Slai -- impeccable. The shot, the watch, THE LUME. Love love love. CONGRATS!

@Stephane: Breaks my heart to see you parting with the VC Overseas. Don't you know how dashing and elegant you look? Even your ex looks good with it. Dad loves TeeJay's white VCO. It's so classy...

  2. And more importantly for us, do you think they'll make a rep out of it?

    Info:

Called the "Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT". Price: U$98,000 or 79,000 Euro. Limited run of 100 pieces per year. BTW, the tourbillon is seen "at work" in the front by the blue dot going round and round the seconds sub-dial.

Detailed Specs: hxxp://www.thewatchquote.com/Panerai-Luminor-1950-Tourbillon-GMT-No_6181.htm (change xx to tt)

    Thoughts:

Eh. Doesn't sing to me. You?

  3. I'm all for the charm of yesteryear, but somehow the reps strike me as better than the gens...in the sense of being less grotesque....

I agree that the first video is stilted, but look at the co-ordinated play of the second Andrews' Sisters link (damn the person for not allowing embedding!).

It's amazing to me how all the gestures of today are there: their palm slaps, the shoulder work, the "coolness" jive factor which must've been revolutionary for women then, especially since it was inspired by black American culture. Did you see Maxene give some "skin" to the soldier? Give me Five, cat! ;)

If you see an early Bing Crosby compared to the mid-40s Andrews' Sisters, they're TOTALLY modern, and therefore, recognisable and approachable, whereas he looks like he's got a pole up his rump.

You just have to get over the Du Barry pompadours.

Or should I say authentically fake?

I love parodies, so speak it to me, baby!

French & Saunders are the best in modern parody work, in the English language today, though neither are a patch on Morecambe & Wise.

    ...roll on Caravaggio.

Which leads me to wonder if people looking a vids of today's singers will find them as geekily weird as I find the Andrews Sisters in the above video.

    Speaking of which:

  4. I'm 5'6", 150 lbs. with 6.5" wrists and I have no trouble wearing my SteelFish, EVO, 111h, 113g, and UPO XL. I guess the balance between wrist girth and forearms also have something to do it as well...

Yeah, but DuDro, you're a guy.

I'm also 5'6", 130lbs, with 5.7" wrists. I don't know what it is about me, but I can carry off a large watch like a 44mm. I think it's that I'm medium-boned, but not with a lot of "padding", and have what used to be called "good bearing", so I can pull it off.

If I have time tomorrow I can post some wrist shots...

    Thanks! :)

  5. Err, V - I gotta step in and ask, are you sure it's not going to be a bit big for you?

As you know, I've got a 6.5" wrist and after much teeth gnashing I've decided it's just too big for me, this watch has a massive presence.

    Rima, you're right. :(

I'd much rather save for a TWP IWC Costeau Diver 2007. Guys, I want to buy a Breitling, especially at this fabulous offer, but I just can't see myself wearing this watch...

  6. $250,000 +

Kru, something tells me I wouldn't doubt you could afford that. Call me indiscrete if you want, but I know a man who knows what's what. :p

Hey! Just thought of another thing for US members...there's an IRS tip hotline, right?

Gosh, people -- don't go making enemies of neighbours. They can leave an anonymous tip to the IRS, saying, "Hey this person has a boatload of Rolexes and gold watches. You better check him out."

Not that I've ever heard of that happening, since I don't know a single person who hasn't lied in his or her tax returns sometime. Chances are they're not clean either. ;)

  7. It's not hard to get $10,000 worth of reps either V. I would estimate all my bling to be well into the million dollar range......

Jfreeman, you were THE guy I was thinking of when I was composing the post!

"I wonder what his total amount would be, if they were gens?"

Your neighbours must be in utter of awe of you. You're in sales, you said right? Well, guess what. I wouldn't doubt your watches were gens, just a few short months back when I didn't know of "this" rep world.

Yes, it depends on where you live, etc. -- but salesmen makes tonnes of money. I would just think you were loaded, or ate Hamburger Helper every night. :p

Not to mention all the ones I don't have anymore. Hell, the platinum black MOP masterpiece alone is almost $200,000 retail. Kinda silly to even think about wearing that one if you ask me.

Corgi and I own the Patek Philippe Sky Moon rep.

Now, as I recently said, most people haven't a clue how much that is really worth -- and those that do, automatically know our watches MUST be reps.

But that watch single-handedly puts my total above $2 million dollars, totaled. LMAO.

  8. $2200?? ive actually seen these on the gen forums selling used for under $1500.

I'm really surprised. I always thought Breitlings were worth the earth, or at least put Sub Rolexes to shame. Oh, I'm sure there are very pricey Breitlings out there, of course. But the SFSO I though AT LEAST $4K, USED.

Most men's luxury marques are quite affordable, then. Tag Heuer Links, Omega SMP, Breitling SFSO. These are all well-under $3k.

No wonder some guys only know or want to know Rolexes...it's the only one which actually does say, "I spent a wad on this watch", and that's important to some people as proof of their earning power.

  9. A light just went off my head when posting my recent Breitling SFSO thread. Now, it doesn't work for me, because I have an ungodly 69 reps (some on their way), and obviously that's well over $1m, but here's my idea.

Count your ALL your reps. Now look up the retail price. And total them up. How much are they worth if they were gens?

Imagine your neighbours or boss, looking at your wrist every other day. Whatever the total is, I bet you none of us here have less than AT LEAST $10,000 worth of watches, if they were gens.

They must think, "that rich bastard, how does he do it?". :D

  10. http://www.jomashop.com/breitling-aeromari...a1739010-g5-282

    Retail Price: $2,450.00

I am considering buying Silix' special on the SFSO, despite the fact that I hate SS bracelets. So, not knowing the first thing about Breitlings, that hyper-macho marque, I looked up the price.

Don't know what I expected, but maybe in the realm of U$5-8K for Breitling SFSO.

And RETAIL it's less $2500?? Sheesh. No offence, but you can't even get a base PAM for that price -- USED.

This is a watch that easily any middle-class guy could own, without raising eyebrows. I'm guessing the SFSO flies very much under the radar, when gen owners try to out reps in parties, etc.?

Too bad FxrAndy is on manoeuvres, since of course, he recently compared his with a gen owner's version. The guy didn't have a clue.

  11. Actually, that was the only scene I liked from that movie. The rest was a cartoon. Slightly better than the Roger Moore rubbish, but it fell far short of Connery's worst 60's & early 70's efforts (excusing his Never Say Never Again mistake). While I think Craig's a great actor, the rest of this flick made me pine for George Lazenby.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. And I said so in my film review...(I do freelance film critique).

As you can tell, I thought it promised much in the future, though the much over-used term "reboot of the series" gives me hives.

And when I say "promised much", I mean it in terms of watches too. Good for us.

  12. I agree......or disagree, depending on the point of view.

    Heh.

Either way, I prefer to see a woman wearing a smaller, more delicate watch. You can call me old fashioned, but you cannot call me trendy.

Faye Dunaway, Admin Crown Affair 1968, wearing a watch which would make my Fiddy look piddy (52mm??). Cracking film, BTW.

    fayebawatch1ln7.jpg

As long as you don't want a woman to wear spindly watches ALL the time, then we're cool. If I wore a Panerai or a GMT II to a cocktail party wearing a flowing Vera Wang dress, instead of my 24mm gold Rolex, I'd think that was off too.

For the record, ladies should avoid wearing watches during smart galas. It's considered bad form to announce you are looking at the time when you're supposed to be enjoying yourself.

EDIT: The only woman I know who can get away with that look, and not be seen as gauche is my Queen.

    elizabethiicartierbq8.jpg

But she has a nicer gala watch than I. :)

  13. I'll be visiting Krakow (Poland) from Thursday untill Monday. Any tips where to go to for: diner, drinks, fun, partying, reps, girlzzz ;), sightseeing and Panerai AD's?

    Thnx! :1a:

Pubus, Sql_PL, Phantom, guys! No tips for Scoobs here?

Sorry, babe. I was too young when we went to Poland. All I remember are pretty streets and unsmiley people in Krakow. And pastries which didn't taste of sugar (post-Soviet rationing?). Also, the monastery of Jasna Gora (sp?), which had the Black Madonna.

    That was great. :)

...not sure how close to Krakow that is, but YOU MUST go there.

  14. So I was ready to make my first order with pam111 for 2 watches, but he dosn't take paypal, western union only, I finished the transaction online and it said I had to call it in to complete the transaction, after 10 mins on hold a lady came on the phone and asked me if I was making a purchase, I told her yes and then she declined the transaction!!! I then tryed to tell her that I was send money, for personal reason, but she said that the conversation was being recorded and I already said it was for a purchase!!! Who ever thought buying an replica watch would be so hard......

I just go to a "Check Cashing" venue and pay through their WU Quick-Pay form. Never been denied yet for Davidsen. Obviously your dealer has been flagged.

As suggested in another forum, try Xoom.com, but please check that with your dealer first.
