  1. From a person who has a genuine, this is a pretty good rep. I only saw a few flaws from the quick comparison with the pictures. The font on the 15, 30, 45, 60 is a little off and the wrong color on the rep; the date font is a little off, it looks like the rep has a recessed cannon pin (but it cold be the angle); and the biggest the the short lugs. The crown looks a little different, but no one is going to notice, it looks a little more rounded than the gen which is more square. Finally, the lume "dots" on the dial look like they have little circles around them on the rep and the gen has nothing like that, just the lume. Pretty nice rep if you ask me. :o

Thanks for this description man... I will borrow it for the Breitling Guide (which, of course needs updating now). :)

  2. IMO anyone who would buy from WM9 knowing about OUR dealers is a fool. He sold the watches we all know about at double the price. Now he finds an updated sub and certainly this will be available to all of us very soon. I am sure at a lower price,

Hmm, it's been MONTHS since the wm9 16610 came out, and there's still no sign of this rep yet (from any of our dealers).

Someone should email Angus and ask if he's aware of this model at all. He has very close contacts to the factories.

But yeah, I agree. I would be very surprised if this model was exclusively done for George.

  3. BT - new and improved model? :cc_confused: You know something and won't tell? Oh come on, please please please :)

No, no. I'm just playing the guessing game here.

There must be something happening regarding the 16610 soon. Actually I'm quite surprised that our dealers haven't got the WM9 Sub yet. Maybe it really is "custom made" for George who knows...

    I doubt it though.

  4. You guys are absolutely correct of course. Only a Rolex WIS could tell. Or another gen SD owner.

I think it's more about personal preferences. I couldn't live with the flaws on the SSD, so I didn't buy one. However, I can live with the wrong hand stack on my 16710 GMT without a problem, because the watch looks fundamentally correct. For others this kind of technical issue is a complete "no-no".

The most important thing is that we enjoy our watches. I'm still pissed off that the factory refused to get our help with the SSD though. Well at least we managed to get a half-decent crown installed on it. You should have seen the grossly oversized crown that they had on the initial "release candidate". :)

  5. All this talk about best Sub is here again. How refreshing. I have owned what... 12 Submariner reps, but right now I don't own even one.

"Why?", I hear you ask. Well that's because I'm waiting for the "purrfect one".

Seriously: Just to kill the boring Sunday, I just enhanced this old picture a little bit. It's actually quite difficult to construct an attractive b/w photo.

  6. I think the WM9 Sub is actually very nice. It has really awful bracelet & SELs, and some problems with the bezel... but it looks fundamentally correct, and it's a great base. The crystal/rehaut combo is the best I've ever seen.

I don't have a Sub/SD rep at all right now. I'm quite sure there's something happening regarding the 16610 soon. Just a "hunch".

But if someone REALLY wants a 16610 rep now, I'd go for the route that L-Dizzle suggested. It makes absolutely no sense to put $500 on a rep, which will be updated and improved... rather sooner than later.

PS: Stephane is right. SSD is ok. I'm not saying it's crap, but it's nothing special. I'm really pissed off that the factories screwed up the thing what *makes* the Sea Dweller: Amazingly thick front rehaut. Pissed off because I waited this watch for YEARS... I really wanted it to be great. For me it's nothing more than another wasted opportunity, once again.

I found it really strange that the membership was so willing to forgive and ignore all those stupid flaws on it... although it was advertised as 1:1 replica. It was hyped a lot, and I'm sure it sold a lot.

With a little effort and consultation from our senior members it could have been awesome. I don't know why they always screw up something important with the Rolex reps.

  7. Once again: The thing that really kills the SSD for me is how the rep looks from the front view. This look of the crystal, and the thick, apparent cylindrical rehaut shape is very characteristic feature on the genuine Sea Dweller. I simply can't understand why people argue about some small difference in the rehaut depth, but don't care about this absolutely crucial problem at all. Oh well, maybe it's just me then... :)

Noobmariner is virtually perfect in this regard. The thickness on the gen Sub isn't as noticeable, but it's still there.

  8. I agree with Perry. Don't pay $600 for a friggin' replica watch. That's already 25% of the preowned no-date gen. Pure insanity.

You will be very sorry you did, when the next and improved model comes available through our dealers.
