  1. ...and no, I don't mean sandwiches, while I do love those as well. Lately I've been debating whether or not I should finally take the plunge (pun intended) and buy a Sub. Something I could hit the water in my imaginary 73 foot yacht with, then dry off, put on my power suit and look just as good in it at work. With the release of these new V5 models from Noob, I've been VERY tempted. Only issue is, I, being as indecisive as I am, have been flip-flopping between the date model and no-date model. I've even had the occasional thought of going gen *gasp*, but that wouldn't be for a while. It seems like this newest batch of Subs is the most accurate yet, but I am by no means an expert. Please bombard me with wristies of your Subs so I can come to a firm conclusion of which model I want to buy (or end up even further confused). Thanks mates.
  2. I want to build a GMT 16700 as I´ve just bought a GEN Dial and Pepsi insert. Now my question is which case would be best suited for this build. I have a 1675 vintage from Intime but the cg´s are ok for a vintage1675 but not for a 16700.
  3. So I was lurking on replicawatchvideo as I do every so often, and something caught my eye...A Yachtmaster II! http://www.replicawatchvideo.com/yachtmaster-ii-11683-ssyg-white-dial-on-ssyg-bracelet-a7750_e851191da.html Is it just me, or have the factories not made one of these guys until now? I've always been a fan of the model even though a lot of folks I know can't stand it. On the rep, the Regatta chrono doesn't appear to be functional sadly , and the "yacht-master" lettering on the bezel is a bit too thin for my liking...but then again, I'm not an expert. What do you think, gents? I, for one still quite like it, but my better judgment is telling me to pass on this one and go gen instead, but nevertheless, I figured I'd share what I found!
  4. Only 4 reps at the mo but I'm happy with each. Thought I'd stick a few camera phone snaps up in one place... Seiko Pepsi Diver (gen obviously) LMPO TC 2015 LV Miyota decorated Royal Oak v2 MH ROO Cant decide what to get next but i fancy a PAM 111 again and maybe a Seamaster 300
  5. I just received a USPS tracking number from TC....and the only item due is one of his new production LV bezels. See his site for more information. I believe these to be the finest LV bezels next to gen. ...and it has only been two years!
  6. Happy to share photo of the 1680 installed. The yuki dial is wrong. The triangle on 12 is too short. I can't find a good red dial. If anyone knows where to find a good dial, please let me know. -Case from PT reshape cg and lug hole by me -Refinish brushed lugs by me -Yuki dial -Athaya crown and tube -Gen vintage insert removed pearl and fade by me -After market bezel and end link -Clark Plexi -fat spring bar spec -PT bracelet + TC clasp -silver date open 6-9 For Rolli I want also to make 1665 Double red, maybe. Thanks for looking.
  7. Hi all! Took delivery of this a while back...haven't had a chance to type this up. TC was very responsive from the start and after 7 weeks of anxious waiting, it finally got delivered to my office. I was like a kid on Christmas day! I requested for the insert to be left unmounted as I was planning on sourcing a gen insert. The TC 16610 insert came packaged separately and looks like quite an improvement from the previous version. Although side-by-side with a gen, there's some scope for improvement with the pearl. Not criticising TC's efforts whatsoever as I can see why it's such a challenge as the gen is truly remarkable. TC is a true artist and gentleman in every sense. I'd been studying these at second hand watch shops throughout London for months prior to receiving the watch and was very impressed by it. A common comment that's made about the TC bracelet is that the first link is stamped with 93250, but in my "research", I was surprised that I encountered quite a few re-conditioned 16610s did not have it. Apparently Rolex stopped doing it in later versions and in later phases of production. Out of the box, the bracelet was a little stiff compared to the gens, but as TC has pointed out in his blog, this is a CNY350 vs a USD1000 gen. A very resourceful member posted about a bracelet "spa" treatment, which involves soaking the bracelet overnight in Johnson's baby oil, which worked like a charm. Feels fantastic now. I must admit, the middle section of the SEL appears to be raised higher than the gens I've seen, so I'm a bit unsure about that. TC reckons that the sample used as datum had such raised middle sections, but I am yet to encounter one. Has anyone out there? The crown stamp on the buckle is not quite as clearly defined as a gen, but is far better than any other rep I've encountered. The bezel click is fairly close to a gen too, although is not quite as smooth. The KH dial is a work of art and is what carries this tightly executed package. The lacquered sheen on the dial, the silver surrounding the dials, the print on the dial is executed to an incredibly high standard and is what sets the TC v6 in a different league from the others. The lume is perfectly applied and glows in the same colour and intensity as the gen insert! That cannot be easy to do! The latest DWO is also fantastic, being slightly raised, and with a slight gloss, it really does "scream gen"! The crown is excellent too, as well the CGs. Difficult to distinguish from a gen, even when placed side by side due to the variances between the gen production series'. I have felt compelled to wear it every day since I received it and can't stop looking at it. It's like wearing a piece of art on my wrist. Oh and lastly, it keeps great time too
  8. Hey all, A 1952 Rolex guarantee booklet I purchased just arrived today. Of course, after whipping out my loupe, also recently acquired I began to have some serious doubts concerning the booklet's authenticity. While not SUPER versed in different types of printing, lets just say I know what "dot matrix" printing is, and when it hit the scene (1968). Below is a thread I remembered reading on VRF of a similar forgery, and also a nice macro of an example of dot matrix printing. http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/thread/1405105199/Need+help+please!++Authenticating+SUPER+RARE+booklets http://www.caldwellgallery.com/original_copies.html Check out the macro photos below and let me know what you guys think. Authentic; yea or nay?
  9. Hi there. I love the design and size of the DSSD, but for some reason I am not comfortable with the OGEV/RLS text on the SS version. I was totally kicked when the ProHunter PVD version was released and bought one from Sead. I wrote a thread about the different versions of the ProHunter rep somewhere here. As for the noob DSSD ProHunter, I’ve always thought the rep PVD on the ProHunter was a bit too shiny (probably due to the fact its not beadblasted prior to coating), and have always lusted after a matt DLC DSSD – the kind of DLC that Avitt is (was?) famous for. However as you know those are rare as hens teeth now. To my luck I ran across one such custom watch on one of the rep fora M2M sometime last year and snapped it up. The original watch modded by Pbdad had the following specs: Noob DSSD V5 Swiss ETA Sandblasted and DLC'd by Avitt Stealthed datewheel overlay Double AR sapphire crystal Completely sterile caseset (All Rolex markings removed from caseback, crown, between lugs). Waterproofing The watch was shipped off to Kenny (Matej) for a good deal of customizing including his nuclear lume, a dial swap, and a bit of paint. The whole procedure with Kenny was spot on, excellent comms, he anwered a lot of my stupid questions with great patience – and really quickly, and I couldn’t be more satisfied, he is a real stand up guy. Kenny, if you are reading this - much appreciated for everything! Kenny’s mods: Swap dial to V7 DSSD dial Satinize new dial Relume hands, markers, rebuild and relume pearl Paint seconds hand and bezel indices bright yellow Waterproofing Here is what I was looking to achieve: this is a gen I believe. Here’s some pics of the work in progress and how it looked once Kenny was done: I decided to go a bit more tactical on it and stripped the yellow off the bezel insert. I had initially planned to do the PPP mod on the insert, but kind of liked the look of the bezel insert without any paint on it, and thats how it is now. Looks awesome coupled with the double AR crystal - the dial and that yellow seconds hand just pop, even more so in the sunlight. Wearing it on a black Cudafrane strap (Benarus), as I like the look of the strap on the watch and the Cuda is a little stiffer than the Isofrane. As you can see I chipped a bit of the DLC off the lower lug at 7 o’clock just below the bezel, while attempting to get the bezel off. I was trying to get the damn thing off so that I could tighten it, cos its so loose it would turn if the wind blew strong enough. Lesson learnt and did the floss trick, so now it turns both ways. Can live with that, at least now it sits pretty firm and doesn’t rotate easily. I am anal about the pearl at 12 so I have gone from adjusting it like 20 times a day to almost none now. Just need to look into getting a matt black pen to cover up that ugly chip. So here are some pics of my tactical DSSD Code Yellow. Cheers T
  10. Hey guys, My buddy is looking to part with his two Gen vintage divers: each is pretty dang cheap! He's not a member here (nor is he into the rep world), so I thought I'd see if I could help him out. Watches: Rolex 1675 GMT and a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Aqualung These are both within the 4-5k range, which I think is pretty inexpensive for what you're getting! If anyone's interested, just shoot me a pm and I'll give you some more details

  12. Hello First of all, thanks to everyone that contributes to this forum. I have been checking out posts, researching and fawning over a lot of Rolex reps on this forum for a few months now and the information here has been invaluable. Recently I started my first modding project (ageing a Rolex 1675 bought from Kingwatch) To my surprise, everything has gone to plan and I am really happy with how the watch has turned out. To fade the insert I tried all sorts of techniques (Bleaching, dipping in acetone, UV light) Unfortunately none of this made the slightest difference to the pepsi insert. I tried buffing with a dremel and brasso and ended up getting a really nice look. I didn't want to over do it too much so I stopped and re-assembled the watch. A few hours later I thought I might do a little bit more to the insert. Unfortunately I didn't take the besel of the watch before I did this and I have caught the crystal ever so slightly with the dremel. Im not sure if the crystal is as accurate as it could be anyway as I have seen some other reps on here where the crystal seems quite high. Would any of you knowledgeable folk be able to point me in the direction of which is the most accurate crystal for a 1675 and where I can get this? Many thanks,
  13. Hi guys, The 1016 is a special model for me. Have owned a couple of cheap reps earlier, but decided to put in some funds. Would like to share with you some pictures: And why have a pretty movement if you're not gonna show it off? ...and for all you puritans - caseback is still left, no worries Well, as most of you saw from the case profile and lugs, this is a 1601 based franken. Full parts list: *1966 Gilt 1016 Explorer dial (this type was used 64-66, before that chapter ring and after non-gilt) *Tritium hands (allegedly from a 1964 gilt 5513 sub) *Tropic 22 superdome crystal *JMB custom made bezel (thanks mate!) *Rolex 1601 case, non-drilled lugs *Rolex 1570 non-hacking movement (recently serviced, date parts removed) - correct for a 1965+ build (before that 1560) *Display caseback from Custom Watch Concepts (and a 1966 1016 caseback just for show - doesn't fit the case!) *Yuki 7206 bracelet, fixed endlinks squeezed in Must take this opportunity to thank others who have gone this path (alligoat and most of all ubi!) for the inspiration - for me the gilt 1016 dial together with the slender 160x case is the perfect combination, heck like it even better than the gen 1016 case! Thanks also goes out to lhooq for helping me along the way and Domi for assembling this. Might consider drilling out the lugs (if I can find anyone with the guts to do it lol!) and upgrading the bracelet and endlinks - but honestly this feels good as it is and I wear it all the time right now. Thank you for looking, and please do comment with suggestions, questions or thoughts - as always much appreciated! Yes, even things like "are you sure that superdome is gen?" is good to hear in the long run...
  14. Was surfing eBay for spare parts and came across this "gen" 16610 bezel insert. The pearl looks off to me, but I admittedly have a tough time telling with this one. Legit or no?
  15. A friend of mine who previously owned a gen 16613 really likes my tc sub v6 but he has not the money to pay 550usd and he's not that aware of flaws as we are on the boards So my question is where I can find the best 16610 from our TD's. Trusty has one which looks fairly nice but as much as I am aware this is not the noobmariner right? Is the noobmariner 16610 still the beste (except TC sub) we can get from our dealers? Moreover I have a spare caddell vintage insert lying around at home and want to know whether this would fit or not? Thanks for any inputs, Cheers
  16. Was bored so I took some shots in the snow from a couple of watches out of my collection. I hope you enjoy them Oh and a wristshot
  17. So I've been buying and selling a lot of gen watches lately but all from micro manufacturers (i.e. Helson, Armida, etc...). I've had my eye on a few smaller brands but the one that really stands out is from a company called Raven. Many of you know the name but the same guys that own this brand also own Benarus. I've heard a lot of great things about them so I found one on another gen forum and took the plunge. Price point new is ~$750. I picked this one up for under $640 shipped to my door and it was 30 days old. The previous owner had a 6.5" wrist and it was too big. It does wear big...alot like my gen Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish but a little more top heavy. The watch has both Rolex and Tudor vibes. Yep, it even has lugholes. Just a fun piece. Honestly I didn't know what to expect but DAMN the watch is amazing. I went with the Raven Deep Tech with date and the blue lume. If you love the Rolex Deep Sea, and want a lower price gen alternative...this is a great option folks. Remember this is a gen and not a rep. You can really feel the quality and actually dive with it! Not that I'll be going to 8200ft anytime soon Rolex Deep Sea Raven Deep Tech 42 http://www.ravenwatches.com/deeptech.php I'll post some pics later but for now here are a few borrowed from others:
  18. Hi Guys! Super excited. Bought this replica Rolex Deep Sea. It's a beautiful thing. Got it yesterday. Apologies for the picture quality - in need I can upload better quality pictures. The movement works fine. However with the caseback on the watch lasts for about an hour then stops. I left the case back off last night and when I woke up the watch was still ticking. Put the caseback on, hand wound it about 15 to 20 times and sure enough stopped and hour later. Took the caseback off again and it's been running no problem the whole day. I can only assume that the caseback is somehow interfering with the movement. Any ideas? As an aside can the buffs here tell me what movement this is? Thanks for your help Attached Images
  19. High Everyone, I'm glad I found this forum, I've already learned a lot by reading your posts. I'm looking at buying a Rolex Milgauss from Andrew at Trusty. I found him through reading posts on here btw. Anyhow, I'm looking for advice on which movement to select. There are three options. An 2813 Asian movement for $168, an 2836 Asian movement upgraded to look like Rolex movement for 258, and a 2836 Swiss ETA movement where, according to Andrew, the rotor and bridge are replaced with asian parts to look like Rolex parts and it costs $348. I really don't care about what the watch looks like inside, I'm concerned with reliability and being able to have it serviced. Does anyone here bought any of these milgauss models and have any thoughts? Any recommendations on the movemenet? Thanks in advance for your help everyone! -Chad
  20. I always recommend members to go get a gen 16610 insert for a reason, it is simply just beautiful! Beautiful how? Our eyes and our brains conceive its beauty but we can not always translate that beauty into plain English. My interpretation of that beauty is a flat and matte insert plus a well polished pearl holder plus a shiny corundum pearl. In my quest for the perfect Submariner 16610, the insert along with its pearl has always been a big challenge. This very specific part is actually an assembly of the aluminum insert, the corundum pearl, and the pearl holder. There is luminescent applied carefully and evenly within the pearl holder so the pearl could "glow in the dark". When I started the insert project in 2012, I thought the pearl holder is made of stainless steel. So I took the liberty being a partner of a local metal part manufacturer and made a batch of the pearl holder. Those stainless steel pearl holders were on every Caddell vintage insert I shipped out along with TC Sub V6 as freebies. This April, a member who bought a TC Sub V6 wrote me saying he has a theory: the gen pearl holder may be made from the same material as the KH 16610 dial indices. So I asked my friend to make me some samples to see if this theory is true. I had to use my microscope since this is late in the night and I couldn't capture anything clearly with my Canon. This is the stainless steel pearl holder on Caddell vintage insert. This is the new pearl holder I just received. How do you like it, gentlemen? TC 10/10/14

  24. Hey guys, has anyone bought the "new" blue dialed YM in Angus' Site? The blue dial really got me and I was wondering if you have some pictures.. Looks pretty good imho. Price tag is alright but I'd like to see some pictures in the sunlight for example I'd appreciate it.
