  1. But the rep hands still have a fatter base, even if you use the hand tubes... :(

My brother J, you are like that kid whose magic is spoiled for you forever, cos you peeked behind the scenes. You have to blame the knowledge you gained in RWG for that!  :D

I agree with you on one thing: The rep hands are a dead giveaway for me, mainly because they are smack right in the center of the dial!

The watches that OP posted are items of beauty though, and I am duly impressed

  2. Just to share, in my earlier days, Mike, I wore an ROO sec@9 and the the folks at the event I wore it too thought it was a gen.

The sec@9 was a dead giveaway, yet nobody seemed to notice, or was too polite to comment on it. I sincerely believe it was the former.

Nobody is going to scrutinize your watch, and the only people to ask you to remove it are magicians, conmen, and replica watch enthusiasts.

You can usually identify the last category from the unformed smirk and glint of suspect in their eyes. Just avoid them if you are wearing something that would be called out upon closer inspection. Or better still, go on the offense and ask about THEIR watch and see them squirm and tell you about their recent trip to MBK Bangkok.

  3. TTP,

    To answer your questions:

No I don't think anyone under the age of 20, or anyone not into watches, would be able to, or bother calling you out.

When you post the watch here in RWG, you're of course going to get comments about the details, that's what this forum is about mate.

It's a nice watch on it's own, inaccuracies no withstanding, wear it well. It's the man, not your watch. Carry yourself well when wearing it and it'll be like a gen on your wrist. Put a gen rolex on a 12 yr old and it would look as out of place as a chicken in an aquarium.

Welcome to the world of reps and you'll eventually end up where the guys are. :)

  4. I am a complete noob in purchasing rep watches and I didn't even know about this site until after two purchases, one for me and one for my wife.  I just went with a site that looked professional and quickly responded to my emails.  The first site that I bought from was watch-way.com.  They had well-written and informative articles on the various grades of rep watches, and movements, etc.  My first purchase with them was a $749 swiss movement Vacheron Constantin tourbillon, and although it came in polished stainless steel rather than gold-plated, and took about a month to ship, they were very responsive to my emails and kept me informed (except as to the stainless instead of gold, which I actually like better now anyway . . .).  So my experience with them was very good overall.  My second experience was with swissclock.net for a ladies Rolex with a masterpiece band (apparently fairly uncommon).  The watch came fast, looks perfect and my wife wears it everywhere.  Now maybe I'm just easy to please, and I don't get wrapped up in making sure that a $300 watch is a 1:1 exact copy of a $50,000 watch, but I can only say that my experience at either place was favorable.

I am considering buying an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Ruben Barrichello II from either of them.

There ARE good dealers outside those found here. To be honest, even with dealers here, issues sometimes surface. In this hobby, you are lucky if you get an order that is within your expectations. :)

  5. OK maybe we got it wrong.. maybe AP did release a twin seconds @ 12 and 6 model and we missed the 1 of a kind production

The logic behind this is that if the sec@12 fails, the sec@6 can take over seamlessly, and vice versa.

Come on guys, give the seller a break already :D :D

  6. Thanks dropbear2008!  I am editing this thread as I did not realize the sensitivity to posting QC pics from dealers asking for help in looking for potential flaws.  Case of a NooB not reading everything.

EDIT: I can't edit it the original ...too late...sorry...

I don't see why you should not post the QC pics asking for help, ESPECIALLY if you are new! Your eyes may not be trained to spot the flaws yet, let the forum help you out!

Beautiful watch btw, I can imagine the case to be bronze.. too much of watching expendables

  7. Okay so this is where I step in and sort it all out with the perfect solution...

In all future sales I believe the only sure way you buyers and sellers get scammmed ..sorry I mean dont get scammed is to send all watches and payments to me...I will take it upon myslf to spend all your money..I mean hold all your money until the watches arrive which I will then wear, strip for parts, give to friends...sorry I meant assess.... and will then pass them onto the buyers using a crappy postal system and bogus tracking numbers...sorry I meant ensure safe and trackable shipping

That way I am very happy and surrounded by hookers and alcohol...sorry I meant everyone will be happy and there is no way anyone will ever get scammed !!

    I Thank you !! :)

I'll send you the hookers and alcohol directly for what you posted, PeteM :D
