  1. Couldn't get any daylight shots before it got too dark (long day at the office). But as promised... here are some quick studio shots (completely unedited and dirty).

With straight light exposure, no contrast correction or reflector cards.

Straight light exposure, auto levels and some cleaning. Colors 100% untouched.

Now see the contrasted studio shot. Black reflector card used.

Here's abat's photo of his SFSO lite:

    And once again, the gen:

I'm not arguing about the blue color being on or off anymore... but you have to realize it looks completely different under different lighting conditions. It would be nice to see the rep and gen side-by-side. The rep dial might be a tad darker?

  2. They only need to change the maxi dial/hands, crystal and datefont, and it would be hands down the "best out of the box" Rolex rep ever. I would be satisfied with the dial & hands change alone. It looks fantastic.

Can't say the same about this other version. Sorry. We offered help for Angus and the factory that was doing this... they never came here and collected the information (that would have been freely available). If they never release the good version, I'll say f**k it... I've had enough of medicore Rolex reps.

  3. I will definitely get the Dweller too... but I'd wait until the fat lady signs. I agree with Watcher, the rep looks much better in King's pics. However this doesn't change the fact that it's an inferior base watch.

The other version (with wrong maxi dial) is clearly superior base, because it has the very THICK rehaut (and double-"rehaut bevel"), which is imho very important and characteristic look for the Sea Dweller. This is clearly missing from the Joshua's version. Are me and bklm the only ones who see this?

I wouldn't jump on this just yet. Not until we see all the offerings.

  4. Personally, I couldn't give a rat's ass if the color shade of the blue is a bit different. Blue is usually the only option for me on sports watches. :)

Same thing with the Aquaracer. Even if the black and white versions are probably more accurate, they don't do anything for me. I think the best suggestion (for the guy who asked) is that you buy what you like the most. The chances that someone calls you out because of the lighter/darker shade of blue on your watch are about 1:100000. I bet I won't live long enough to meet someone other who owns this exact same Breitling model... at least in my neck of woods.

  5. I looked at Google and Ebay, and found very conflicting "evidence". There are pics where the blue looks almost spot on, like this:

    standard.jpg

But it looks lighter and more "cyan" in other pics. Maybe there's a difference between the production runs again... just like the seconds hand and bracelet?

Or perhaps the rep dial is indeed darker and more violet? I have never taken daylight shots of the SFSO... I'll snap some tomorrow or day after (if I have time).

  6. The blue color is spot on, as far as I can tell. The wristshot Italiano posted looks exactly like the rep blue... the pic is just very bright.

My pictures of the SFSO have been taken in a studio setup and under fluorescent lighting, so the color might look a bit different in a natural lighting. They're also contrasted a bit.

The rep dial can look very different... even 100% gray, depending of the the angle to take a picture from. I might shoot some outside wrist shots next week for reference, and post to this thread.

Edit: Actually the rep dial might be a bit more "violet". I have to see how the pics turn out in a daylight.

  7. It's the front rehaut thickness & shape which looks all wrong on Joshua's version... just like bk said. It's excellent on King's.

People usually don't discuss this very apparent flaw at all, although it's very easy and quick way to tell between rep and gen. This is the same reason why I think Noob factory GMT and Sub are superior to all others.

See this reference pic to understand what I mean. This area is exceptionally thick on a Dweller, and has very characteristic shape when you look it from the angled view.
