Legend you are making me rethink my plan for a chicken coop out back this spring.   Now feeding and cleaning up after I can handle   but if they start messing with my watches that is where I draw the line.

  You know we had a fairly civilized debate around election time about Red & Blue states ,education levels blah blah. Now one fact that I remember posted by yours truly is most of our armed forces are from parts of the country where the 2nd amendment is favored, the city liberals can wring there hands and call for no more guns but it ain't happening. The Republicans will be frothing at the mouth & dancing in the streets as they get handed an election if this gets pushed to far by "O". All scenarios (pure fantasy) aside it is political suicide at this time the Dems know this, expect some lip service and they will try to get a few weak bills by the NRA lobby, that's it.

I'm going to move to George, nice rifle. In NJ you just get a no show job or cash to vote (for their guy of course)!

One gives the position merit and supports it with the writers opinion (me), the other is typical onion fair looking to degrade the position by quoting (I gather, who knows) a very base interpretation in the form of the lowest common denominator.

  Straw man arguments will avail you not, you dismiss my position with satire. Better go write for that rag the onion.

It has been postulated that we yanks have a love affair with guns (yes we do like them) but the real love affair is with our rights & freedoms. Yes the cost is sometimes unbearable in any rational mind ( i question my position constantly in my mind after such a tragedy), it is a high price we pay in the blood of the brave on the battle and the lose of innocents at home. At what cost freedom is the question. I can neither guarantee freedom with guns in hand nor stop such acts with them being outlawed. I do however guarantee that without them eventually we will be at the mercy of the governments ever expanding  role constantly eroding our freedom and also that the criminals & deranged will find a why to get them or use other means to do harm.

I will leave this discussion with some eloquent words from a man much wiser than me in regard to freedom & the price payed.

How do I correlate today with this statement, with power comes control with control comes lose of freedom. We still have power armed, we have little without. How many of our sons have been laid at the alter of freedom abroad, only to give it away at home at the behest of the mentally ill. For what else can you call a man who would commit such a heinous act. I grieve for those slain and there families but let us not dishonor them by laying down our arms in our grief but strengthen our resolve to live free such as there sacrifice is not in vain.

Bingo!  "No the second amendment was meant as a check on the federal government's power."

With freedom come risks, decide how much risk you are willing to take and or freedom willing to risk.

 Even on such a horrific day as this do not be fearful, be vigilant  "Live free or die" either you mean it or you don't.
