatic. Still when it comes to chronos You actually want to use many of us also go for simple quartz-models, they are inexpensive and reliable and "the feel" of a rep-quartz is the same of a gen-quartz - unlike some other models which on the outside look good but at the inside just have an asian movement and not an audemars piguet, lange or patek work-of-art one. Once You start looking there are some interesting quartz around like the Tag Aquaracer Grande Date (really excellent quality and gen-like function - You should add one to Your collection, maybe in black it looks even better) or the Tudor Heritage Chrono which has no ticking seconds. Other models either have only a small ticking subdial second hand or come with a microstepper (sweeping) movement. You can get almost any model ever made in a quartz version, still many quartz unfortunately also are of inferior looks quality (bad lume, no sapphire crystal etc.). I really wouldn´t mind for the makers to produce a closed caseback/ no running seconds, well lumed PAM with a quartz movement inside and offer it as a cheap alternative to their highly decorated - and because of that - sometimes prone to failure auto-movements. This other one is all wrong subdialwise but still it´s cheap and as a beaterwatch feels good - it really depends on the occasion and what You´re using the watch for:
  18. This will be an interesting project to follow, anxiously waiting:)
  19. There are inexpensive quartz versions with microstepper available that are 99% reliable, they say automatic on the dial. The other reliable one is the non-chrono, handwound Portuguese Fa. Jones, no-date with with a reliable and decorated 6497 movement inside, running seconds at 6, at 11mm thickness it´s a thin dresswatch and beautifully made (several models, You need to find the right one).
  20. Great insight and background info on 2 rarely seen reps. Very informative pics too, thanks for sharing, very well done.
  21. It´s a beauty, I love the 369 dials with nicely aged puffy lume and the insert with the red dot, gilt all around and a nice Brevet crown. It just looks great, thanks for the pics:)
