this issue seems to be coming up more and more these days, possibly it's bacause more and more reps are expensive, up in the 400+ dollar range as opposed to the 100-200 dollar range a few years back, the other thing may be some of the dealers touting their QC, their "ultimate, Best, Copied from a genuine, 1:1, etc.obviously lead to higher expectations of quality by the buyer.Years ago, the dealers were pretty up front that things may not be "perfect". I remember years ago Eddie Lee's waterproof warranty "Waterproof to run through a rain shower". In reality, QC with most is a myth. there are some dealers who inspect every watch, tweak them, and reject the ones that have problems. i would guess that this is the exception rather than the rule.Watches in China are assembled by "on the job" trained people, probably working on a "Piece Rate" basis, which rewards speed over quality. These aren't trained Swiss watchmakers who will not let a watch leave their bench until it's perfect.
We expect a 300 dollar copy of a 7000 dollar watch to be exactly like the real deal, and unfortunately, it isn't going to happen.Sometimes you are fortunate to receive a watch that is as good as they can make it, sometimes the watch Gods are frowning and you get one that has a lot of problems, as you said it's a crap shoot.
Arthur
I totally agree with that but it is infuriating to pay the additional cost of some of these watches from big dealers who continue to justify that cost by claiming a premium service through great QC, communication etc yet it doesnt happen. The imperfections I can accept and in most cases expect but the inconsistencies undermine the justification of the additional premiums to price. If you go to the smaller dealer like Hont you get the same watch cheaper and he, yes he does the QC and wont send it out unless he is happy with it. There are others also that do this but the majority of us still use the bigger dealers mainly I think because the shopping process is easier. You know the site has a large selection of watches you can see what you hope you will get and you can order and buy there and then. With the others like Hont you need to Em ail him describe it or send a link then he sources it etc etc the whole thing is more protracted.
I think this is more to do with how we as customers shop nowadays and we need to put aside our normal shopping habits and treat this shopping process in a different way with more thought and care with a willingness to protract the process through E mails etc and be ready for replies not being as quick as we would like.
Certainly the more experienced guys here do that and are happy with that. Its noobies like me that learn the hard way but thats changing I hope and now the kid in the sweet store attitude has been diluted in me I can start to see this is a completely different shopping experience to what I am use to and if I want to get the best I can at the right price I need to adjust accordingly.

What a beast!... A very interesting watch that you can wear proud.
And if he gets any negative comments he can always hit them with it!!

Love mine
I would love to see your CG on that. Is there something different about that crystal to standard rep? Or is it just the angle?
When I first joined I hated the large dome and distortion of the crystal on these and the Fiddy but I am totally smitten now its a character trait rather than a flaw to me now.
I was fascinated to read that the original actually had an Angelus movement as with the fiddy and didnt have the REG TM logo on the CG. Its strange Richemont didnt stay true to the original with the 2005 release well to me its a shame.
It than followed on from the other posts regarding the PAM 203 that the movement in this should be in these other 47mm's. I would love to have a 203, I tried to look for a brown dial version but I have had no luck yet.
I love finding out about these great watches!!

So the guy who gets me popcorn at the movies has a buffing wheel? Who knew?
-
I have seen a couple of guys on RG have done this, one of them is LH but the other guy escapes me.
-
Personally I think the lume is very good, strong and long lasting. To be honest I dont think I would have it stronger because of the reflection on the dome crystal.
As to OEM I cant say I have only seen pics of gen not in reality.

I bought this exact watch for my GF for our 1 year anniversary. She's not a watch person but she loves it! It really is a cracking deal. It's very well nailed together, and a damned fine replication to boot. If you're looking at getting a watch for a lady in your life, i would look hard at this. For the price you can't beat it!
+1

The watch looks awesome....
I have a PAM 127 too and have sent the CG to The Zigmeister to have a new flat pin inserted and lever stiffened up.
How did you remove the Blue AR??....this would be my final thing to do.....
Thanks in advance...
I was looking for a tip for this and found a few answers - Some use a brillo pad or scotch brite (but only if its crystal) another suggested acetone, and another a buffer wheel and paste.
I found a guy who suggested Stainless steel polish fortunately I had some in the cupboard and the AR came straight off no problem, that was on DSN's AR. It also doesnt damage the case if you just want to do the outside of the crystal.

I have been through the same sort of problems, though not as many watches mate.
Hopefully things will turn for you next year and the glass will get half full again.
I suppose we can expect these sorts of problems but it doesnt stop the disappointment when it happens, the problem is its all hit and miss but at least your getting it sorted and will be able to enjoy your buys eventually.
Just enjoy your christmas tomorrows another day

getatwatch does them
Could also try Helenarou and Ofrei

It's entirely possible Pete, but if that were truly the case, then any security officer would either confiscate the laptop in question, or if they decide it's necessary to destroy it, then at least make sure that you destroy the contents. It's amazing to me that the hard drive survived unscathed!
In this world mate anything is!! Your right it was three bad shots!!!
I didnt mean though there was stuff on there just that was her tool to send it.

I think people would be surprised just how much of what we read or watch is manipulated for propaganda or political purposes.
Putting aside the issue of the treatment of laptop and the obvious flaws in the standard security procedures adopted by most border and military personnel in dealing with suspiciousitems.
The most striking part of her story is the manner in which she was dealt with or not as she admits whilst all this was going on. Again this is contrary to SoP's for any security personnel dealing with a suspicious item. Its not just the item itself but the person carrying it that is treated as suspicious she seems to make no mention of being treated in such a way.
So.... bogus probably in terms of her story but maybe she was treated this way for who she was, how she acted or what she did or does. Maybe the modern version of the infamous strip search given to problematic individuals at borders and airports.
Maybe she writes against the Israelis and uses her laptop to send those stories, who knows but security personnel doing it because they think its an IED, I think not.

I came across these pics of a 217, Great close ups especially of the movement and CG. It helped make a lot of sense about what you guys are talking about with the pin crystal etc etc.
I tried to save them myself but I cant so here is the link. If anyone can tell me how I would appreciate it as when I do the image is squashed

I guess Bill placed one of his new future soldiers on site at the airport for just such an attack!
No mate, thats Bill's I am going to live forever suit!!

Lovely job mate as I have the gen of this I can really appreciate how close you have got it. Wear it well mate.
@Drulee= What complaints have there been about LH, I just had PM from him with B details for purchase not so sure now with your comment.

Pete, get back to me if you still want the donor SA.
Sixx
Thanks mate, apologies. I heard from Avitt today he is happy to DLC bracelet and case with usual caveats (perfectly understandable) The main one is the bezel this will need to be removed.
As I recall the V1 has a removable bezel but the V2 doesnt although it can be dremelled off and replaced with gen but I think it needs a ring of some sort to recieve and work gen bezel.
Not sure case wise what others differences there maybe between v1 and V2
I have a gen bezel fortunately just need to find what and where this ring is.
Thanks again mate. I will let you know as soon as I am more aware of what the differences are.

Thanks mate,
Your right with the AR, I just meant generally with the outside. You need to get to Watchbitz in the trade section for all your screwdriver needs. The movement seems simple to remove and is shown in the tutorials on RG. I couldnt find it on here.
My mate did it and he isnt a DIY guy, remove CG, the back screwed off using a guys tip on here using a scrunched up ball of sticky tape pressed firmly onto CB, Then turn screw near crown pin about a turn and a half this releases the crown from the movement and case (dont go to far with turns as this engages keyless operation apparently) Then there are two screws on the edge of the movement about 11 oclock and 5 oclock these hold a bracket that holds movement to inside of case. Remove movement wearing some rubber gloves just prise it out gently place away carefully and then remove AR as suggested. Then repeat actions in reverse.
Anyway thats a quick answer but trust me it is easy just take your time and be careful not to lose screws etc. Have a good work surface with a cloth etc.
I am sure other guys on here can explain much better than me but thats how we done it.
Apologies if this is a thread crap
