I've heard one account that separating the sandwich crystal is not terribly difficult... I think it was Lello who tried it.

I can confirm. Lello tried and succeeded.

Just heat (a flame) and the three pieces - the two crystal layers and the cyclops - came apart.

Then, quite a bit of glue and some attention not to get air bubbles between the two layers while reassembling.

I think I'm going to try the same on the next few days...

I usually push the crown before closing the lever.

But sometimes I feel that the crown does not push-in properly, and only on those occasions I try with the lever too.

Honestly, I do not think this is an issue.

Bob's inexpensive straps sold on eBay are inexpensive exactly because they are thin, not because of poor quality.

Quality is not amazing, but not bad either. Quite fair quality for the price.

I got a Bob inexpensive shark strap and got disappointed because I love thick straps, but as you like thin straps maybe they are worth a look.

Make a search on eBay for 'bob' + 'strap'. The cheapest ones are thin.

This movement is a copy of a 2836-2...I was initially told it was a advertized as a 2824-2, so went along that line when I did up the post initially, forgetting that it was a 2836-2 one...

I have since corrected the title and all the text to 2836-2.
