  1. Miss V - typically agree with you but have to differ on this one. I have always liked the Graham and have looked forward to the coming rep. It has been on my list since I learned of its pending arrival months ago. Something about them, classic, mechanical - I don't know. Just like them.

On the other hand, I have officially given up on Paneri. With all of the love, I kept looking at them. I would look at every one that came across the Member Trades. And finally, I said no... I just don't get them. Maybe that is why we don't all drive Volkswagons (the are the people car ya know).

Brep! Dude, you like what you like, and that's awesome.

There is a saying amongst WIS', as you know -- "it speaks to me". That's something indescribable, and really not about taste. It's about attraction. And attraction is always partly sexual.

If the Graham watches move with your insides, go for it!

  2. Stephane, Thanks for your input. Actually the PO is in the price range that I'm expecting. That your mother used the site is a good recommendation. I'm going to savor this decision for a while and then pull the trigger. I might also look at a new constellation (although I have an old one with a 561 movement) and consider that as something very different from my SMP. Thanks again.

The Railmaster looked very nice too, and within your price range.

    BTW, I am not Stephane -- that's a Belgian guy, I'm a British girl named Victoria. :)

  3. I'm not really a PAM guy (warming to the 111h though)...but nothing screams "Don't mess with me or I'll strike your name from the payroll list" like black duds and a fat PAM.

Well, Toady. I'll be the first to encourage Pugwash to wear his nice Silix PAMs, but perhaps not on the first day.

We want him to exude professionalism on the first day, not 'tude. His co-workers will get to know that soon enough.

  4. I'd go with the PO, check jomashop.com as I am not familiar with the others you listed.

That's a good site. I have another, but let me search for it first.

In the meantime, here are two similar threads on this very topic, Teddy Boy. It seems the general consensus was an Omega SMP. That would be mine too, if you didn't have it already.

EDIT: Found the site which my mother used for a few gen purchases this year.

    Jacobtime.com

    For example:

Tag Heuer Aquaracer Automatic Chronograph Mens Watch CAF2112.BA0809

    Retail Price: $2,495.00

    Save 25% $623.75

    Jacobtime.com Price: $1,871.25

    http://www.jacobtime.com/osc/product_info....roducts_id=2106

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Mens Watch 2909.50.91

    Retail Price: $3,200.00

    Save 33% $1,056.00

    Jacobtime.com Price: $2,144.00

    http://www.jacobtime.com/osc/product_info....roducts_id=3283

Both over your asking price, but at least it's a good reference. :)

  5. That Pan just does not cut it with diamonds and nails.

Don't worry I was wearing a lumberjack shirt underneath my woolie!

(Freddy, give up! I have a wide selection of watches. I'm teasing you of course, but at some point you have to know I love my big a8ss watches as much as my daintier ones. I wear both happily -- haven't you been seeing my newest, smaller Cartiers and Rolexes?) ;)

  6. The murder of my friends is more offensive, and this is how I deal with it.

I'll out myself and say I have a family member by marriage who died in the 9/11 attacks. But just as if someone were to say something nasty about Jesus Christ, or Christians in general, I'd find that horribly offensive too, and I'd fall on them like a tonne of bricks publicly. Far more than TeeJay's innocuous comments, which in effect, I agreed with.

I am a fellow sufferer, Hambone, so please excuse me for saying what I did.

I would hug you now if I could, because I am not without disgust in my heart. But perhaps it's wiser to keep these things to ourselves on a rep watch forum.

  7. TWP, DSN had several threads of complaints when you were on holiday. I mentioned that this might have a positive effect on your business.

And with this 113, wow, even I am tempted to order one. I was thinking of getting a DSN 114, and if you can get me a crown like that, I'll hug you.

  8. Saw it last night, when I was searching for who sang the Top Gun theme song (Kenny Loggins, it was, duh).

And BTW, yet another reason why an ex-Blockbuster shopclerk like Tarantino, who acts like a two-year old on a sugar rush, is one of the most overrated directors in the world.

Except for Reservoir Dogs, that is.

  9. It's nice, but I'll take the 'regular' limited edition ceramic doppel instead.

    My reasoning:

    1. I ain't no pilot

Hmm, I actually took three flying lessons before I quit. Too expensive...

    2. If I was going to buy a watch that would forever remind me of Maverick + Iceman, it would have to be a real Top Gun watch such as a Porsche Design anondized 7750.

    Speaking of Iceman. *g*

It is apparent to me that IWC is starting to 'cheese out' with some of these silly limited editions. Come on, Le Petit Prince? Now Top Gun? And those stupid commercials? What ever happened to understated elegance?

IWC should make a Nascar Edition

Oh oh. So only the rich Eurosnobs can freak out on IWCs?? No, sir! IWC for NASCAR all the way!

  10. 17mai_AirKing.jpg

I said it above, and repeatedly since seeing this photo, but this was the single-reason I bought the Air-King. Goes to show how much of an influence we have on each other.

    Thanks, Chrgod.

Now, could I just ask if a watchsmith would have trouble switching movements so that I can keep the nicer, older dial on the other newer watch? The first was DOA.

@Stilty: AWESOME. Thanks so much too. That's a good visual to go by.

  11. My wife would laugh her as* off at me if I ever wore an abortion like that.

Abortion of a watch is the exact phrase I used originally! Then, speaking of polarising, I decided to go with miscarriage as less controversial. ;)

For that matter I'd probably commit myself for even buying it. I've never seen a collection of watches that tests the essence of bad taste as much as they do. My 2cts.

    I'm afraid I agree.

Whilst the watches posted by our collector friends (PHOTOSHOPPED!!) have a modicum of better styling than the Captain Nemo watch I posted -- sorry V, can't see the attraction -- they are still...how can I say? Just OTT. Over the top.
