One of my all-time favorites. Fantastic choice.
Enjoy this brilliant rep. I've had mine for over a year, and it always feels just as amazing.
-
Definitely the bracelet.
The polished middle links suit for this watch perfectly. Yeah, the bracelet is a bit flimsy (both rep and gen). But that's how it's supposed to be.
It doesn't look bad on the rubber, either... it's very sporty, but I love the polished links myself. It adds "finesse" and class.
PS: Moved this to TAG section.

The strap version looks very cool d4me.
So... how do you like it so far? Yesterday you said this won't get any wrist time since you got the Cousteau. Still think so?

For sale on Ebay. Not a bad price: $59.500.

Congrats for the fantastic gen Stephane!
Changed to the Aquaracer yesterday.

Hi By-Tor,
If I understood you well (also based on your superb review), If you had to choose the best "out of the box" GMT Master II would it be the "Retro" model sold by Josh and Andrew?
Regards,
yaron
Yep. If you can't do mods, that would be the best option at the moment.

hmm... Now we have conflicting opinions, i thought the decision would be easy. I havent gotten a reply from silix yet so ill have to do some more thinking on it before I send money. If anybody else has opinions please let me know. I read by-tor's review it seemed like a pretty good review at the time, but i suppose there may be more accurate models out there now.
The "retro" version from Joshua is very nice. The only thing missing from that one is the front rehaut thickness. But compared to this Silix version it's much better (imho).
With some mods the Noob factory version is the best one out there, hands down. But like I said, it requires modifications... and it's extremely difficult rep model to find. I think TTK can source it though.
If you want the best one, there's no comparison, really. The dial is superb. Left: rep, right: gen.
Besides the dial this version has correct case dimensions, superb rehaut & thickness and very good SELs.
Here's my modded one (new sharp edged bezel, new insert, cg's modded):
Search for Stephane's review of his correct hand stack version with genuine dial. Can't get better than that, really.

I've noticed that people in their early 30'S suddenly start to talk about age a lot. Like it really matters... but that's a clear symptom of the 30's crisis.
Years really start going fast after you turn 25. It's pretty scary.

There may be a lot of reps coming out of china, but for the most part those are really bad fakes. I really thing that you over estimate the number of really good reps out there. I live in a large city (Toronto), and I have yet to see someone else with a decent rep. Never seen an asian 7750 on the streets. There are plenty of subs and datejusts, but there simply aren't that many examples of anything else. Certainly not enough to threaten Breitling's or anybody else's market share.
Exactly my thoughts Andreww.
Here in Scandinavia it's very rare to see anyone wearing a rep. But you can see many gen Rolexes, Omegas and Breitlings.
I've never met even a single person with a halfway decent replica. All reps I've seen (which is very rare) have been absolute junk.

Both are based on the old CN version of the GMT.
That means a bit wrong case dimensions, wrong rehaut shape & thickness, and cyclops / date positioned too right. Nice dial & crown though. It used to be the best version 3 years ago.
It's very old replica model, it's reviewed in my section. You can see it here.
It's not a bad rep, but not the best.
I wouldn't buy it anymore. But then again the price ain't bad.
-
Good observation. I have never noticed this.
Congrats for the great purchase M4rcus. I love mine as well... it looks fantastic on the wrist!
-
Thanks man. That's what I thought.
It's a beauty among the Omegas. I really love that watch.
-
Excellent collection.
Tell us a bit about that Electric Blue Seamaster. It's been on my list for a long, long time.
-
I don't like it, either.
Looks cheap and "Invicta-like".
-
That's the "Noobmariner" with ETA. Good Sub replica, but ridiculously overpriced.
338$ + shipping. Come on...
I would be skeptical with the "full service" claims, as these claims are very hard to prove. And you don't really have to service a new ETA watch. I've had dozens of ETA watches with zero problems, ever.

I'm 35.
When I was 25, I was pissed off when someone called me "kid". Now I'm old enough to take it as a compliment. That rarely happens anymore though.
-
Good luck Pred.
The Subs you have previously modified look fantastic.

I know TAG isn't on top of many people's list, but I have enjoyed my Aquaracer chrono like no other watch in a long, long time. Very sporty, and the polished center links are the icing on the cake.
Just note that the new day/date version is rather big watch (43mm).
-
PS: What else is Gen in the box BT?
The GMT dial.
I could have said the 16610. It looks like a gen from the distance, but I know what you just purchased.
-
Very nice M.
I know that black TT is a gen. Is the blue one a rep... and how do you think it compares?
-
I have no recent wrist shots... but I've been wearing the awesome Seamaster chrono on Sunday, and will probably wear it Monday as well.
-
there is no where in the United States of America .. none of the Fifty States where it is Monday...
But it is Monday here in Europe already. 2:51AM where I live, for example.
This forum isn't the United States of America. This is an international watch forum, that has members from all over the world.
Nothing wrong to post an early wrist check.

By-Tor the snow dog! I wonder how many people on here know thats from a Rush song. How is your UPO holding up after almost a year? I ordered one today from Josh.
I think they know it by now, it was mentioned in my interview.
I just recently traded my UPO, because I never got used to the humongous size. I think the smaller 42mm is much nicer version of the PO's. Too bad the 4th Gen rep isn't as good as the UPO. Most people think the XXL version is nicer, it's a taste thing. The watch always worked perfectly, absolutely no problems.
Enjoy, it's a great replica!
Will gens eventually lose their value?

Robert,
I think the percentage isn't even that. Try 0.1%.
Have you seen pics from those big rep sales markets in China? Shelves full of cheapest junk... hundreds of meters of shelves.
Remember teevtee's trip to China... to the heart of the reps in Guanghuzou (spell)... and how extremely difficult it was to find one real ETA-powered rep? Maybe things have changed lately, and reps have improved a bit though.
