  1. Hey all, I've been doing some reading but would love to hear your thoughts. I've got a Milgauss and a Submariner 116610LV and noticing the bands are showing some wear. Nothing major, just scratches from daily use. I'd like to spend some time cleaning them up and wasn't sure what is best for this. I've read that 3M ScotchBrite pads are good, along with different grit sandpapers. That being said, what do you recommend? How do you get your bracelet back into pristine condition?
  2. ROLEX 5513 Spider Franken build After exactly 6 months since I started on this project I can now announce that my Franken ROLEX 5513 Spider is now fully assembled and finished . I´m still considering a GEN 702 crown (Anyone got one?) but then again the Athaya is also great. So once more here´s the parts list and then I let you guys enjoy the assembly pics by the master himself Joran (@DR3M3L at RWI and a very skilled watchmaker). He did an incredible job of putting it all together after @Rolojack did an amazing job on the case (see part 2 of the build for that). A big thank you to all of you who have responded to me a long the way. A very special thank you goes out to @Ingelero who has been a big inspiration and help in my journey. He is one of kind guy and his love and passion for Vintage Rolex has inspired me to the vintage route. For part 1 of the 5513 build click here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/178404-5513-build-parts-now-complete/ For part 2 of the 5513 build click here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/178871-5513-case-origin/ Updated Parts list: Cartel 5513 case (Modded to a 1984 5513 by Rolojack) Helenarou Caseback (flatter than the cartel) NOS Swiss ETA 2846 GEN ROLEX 5513 Spider Dial GEN TUDOR Mercedes Hands (switched from the TCV1 and clarks because of softer white) GEN ROLEX 5513 Insert GEN ROLEX T-19 (switched from aftermarket to GEN because of clarity) Aftermarket Bezel Assembly Athaya 702 tube & crown Yuki Bracelet and clasp WSO 580 ends Gen spec spring bars Pics and text Courtesy of Joran (D3M3L at RWI) GEN 5513 Spider Dial Removing the old (bold) plexi: Fitting new gen plexi: Insert fitted and bezel added to the case: Dial: Removing datewheel and it's gears: Dial and hands attached, into the case: Silicon grease on the sealings, caseback back on and the bracelet attached! 3. Hey guys, I'm a new member and I basically signed up on this forum just to ask you guys questions about fake rolex websites. I want a fake rolex, however I keep finding really fishy looking websites that seem too good to be true. I found this one based in Australia (Which would be extremely convenient for me because I live in New Zealand) and they seem legitimate, I've made an account and everything I'm very close to buying one but I feel like it could very well be a scam. The name of the website is "www)mywatchesonline)com)au". I am getting so frustrated at this point because I really want a watch but I just don't want to lose my money. If this website does turn out to be a scam, I would be so appreciative if you guys could tell me a real website for replicas. -Jimbo
  4. Here's the main collection, dials, up close and personal - taken with Olloclip and iPhone 6+ No editing or filters - I'm working to get better at this. I'll be running them through Photoshop post-processing, and I'll repost then in a comment.
  5. Hi! Just wanted to show my first build. I would really appreciate some feedback from you guys. Unfortunately the watch is not waterproof, I think it's because the xtal retainer has worn out. Sorry for the bad pics with the fingerprints The specs: Case - Cartel. Reshaped, aged and polished. Lug holes drilled. Caseback - Cartel. Aged, the paint in the engravings removed. Bezel assemby - Cartel. Ssteel made some work to tighten it. Bezel insert - Yuki. Had it in bleach for 15 min for a slight faded effect. Bezel insert pearl - Yuki, relumed by Big Daz Crown - Gen vintage 703. Dial - Whoopy 1665 DRSD mk2, lumed by Big Daz. Hands - Clarks, lumed by Big Daz. Datewheel - Polexpete silver dw. Installed by Ssteel. Crystal - Sternkreuz t39. 2834-2 movement, regulated by Ssteel. Endlinks - WSO 580. Bracelet - Unknown maker. Hope TC starts doing 93150 soon Clasp - not sure but I think its a TC 93250 v5
  6. This is a Snowflake budget build that I completed about two weeks ago. It was meant to be a project that could be completed for under $250. Sooo, that meant I was unable to do some of the more detailed things like the engraved caseback, gen spec 580 end links, send out to get case reshaped etc. But I think it looks great for the investment and it accomplishes exactly what I was looking for. The parts are: Case: cartel 5512 Hands: raffles Dial: raffles I haven't aged this one apart from a little bit of hour marker aging which can't really be seen in the pics. I plan on doing the insert sometime soon. But for now, I;m enjoying the new old stock look. Next build will be a Tudor 7922 big crown! I'm excited about that one as well!
  7. This watch is already a while in my collection and I absolutely love it. 8. So just received a package and halfway trough taking The protective plastic stuff off i thought why not do a whats In The box topic ! So here you go First teaser Can you guess what it is
  9. So I've been here for quite a while now and I thought it was about time I did my show & tell for the class those of you that know me or have dealt with me know I have a particular weakness for dive watches and lately that has gone off a touch and I've bought a couple dress watches just for a change, I joined here and had no interest in Rolex or Tudor neither brand did much for me...........boy how times change! Tried to give a little info on each piece I have so bear with me if I go on a bit First up is my Super Ocean Steelfish from Sead late last year, A2836 movement on mesh, fantastic Ar on this one and wears nice Next is a new one this week, Frederique Constant Peking to Paris Chrono Loved the look of this piece since I tried it on at the AD last year but here in Oz the rrp meant it was way over priced imo, so after searching around on and off for the last 9 mths I eventually found one brand new with box etc and snapped it up, thanks to a certain member who knows who he is getting it here was swift and pain free too it's one of 1888 made and is what I consider to be a great value Gen piece! Gotta love that caseback The Jlc Navy Diver is one of my favorite pieces, I bought this from a m2m sale here, it has the A2824 movement and I have it on donerix Black Shark at the mo which is really comfy.....if your thinking of getting one of these don't hesitate they are fantastic Seamaster Pro, the watch that brought me to RwG looking around to make sure I didn't buy a rep online made me look up the tells on here and after a couple weeks I found this Omega Smp for sale, it was one of 2 Smp's I picked up in the same week or so, kept the quartz as I preferred the look of the dial and sold the 2220 on (silly boy) can't buy one for reasonable money now! Love the red seamaster writing and the dial is just fantastic looking, would love to AR the crystal at some stage Planet Ocean Ceramic, had a couple of these now in both sizes, amazing quality and my only niggle is with the 42mm date window, it just looks unfinished..... easier to rep though and I will def get the orange 42 when it settles down a bit, they are such a great piece! The Orient Mako XL wasn't on my wishlist until a short time ago, I was half pissed and looking at some nice wrist shots from other members and this one caught my eye......you know how the rest goes.......cracking piece mind and yes it gets plenty of wrist time too, great value for money piece and waterproof too Pam029, I got this one from Andrew early last year, it has the Asian movement and has kept decent time since, awesome looking dial and great presence on the wrist always gets other people's attention I have it on a Gen black leather strap most of the time but recently got this Asso strap off the bay cheap as chips, oiled it and that's it Mbw Patek Nautilus I picked up recently on here from a great member, it's got the swiss movement and importantly for me the closed caseback love the dial because it changes so much when you wear it from blue to grey to black fantastic Rolex Mbw GwsD, this one came from a really nice guy on here and has had a few mods in it's time, it's the old style case set with reworked cg's, Gen Crown/tube,insert/pearl,crystal great looking piece and probably gets less wrist time than it deserves My first modded watch and one that J built for me out of nothing really, picked up a cheap movement on the bay and a case from one of the guys here sent that to him and he sent this back been a beater for me ever since Tc Sub is really one of my first expensive reps that I was lucky enough to buy, at the same time one of our members came up with a gen insert for me and voila a rep that is imo 98% of the gen all day long! Hasn't missed a beat since I bought it and gets out of the box regularly, love it if you only buy one sub rep make sure it's this one ! My blue Ceramic, what a great looking piece this one is, I got this one from member sale here it has the Sa3135 clone movement in it and had a dial swap from the std Angus to BK dial done by Dom, cracking piece and the clasp is first rate too.. Gmt's gotta love em I reckon this is my fourth one so far, first one went south immediately from Trevor the hands were touching the crystal and scratched the crap out of it, picked up another and then sold it as I picked up this modded one from over on Rwi, if you ever think your parcel is lost in transit think again (at least for a while) this one took 3 months to get to me! So long in fact that I forgot I had it and only took a pic in the group shot had a full relume by strodda including the bezel and it's great ! did I mention I started off with no interest in Rolex or Tudor ........... So this Tudor sub was bought from a member here, it came modded already started with a 5512 donor then had a 2770 movement put in along with Gen service dial and yuki hand set, I added a Gen crystal and Gen crown to finish it off, love it and it just looks right now with the crystal swap Tudor Snowflake, my first build from scratch and one that I couldn't have attempted without the help of some of the members here, I gained a heap of experience doing this one and boy it was fun getting the piece to where it is atm started off with a PC 5513 donor, put in a 2846 movement along with a dial from the bay, correct hands came from J, Clark T19 crystal, Gen 703 crown (so needs a 702) tube from J, was all put together and vintagised (is that a word) by J who drilled the lugholes for gen bars and engraved the caseback, put it on 580 endlinks which fit perfect and a tc v2 clasp and she's good to go, love the piece but not sure as yet if I like the vintage lume.....we'll see eh! Tudor Heritage Qtz was picked up recently on a m2m sale next door from fana05 who I must say looked after this one brilliantly, it's one of my cheaper buys but bloody hell it's an awesome piece, if you can lay your hands on one of these grab it, you will love it I missed this 9411 the first time it was for sale and was gutted, luckily the member who bought it gave me another crack at buying it and I'm so glad he did from what I gather it's a phong case set, Yuki dial and hand set, Gen crown/tube, crystal, Gen insert with Yuki pearl Gen movement and Gen spring bars, the bracelet it came with looks like a mix of Gen and rep but is way too small for my wrists! I bought a Gen clasp for it I'm just looking now for some 501 endlinks (gen prfd if you have any pm me) beaut piece and dare I say a keeper Mbw Tudor no date build was underway when I got the one above so I carried on with it mainly because I liked the look of the black dial without the date, it's a newer 5512 case set with a swiss 2836 movement, Yuki dial and hands set and a Gen crystal which makes the dial look awesome, the bezel on this one is really fat and gives it a different look from what I have already, not sure why that is but perhaps someone can enlighten me I'm trying to find a Gen blue insert for it atm to get the look I'm after (first pic) wish me luck ! Steinhart Ocean Vintage Gmt, with the 2893-2 movement a beaut piece that I wear quite regular, it's really comfy and even though I'm used to smaller watches it feels right on the wrist, great brand and excellent value for money the lume is amazing too Tag 500M I bought from Angus has been modded by Vac with cyclops removal, double AR and a full relume, waterproofed to 7atm drove me half way to mad waiting for it to be modded but bloody hell was well worth the wait time, the lume job is spot on and screams Gen, that along with the double AR makes this a keeper and regular on the wrist, love it Borrowed lume shots by jkay (takes much better pics than me ) Tissot PRS516, this watch is so understated it's not funny has a great quality feel to it and exudes class with the fuss free dial, I can wear this with anything and go diving too Few group shots.............are you bored yet I must say a big thank you to all the members on Rwg both past and present who have helped me along the way since I became a regular here, their contributions to the forum have been a godsend for me a special thanks to Jmb for putting up with me and building some great pieces, to woof to for holding my hand through my builds and generally being a great guy and to everyone else who I know especially Mike who keeps me from myself buying too many watches it really is a great forum and it's a pleasure to be here. I hope you enjoyed a look into my watch collection and hope it helps you make some choices for yourself further down the line
  10. By the end of 2014 I had sold all of my reps as I wanted to venture into Vintage Rolex. And that all started with a 5513 dial I purchased late January. Not sure, but I guess with all great builds, it either starts with dial or case. And this dial I immediately fell in love with . The 5513 spider from around 1984 which I bought right on the spot, no doubt. And then the search continued for all the right parts. Right after the dial I bought the 5513 service insert, which I overpaid for just a bit. But then again it was 100 % new. I sourced a really high quality SS bezel assembly from member over at RG. Then after looking day & night on fleebay I found this NOS Gen Swiss ETA lowbeat 2846. Getting the GEN Tudor hands was the hardest part. They never come up for sale 2nd hand so I was lucky to get them BNIB. The Athaya 702 tube and crown was easiest part, just send email to Athaya, sending pp funds and after 2 weeks in the mail for like $35, and they look really great. The case I decided to source a 5513 watch with Sead. Strip the parts and have the case modded to GEN spec. I found a member here who was willing to help me out. I sent over the parts but he could not find the time to do it. So after 4 months waiting I was back at square one. And then I was referred to great modder here by a good friend of mine. Case will be sent to him this week and then I hope by end of June I´ll be able to have all parts assembled. Here are the pics and will be back hopefully by end of June for pics of the modded case. So here´s the Parts List: 5513 cartel case Helenarou 5513 Caseback (flatter than cartel) GEN 5513 Spider Dial GEN Tudor Mercedes Hands for ETA (in 2nd picture) GEN 5513 Service Insert GEN Swiss ETA 2846 lowbeat Athaya 702 crown & tube T-19 service dome (aftermarket) SS bezel assembly (aftermarket) Cartel 93150 Bracelet (will probably get a Yuki to replace this one) WSO Gen spec 580 Ends Gen spec Springbars Well, ain´t that a great Spider Aftermarket SS bezel, will need polishing but it´s really great quality Not sure what to do, the lume on these is (just like the insert) really great green lume. Dial is tritium and has no lume left. So would it be possible to relume dial dots with vintage green lume? I personally have no problem with dial no lume and hands & pearl with lume. This would probably also happen on service where hands and insert would be replaced. HR Caseback has much flatter profile than the cartel one. Comes at a price but I´d like the watch to sit flat on the wrist.
  11. Hello all! This is my first "Big Crown" and second build for Rolex vintage, so I've taken some time to source the parts and it is now done! Many thanks Big Dazza for a great dial and Athaya for a grate crown. What I've got here is Big Dazza dial Yuki 20mm bracelet. Probably will try to source yuki 7206 bracelet. Yuki gold hands. Lollipop second hand from ebay. Silix 6538 case set and plastic dome. Brassy egde, lower the plexi, redrill the lugs hole, drill and tapped for to the match new tube and lugs bevel by me. Helenarou red triangle insert. Faded by me ETA 2846 movement Athaya 8mm crown and tube 2mm fat spring bars. Thanks for looking.
  12. Good evening, after spending a lot of time on the fora and even more looking at the TDs' pics, I need to hear the experts here: who can provide the best "out of the box" 5512 and 6263 ? I already know that every single piece is not good enough just as is, and I know some artists that would build some lovely vintage Rolexes if they only could find some free time in their busy schedules, but if I should buy'n'wear a McQueen 5512 or a Clapton 6263 where could I find some ? Thank you, this place is amazing.
  13. Hello all - this late 60's early 70's Datejust 1603 has been in the family 3 generations now. It had the standard silver face, classic yes, but boring and hard to read at a glance with the silver/silver/silver (stainless steel) design. So I stuck a Yuki Green face on it. I also had my watchmaker overhaul the 1570 movement as it was starting to suck, and open opening the watch and reading the caseback we realized it had been 11 years since he'd last had it on the bench... oops. The Yuki Green pie-pan isn't a perfect fit by any regard, but it's like a $120 dial... does the business and looks funky. It's a bit thicker than the genuine Rolex dial, and the date-window isn't perfect, but it's close enough.
  14. About this time last year, TC Sub club faced a huge challenge. I was running out of usable TC 16610 and TC 16610LV dials. The dial supplier, due to China's crack down on counterfeits, stopped the rep dial production. The only thing I could do back then was to build each TC 16610 Sub and TC 16610LV Sub from the pile of dials which were taken out from QC issues. I had to first choose a dial with no scratch on the surface and then piece by piece re do the indices to the dial. During that time I wrote a short intro for TC Sub LV Type 3 but skipped the review on the TC Sub V5. I spent most of my time on piecing together the dials. Hence, many new members who did not follow my blog from the beginning were probably confused. If you do not know the story, please read Bumps in the road - 16610 dial maker and the following TC Sub LV Type 3. OK, let begin. A Submariner 16610 watch consists of 7 major parts or part assemblies. They are "watch case set", "bezel insert", "dial", "hands set", "crystal", "bracelet", and a power engine, the "movement"; To make a proper Submariner 16610 rep watch, we have to add on 2 more important parts. They are "date wheel overlay a.k.a DWO" and "movement holder". Watch Case Set TC Sub V6 is based on the tried and true TC Sub Watch Case Set. This is actually the second case set I picked up. It's a keeper because it has all the aesthetically gen features and constructions. That is to say, crown height at gen position, gen construction bezel assembly that houses gen insert without modding or sanding. The mid case could also house any other gen bezel assembly, gen case back, or even gen dial and movement. I wrote a blog entry to review this watch case set shortly after I picked up this hobby. If you're interested, please take a look at TC Sub Housing Gen 3135 & Gen Parts. Bezel Insert Following the Caddell Vintage Insert. It took me over an year to develop this bezel insert. If you're interested, I documented the first received batch of sapphire crystal pearl in TC Gen Spec Bezel Insert & Pearl - Project Update. I then found Rolex's secret in luming the sapphire crystal pearl in TC's Pursuit of the Perfect Sub - Progress Update. Caddell Vintage Insert is not a 1:1 to gen bezel insert. It has a curved or rounded look surface while gen is flat. However, when installed to the TC Sub V6, it provides some what of a vintage effect like those of Vintage Omega Seamaster or Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Therefore, I throw in a Caddell Vintage Insert free of charge for each TC Sub V6 members ordered. Dial If it is not the Kensington High 16610 dial, I would not give this timepiece its designation: TC Submariner Version 6. The dial and indices looked very simple; however, I learned that the KH 16610 dial is in fact extremely complicated and troublesome to manufacture. It really tested the producer's craftsmanship and capabilities. I never knew such complicated production process were originated in the old kingdom then brought to Switzerland by Rolex. Nowadays, this progress of dial making is used only by Rolex. In my opinion, most other Swiss watch power houses cheapped out on the indices if an indices dial is used at all. Ever since the possession of these KH 16610 dial, I became addicted to these dials. I don't think I could ever go back to the old TC 16610 dials anymore. The problem is, supply of KH 16610 dial is limited and slow. The lume job was done magnificently! Hands Set The next thing I would like to talk about is, TC 16610 Hands Set V2. I have been putting the new TC 16610 Hands Set V2 on members' TC Sub V6 for a while. A forum member who's also active on gen watch forums introduced me the V2 hands set maker early this year. He bought a TC Sub V5 with KH 16610 dial and told me everything on the TC Sub is great but something is a bit off. That was the hands. Gen Rolex Submariner's hands set are a tad thicker in comparison to the old TC 16610 hands and provides more of visual 3D effect. V2 hands set is improved upon by this gen feature. The effect of the hands set along with the craftsmanship on the KH 16610's indices reaches true harmony when light shines on the dial creating the ambiance of perfection. That's something only the best craftsman in Europe can produce. That's also something we can only see in genuine Rolex watches. Gentleman, may I present TC 16610 Hands Set V2. Bracelet In my pursuit of the perfect Submariner, a good, tight, and gapless solid end link is as important as a good, clean, shiny dial. The Chinese TC 93250 V3 bracelet maker had done a great job eliminating the ugly gap whenever matching a bracelet to a TC or other rep sub mid case. The Thai TC 93250 V4 bracelet maker pushed that bar higher in making the very best coronet stamp on the clasp. However, members have reported the V4 bracelet art not as good in detail finishings. Besides, the first link of the V4 bracelet does not fold all the way in as gen does. So here it is, the TC 93250 V5 bracelet. I documented the details in TC 93250 V5 Review. Since the time I received KH 16610 dials, I felt the drive to push the bar for quality a step forward. I started to use a caliper to measure mid case lugs distance before matching bracelets. Then I found out TC Sub mid cases lugs distances have variances, and the variances may be dramatically big. So I placed an order of 2 different SEL specs from the bracelet maker this time to solve the problem once for all. The specs are 20.10 (+/- 0.02) mm and 20.15 (+/- 0.02) mm. Here's the detailed explanation: $59 TC 93250 V5. Movement The powertrain inside TC Sub V6 is TC 2824. Right after I picked up this hobby, I knew I had to find an alternative movement source other than ETA. I've tried Sellita and the Chinese but those didn't pan out. I documented the journey in TC 2824 - An ETA 2824 Super Clone Part I. Luckily I met TC 2824 maker at EPHJ, an fair that my line of trade would pay visit every year. I have only two requirements to the movement I should use. One being to perform on par with ETA standard grade ebauche. Two, it has to have H4 cannon pinion. Why it has to have H4 cannon pinion? Because an H2 would make the hands stack sitting too close to the dial when fully assembled. That is UGLY! TC 2824 maker is the only movement maker I reached out who's capable and willing to make me H4 cannon pinion 2824 movement. I dissected a TC 2824 and an ETA 2824, and made a side by side review in TC 2824 - An ETA 2824 Super Clone Part II. Date Wheel Overlay The Date Wheel Overlay is a thin stainless steel overlay with gen or gen like font dates printed on it. It has to be manually attached or glued to the 2824 movement's original date wheel in order to display dates in the right position of a gen Rolex 3135 movement in a rep watch. I hated doing so in the beginning because it is damn difficult to get it right. But there is no other way around if a 2824 movement is to be used in building the rep. I learned to appreciate doing it a little while later because it requires me to fully focus with no fuzz in mind in order to execute the task correctly. I realized in doing so, it really provided me a peace of mind. This is exactly the reason I picked up this hobby after an ugly divorce. I needed peace in mind. DWO in TC Sub V6 is the 4th version I cooked up along the journey. The first and second version were supplied by the TC Sub Watch Case Set maker, in plain English, the original rep 16610 maker. TC DWO V1 and TC DWO V2 does not transcript gen Rolex date font 100%. Thus I took a detour to Japan during a business trip to Asia and made TC DWO V3. Although TC DWO V3 is a direct transcript of gen 3135 date wheel, font and position. It often sits left justified in the dial's date window when fully assembled. To correct this issue, I made another detour to Japan and made TC DWO V4. TC DWO V4 has the correct white base color. The font is genuine Rolex. The date print is raised in high gloss. And the best thing is, it sit spot on the center in the dial's date window. That's about as detailed and thorough review covering all the latest parts or part assemblies of a TC Sub V6 can get for now. Some more V6 shots. Thanks for reading. TC 8/24/14
  15. Hey all, After sending out the 1016 explorer dials to members kind enough to help me with the preorder, I thought I'd raffle one away! The dial has a gen-spec diameter at 28mm, has feet for ETA movements, and all of the fonts/misc details have been hand-traced from genuine examples. The rules are simple, just reply to this thread, and you'll be entered into the raffle by your post order (just your first post will be counted, though feel free to post more if you like!). On Wednesday the 6th, I'll use a random number generator to pick which member the dial will go to Cheers, Whoop
  16. Dear All, I've got a really pretty Rolex Submariner, 2014. Blue lume. The movement is a 3135 one. I'd love to share my pictures with you guys, and hear your opinions. (Just be honest, I can take critics!) If you have any tips, tricks or whatever; I'd love to hear them. Enjoy! Leave your feedback! Thanks!
  17. Beautiful shot of the Tudor Black Bay and the Rolex Submariner No-date. Shot in Lausanne, Switzerland.
  18. Hey all, Ever since the original run sold, I’ve received a bunch of inquires on whether a second batch of 1016 explorer dials would be created. While I didn’t plan on making any more dials, I will be making one last batch of 1016 explorer dials exclusively (sorry, no other models will be made) if the demand is high enough. I would be making 30 total dials, but would need 20 dials accounted for to start printing. The original design has been tweaked so the text/details will be thinner than the original run (which was a bit too thick). The 1016 design that will be printed was hand traced from a genuine dial, and then further edited and refined in a vector program to get optimal printing results once the cliche is made. As before, dials will come unlumed, so you can apply glowing or non-glowing lume. If anyone is interested in a 1016 dial, kindly start a list below and add your username. Once the list/orders are filled, I estimate that the dials will be finished/in transit in 60-90 days. Dials will each be $179. First 5 members to sign up will receive a $10 discount. Previous dial version can be seen below. As mentioned earlier, it will be the same 1016 variant, but with thinner printing http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/171126-my-explorer-1016-build-is-finally-complete/ To clarify, this is not a sales post, just want to gauge interest! Special thanks to bangalter for getting this rolling Update: And the most prestigious gold star for tomhorn
  19. I understand that it's Maron, who's reputation has become more public thanks to Mr. Mayer, but YEZUS this thing is hard to look at My 'favorite' parts include the dial, crown guards, and case back engraving. What do you guys think? http://robertmaron.com/product.php?productid=16262&cat=0&page=4&sold
  20. Hello All, I wanted to compose a list of Submariner "tells"; I know there are a bunch of various model. Let's make a list for the most popular Submariner; 116610LN Submariner Ceramic date. We're not going to make a list of-dummy tells for dirt cheap reps, let's try to compose a list for high quality rep "tells". Let's not talk about the interior of the watch, but the exterior. (What is to be seen for the naked eye.) I know it isn't easy to just make a list, because you'll have to see things; but let's try. Rehaut misaligned. (Could sometimes occur on gens!) No micro-laser 'etched' crown @6" (Mostly found on good reps nowadays though!) Poor magnification on Date. (Less than x2.5) Uneven spacing on the date. Lume brightness does not match between hour indices, non-hour indices and hands. White bezel numbers. (Numbers on Gen. bezel are Platinum dust-filled) Incorrectly centered pearl. I'd like to hear things from everybody, so we can make a big list, for clarification. Many people will benefit from this, since there are usually members looking for perfect reps (aren't we all); this is a way to at least know what to look for! ~

  23. Hey everybody, I am looking for a Sub and have a few questions..When it comes to trusted dealers (ie. Honts), are they really using gen swiss ETA movements if that is what their product description shows? Furthermore..can anyone direct me to the best rep sub close to this full gold My budget is basically anything under 800$, but I can budge for 900$..thanks everyone! Other watches I am interested in: green sub Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Last, but not least, are there ANY sellers that would consider taking bitcoin as a payment form??
  24. Hey everyone, I wanted to start by saying how grateful I was to find this forum and the wealth of information it holds. Over the years I've collected a few reps along side a few gens and it was very much so a solo experience. My previous job has me traveling to Asia with somewhat frequency, so I would just purchase a handful of quality reps there and bring them back for myself and friends. Since changing roles, my travel has stopped and I needed a way to find quality products with real reviews., I spent some time googling and never felt comfortable purchasing online as I assumed the worst as far as quality. Well, that has changed after finding this site! I've ben searching for a Milgauss for some time and thanks to the reviews I was able to see for Trusty Time, I went ahead and purchased one! It should be arriving shortly and I'll definitely be doing a review once received. Alright, that being said. I need some help! Previously there was an older gentleman that ran a small watch shop that would do work on reps. A few years back, he closed and since I haven't had the need for any service. A few things I've read so far seem to imply I should be taking the watch I receive in for service almost immediately to ensure it's oiled and working properly. Is that accurate? If so, what type of service should I be looking for? That's only one part of the problem. Additionally, I am not sure the best way to go about finding someone in my town who will work on reps. Is there a good way to understand who will and won't without flat out asking? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
  25. I'm thinking about a high end Comex 1665 build with possibly a gen Rolex movement and Phong made case but, who has the best Pisani dial? thank you for all your help and input. Max
