  1. My little chart says the gen has a 24-603 crown and a 24-5330 tube. but the rep could easily be a 24-600 crown and a 24-6000 tube- you'll just have to take it apart and see! The 24-5330 tube takes a 2.5mm hole and the 24-6000 tube takes a 3.0mm hole in the case
  2. Beautiful watch Stephane! Clapton's Daytona went for $1.4 million including buyer's premium this time around-amazing!
  3. Yup, it's always a chore to make a DW bezel fit the gen crystal- as I recall, I had to remove around 2 tenths of a mm to make it fit over the crystal. Looks good!
  4. Rehaut height looks a tad slim- kinda like a noobmariner case. Date mag doesn't bother me, but the cgs could use a trim. It'll work for a beater.
  5. Aren't they just inexpensive watches made in China?
  6. No, that's almost 1000%- qualifies him for the AH award of the year!
  7. Check with Freddy333- he put a 1570 in an MBW case when he built his 1665- I think he made a slight case mod, and added a working HE valve. No matter what you do, it will always be a rep midcase and you can't go wrong with the MBW IMO.
  8. I've had good luck with the 2813 lately. But if you want the 2836-2, why not go with the a2836-2 http://www.intime.co/rollie/1513-gmt-master-ii-116710blnr-noob-black-blue-ceramic-bezel-on-ss-bracelet-a2836.html I just don't know if you pay the extra for the swiss 2836-2, that's what you'll actually get. What if you spend the extra $80 and only get an asian 2836-2? I think the cases, etc on these are all the same- just the movement is different.
  9. Separate the retaining ring from the bezel. Install the retaining ring on the crystal with the crystal press. See if you can bend the flat washer and install it and then the bezel. Like Highoey says, if need be you can always add another washer Or you try to pick up some other parts and see if they fit better
  10. Looks ok to me- flat top 3 in 78360 and dimple in springbar in clasp for adjusting length of bracelet are Rolex characteristics.
  11. Most people use a watchmaker to assemble a V72 Daytona. I used 2 different watchmakers to assemble my 6238. My problem was that the pre-Carrera Heuer movement that I wanted to use had plates that were too big to fit in the DW 6239 case that I was trying to use- I ended up using a Wittnauer V72 movement instead and it all came together. Valjoux would make slight modifications to the movements to accommodate the watch manufacturer's specific needs. This could easily be the case with your Enicar. If the spacers are a part of your movement, the movement may not be suitable for a 6239 (or any other Daytona) build. Can you remove the spacers? If not, the chances of finding another movement top plate could be tough. It would be too bad, because the 726 is a great late Valjoux movement with the 21,600 bph and is perfect especially for a 6263/6265 build, matching most closely the 727 made by Rolex. It would help if you could post some pics. You also might consider seeking professional help. I don't know where you are but knowing your location would be useful, we might be able to point you in the right direction to find help.
  12. If it's gen like construction with the flat washer in there, you can bend the washer a little and it will keep the bezel from free spinning so much
  13. I'm with Mendota here, the 6694 's only drawback is the daily winding- it could be wear and tear on the crown and tube as opposed to the AK which you maybe adjust timewise once, twice, three times a month. I like the 1500 Date model from the same time period as the 6694- automatic and w/ date and typically not much more than the 6694 costwise.
  14. 455Bs worked on my 16014 gen case- think they came from WSO
  15. Oops, that minute hand is too fat- it's for an LV sub. Otherwise, the watch looks good. Wonder who sells an aged set of Mercedes hands to fit an eta?
  16. A DW bezel can be made to fit a gen crystal- you just need to sand the inside diameter to make it larger- a tenth or twentieth of a mm. It's slow work, but take your time and keep fitting it so you don't over sand.
  17. Summer Solstice in three days- can't get much closer than that!
  18. Here's the cartel case with the trimmed cgs and a 702 crown- still short but not as bad since they're thinner. 702 crown is also shorter than a 703
  19. I think the 703 crown and tube assembly came around in 1980 or so- about the time of the 16800. They may have still used the 702 on the 1680/1665/5513 for a while. And of course, the service replacements are all 703s these days
  20. I'm very pleased with the Seiko NH35A movement- seems to be pretty accurate- maybe a little more so than the Miyota 8215. But the Japanese movements beat the DG2813 hands down in my book for reliability. But they also cost roughly 50% more.
  21. Can you take it apart? That's what you'll have to do to determine if it's gen-like construction. Likewise, it would be interesting to see the construction of a 16622 from TC or BK- I'm assuming that they are similar to the 16610. Since the 116622 looks similar to the 16622, you would think that the bezel construction is similar- but then why did Rolex give it a new model number? Does the gen have a new movement inside?
  22. It's the cartel 5513 case. Mine is similarly marked STAILESS STEEL and has the same SN, caseback says 5512 on mine. Looks like you've trimmed the fat stubby crown guards down and drilled the lugholes. I also filed the area down between the crown guards, retapped the case and installed a 702 tube and crown. I tried an aftermarket T-19 but it was loose on the case so I stuck with the rep high dome crystal like yours. Mine came from Josh.
  23. Thanks for sharing! This is probably a dying art form since the 6538 hasn't been made in over 55 years and Rolex probably wouldn't touch one at this point in time. I put a 7020 tube in a cartel 5513 case last night. The 3mm x .35 tap left a slightly too big hole in the case- resorted to epoxy- never a victory when you resort to epoxy! Guess I could have gone with the 7030 tube, but I wanted the 702 crown look.
